Is there a way based on environment to know when the searchlites stop running?  Do they automatically stop when the sun is showing?

Have a mission that I want to start as late as I can, but flyers will need to see the searchlites to make it easier to find the target.

Trying to set the window so the timing works out

They will stop at sunrise. But I think you can set a time in the properties options. Also winter maps means longer dark nights.

To determine when sunset/sunrise occurs for the date that you set, look at the "daytime.cfg" file mentioned in "Example: Command Bombers to Take Off at Sunset" on pg. 100 in the IL-2 Sturmovik Mission Editor and Multiplayer Server Manual.

I believe that you can also turn the searchlights on and off manually. See "Mark a Runway With Lights" on pg. 57 of the manual. I think that the technique used with "landlightger" and "landlightsu" also applies to searchlights.

I just did a test and made one blink a few times as per Jim's manual - need that for later in my campaign :)

So, would it be possible to have the sun shine 24 hours a day? :)

He means find out when the sun sets - not manipulate what time the sun sets. :)

Are you sure it wouldn't work? :P

Temuri needs 24 hr. sun for his "High Arctic" mission.

JimTM thanks. By changing daytime.cfg I may force AA to open fire even during the night without searchlights.

Did you back up the original daytime.cfg? Probably a good idea.
