WWGeezer Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Is there a way based on environment to know when the searchlites stop running? Do they automatically stop when the sun is showing? Have a mission that I want to start as late as I can, but flyers will need to see the searchlites to make it easier to find the target. Trying to set the window so the timing works out
TP_Jacko Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 They will stop at sunrise. But I think you can set a time in the properties options. Also winter maps means longer dark nights.
JimTM Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 (edited) To determine when sunset/sunrise occurs for the date that you set, look at the "daytime.cfg" file mentioned in "Example: Command Bombers to Take Off at Sunset" on pg. 100 in the IL-2 Sturmovik Mission Editor and Multiplayer Server Manual. I believe that you can also turn the searchlights on and off manually. See "Mark a Runway With Lights" on pg. 57 of the manual. I think that the technique used with "landlightger" and "landlightsu" also applies to searchlights. Edited January 8, 2017 by JimTM
Gambit21 Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 (edited) I just did a test and made one blink a few times as per Jim's manual - need that for later in my campaign Edited January 8, 2017 by Gambit21

So, would it be possible to have the sun shine 24 hours a day?
Gambit21 Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 He means find out when the sun sets - not manipulate what time the sun sets.

JimTM Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Temuri needs 24 hr. sun for his "High Arctic" mission. 1
=LG/F=Kathon Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 JimTM thanks. By changing daytime.cfg I may force AA to open fire even during the night without searchlights.
JimTM Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 (edited) JimTM thanks. By changing daytime.cfg I may force AA to open fire even during the night without searchlights. Did you back up the original daytime.cfg? Probably a good idea. Edited January 9, 2017 by JimTM
