pilotpierre Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Just gets better and better. Looking forward to some ground pounding in the Boston.
=38=Tatarenko Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Very nice progress! In terms of performance, where would the Spit fall compared to the rest of the planes in BoX? I'd say between the LaGG and the Yak. Around the E7 in German terms.
Yogiflight Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 (edited) I am absolutely exited about the 110. Finally we can really use her for tank hunting. Hopefully devs improve the brakes, as they, now, are completely underpowered in low speeds, like, when you are taxiing. I am curious, what the more powerfull engines will bring. And, of course, finally a powerfull rear machinegun. Edited December 30, 2016 by Yogiflight 1
Asgar Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 can't wait to test that 37mm in centerline configuration and a ton of ammo (at least compared to the Ju-87)
Haza Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Is there a "ballpark" release date for the Spitfire? this post seems to imply it is pretty far along... https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/26452-summery-special-teamspeak-event-saturday-dec-3rd/?hl=%2Bhs129&do=findComment&comment=416325 June I think!!!
ZnarF Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Nice DD. But please, don't forget anew VR support....
Bullets Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 There was me thinking the fw190 improvements were already out haha, seems to handle higher angle of attacks better since the last patch Must be my imagination
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 I'd say between the LaGG and the Yak. Around the E7 in German terms. I think closer to the Yak than the LaGG for the most part.
Finkeren Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 (edited) There was me thinking the fw190 improvements were already out haha, seems to handle higher angle of attacks better since the last patch Must be my imagination Happens every update. Someone thinks the devs have changed the FM of some aircraft without telling us - I've been there myself. You can trust, that when the FM changes to the Fw 190 A3 actually occur (likely at the same time as the release of the new A5) the devs will make absolutely sure to tell us, not just that the change has been made, but exactly what to expect and what not to expect. They will want as little confusion about this as humanly possible. I just hope, that the Fw 190 gets the FM overhaul at the same time or after the changes to rudder physics have been implemented for all planes. I have a feeling, that the Fw 190s advantage in roll rate will be more noticable, when we can no longer use rudder to boost our roll rate quite as much. I think closer to the Yak than the LaGG for the most part. Faster than either at altitude, better turner except down low, much worse roll rate. That's my take. Edited December 30, 2016 by Finkeren
[TWB]Pand Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Anyone getting a degradation in performance since this most recent update? With the original DirectX11 update, running in borderless at 75hz in UWHD with my GTX 770, I was able to maintain a clean and consistent 75FPS online and off on ultra and 4x terrain and 4x AA. I could even get right up on a burning aircraft and smoke everywhere with no drop in FPS at all. It was beautiful, and I was so impressed with the update. After the original DirectX11 update, I could alo get a steady 60fps in the menu screens. Now, after this most recent update, I get 37-42 with jitter. In game it's back to almost unplayable, and feels like I'm back to playing on directX9. I'm back to inconsistent frames throughout quick missions, online and off. I have spent 3 hours troubleshooting settings and hardware with no luck. What code changed that could have such a huge change in performance within just one week? Thanks--- I can't wait for the next patch to hopefully fix this!
coconut Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 @Pand might be the confetti bug on AMD cards. They had to drop an improved shader for particle effects due to it. I hope it makes a come back later.
tailwheel Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Full news - here is a full text and visual materials You're very welcome to subscribe for new videos hereYou can ask new questions in this thread Totally agree on the satisfaction of completing a tactical mission !!!
L3Pl4K Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 soo anyone excited for the 110 in January? a weng
LLv24_Zami Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 (edited) In the end it's been a very good year for this sim. Positive changes in general direction of the game and a dedicated team who delivers at amazing rate. Good work everybody!I think next year will be even better, very much looking forward Kuban, new interesting planes and especially career mode.Happy new year everyone, I'll take a head start and start celebrating it today Edited December 30, 2016 by Zami
Quax Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 @Pand might be the confetti bug on AMD cards. They had to drop an improved shader for particle effects due to it. I hope it makes a come back later. That´s what Jason said. It´s a shame everyone has to suffer for that shitty AMD drivers.
SOLIDKREATE Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 soo anyone excited for the 110 in January? YEP AND THAT IS WHEN i WILL PURCHASE MY KEY!
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 I see you guys gonna be doing new single player career - great but i hope you find time to work at most important ingredient - AI BFM. Teach them mimic more like human pilot behavior, seriously this is Achilles heel of this game since Rise of Flight. I appreciate efforts made into teaching them strafe ground objects and follow orders but it is not enough for successful single player. Thinking about be able to fly career in a coop mode would give this game deserved glory. Best wishes in 2017! 1
JG4_Sputnik Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Great story, thanks Han. It's really true that it adds to the fun if you "play it right". It's such a shame though that you have to re-build every aircraft again. How many times has a Spit 3D model been done now? If one only could swap it between simulators or buy them from external sources instead of re-building it everytime again... We would have a much faster output. It gets time that "we" have some kind of source where all the knowledge and models of WW2 aircraft are stored and ready to use for developers and enthusiasts.
Asgar Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Nice DD. But please, don't forget anew VR support.... honestly...it's not that important. only a fraction of all players use VR so there really is no point in making it the main focus of development 1
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 can't wait to test that 37mm in centerline configuration and a ton of ammo (at least compared to the Ju-87) Yes 66 of the 37mm shells is enought to send VVS tankeers a serious message. It will also have the nicer looking engine cowlings. 2
PA-Sniv Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 2016 was a great year for BoS/M. Everything is coming along nicely. For 2017, I hope you'll manage to stick to the promising plan and still give some love to the hardcore side of the sim (fuel management, pneumatic/hydraulic/electrical DM, radio navigation frequencies,...). Best wishes for 2017. Cheers, 1
JG4_Sputnik Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 honestly...it's not that important. only a fraction of all players use VR so there really is no point in making it the main focus of development Now yes, but a year or two from now the whole community will switch, I strongly believe. It's better to have it implemented now than later, since it is a game changing technology. 1
LLv34_Temuri Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Now yes, but a year or two from now the whole community will switch, I strongly believe. It's better to have it implemented now than later, since it is a game changing technology. Personally, I consider switching only when the resolution in VR goggles is better than what it is currently. Even then, I doubt the price range will be so affordable as to the whole community to switch. 4
-TBC-AeroAce Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 (edited) Yes I had a big drop back after the amd fix(2.006c). I am a little annoyed but I would have been going bat s**t if I had the glitter or crashes so I understand. Hopefully they can sort it or we make all amd guys feel so guilty they go but an nvid Edited December 30, 2016 by AeroAce 1
Pollux Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 (edited) You noticed the presence of the rearview mirror on the screens of the Spitfire !!!!!!!!! That's very good news ! I hope that the mirrors will be added to the aircraft already present !? Edited December 30, 2016 by Pollux

JG4_Sputnik Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Personally, I consider switching only when the resolution in VR goggles is better than what it is currently. Even then, I doubt the price range will be so affordable as to the whole community to switch. Yes price is an issue indeed... btw, did you try it yourself?

I am a little annoyed but I would have been going bat s**t if I had the glitter or crashes so I understand. Hopefully they can sort it or we make all amd guys feel so guilty they go but an nvidWould it be possible to provide both shaders ? So you can choose your card under graphic options ?Or would this be to expensive for further development ? However, if AMD is not willing to provide all DX11 functionality, they should inform customers. Edited December 30, 2016 by Quax
ShamrockOneFive Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 I think closer to the Yak than the LaGG for the most part. Definitely more Yak than LaGG. Speed at lower altitudes will probably not be great unless they give us the Merlin 45 version (of which a few were at Kuban) but I'm expecting the Merlin 46 meaning that the Spitfire will be an excellent performer at altitude and a very agile turn fighter at all altitudes compared to the opposition. The biggest issues are likely to be restrictive engine limits and those 60 round drums for the Hispano Mark II. I'm excited about the Spitfire Vb but I'm optimistic that we'll see an IL-2 implementation of a later model Spitfire... a Spitfire LF.IXc would be nice (or you know, a Griffon engined XIV sometime too).
JG4_Sputnik Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 I certainly will not (not because i don't want to) but if you're offering i'm not saying no You don't want to`?? Hell, if you knew what you're missing 1
Cpt_Cool Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 I am going to wait for a few iterations of VR tech before I buy in. Its sooo expensive.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 I'm down for the tech and the price point will certainly fall as others get into the market but I think the performance is not up to par yet. I will wait for at least one more generation before I dive in. I've tried one and it is not 'there' yet. 1
[TWB]Pand Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Would it be possible to provide both shaders ? So you can choose your card under graphic options ? My GeForce GTX 770 has performed well in every game I play ---- except IL-2. At least for a week saw how amazingly crisp and smooth IL-2 could be if it were using the most efficient shaders! Thanks everyone for all for the info, and I truly hope the dev team decides to implement an option soon to allow us to take advantage of the more efficient shaders if our cards support it.
Boomerang Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Hope everyone had a wonderful Cristmas, and there were some IL-2 Sturmovik under the Christmas trees There has been so many surprises in 2016, with the IL-2 Sturmovik series, and there certainly appears to be more coming next year. Hehe, it sounds such a long way off when you say it like that, but here in AU that's only tomorrow. It's good to see Han and Gavrick's online success. It was like reading a chapter from a book, and with illustrations, how good. The Spitfire Mk.VВ, looks gorgeous! The new graphics technique for realistic looking steep rock slopes for mountains sounds very interesting, as to the: 3-dimensional sea waves technology.I do like the sound of 3-dimensional sea waves technology! I've been working on a 4k 109 template, and have continued work on this. I decided to approach panel lines from a different perspective now, and am in the process of improving this with shading. Best Regards to all.
HBPencil Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 (edited) Great to see the Vb screenies! As it's w.i.p I'm probably wasting my breath but just in case I'm not.. I noticed that the crowbar is red and if that isn't just a place holding texture colour I should point out that painting the Spitfire crowbars red was a post war practice, during the war they could be grey or more usually unpainted. Just an f.y.i but the Merlin 45 is also an altitude engine although its full throttle height is a slightly lower than that of the 46. It can be confused with the Merlin 45M which is a 45 with a cropped supercharger impeller giving it good low level performance but poor altitude performance. Edited December 31, 2016 by HBPencil
FlyingNutcase Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Is there a "ballpark" release date for the Spitfire? this post seems to imply it is pretty far along... In the livestream before last, Jason said the plan was for a May release but not to hold them to it.
