Hello everyone,

the year 2016 is almost ended. This year was full of news, for our product too. For us, it was hard, but very productive. The main result of this year for us is, of course, the start of the work on the next theatre of war.
.......................

We would like to tell you a short story about how we managed to have a great fun in multiplayer spending only a hour online.

Happy New Year!!!

Great to hear from you one last time in 2016. :salute:

The Spitfire looks Yummy, but what I'm really looking forward to is the Fw 190A5 perhaps my all time favourite LW fighter.

Also great to hear about your work to make the Kuban map even more visually appealing than the other ones. I have a feeling this will be everyone's favourite place to hang out.

2016 might not have been a great year for celebrity longevity, but it sure was an amazing year for this sim.

Stoked for the 190 A-5 and that beauty they designated the A-20.  The Spit looks like it's coming along nicely.

Those 2 sorties sound like a good time!  Definitely more enjoyable than your typical Bf109, 6km stat padding "fighter sweep"

I'm sure everyone would love to see more of you guys in the servers when you have the time.

The Spitfire... a beauty!

Great job on the new technologie for Kuban Map.

I know maps are long and hard work, and I really enjoy them. Even more with Tante Ju!

great Sortie on Multiplayer,

You can also go in Random Expert server, in which people tend to be more careful.

Thank you for this last Dev Diary of 2016. A great way to finish the year!

Is there a "ballpark" release date for the Spitfire? this post seems to imply it is pretty far along... ;)

Yes, nice work. We all know that the creation of new maps is not easy. Maybe you should think about giving users a tool for creating own maps. After three years, we have ONLY TWO maps!!! Not the best result. What do you think?

We have way more maps. There are 10 if you count the seasons. Even if you don't count the seasons there are still 5 maps: Moscow, Stalingrad, Lapino, Novosokolniki, Velikie Lukie.

Btw: Talented mapmakers have created the last two maps I mentioned :)

Happy new year all! :salute:

I agree with you Jordan. But these are still the same maps, and plz, dont count the seasons and those little maps. There are many talented players who can contribute to the development of this game.

Probably so and maybe time will tell, but I'm pretty excited about the progress we've seen.

I really like the looks of the Spitfire. I'm hoping down the road we will see a Mk IX. No hurry, no hurry. :)

Ok. If we don't count seasons and the smaller maps, we have 3 big maps, not 2 as you said.

Good debrief there. Of corse is more interesting and fun when you fight real pilots and no IA.

Sad that the sortie was not as interesting for the 109 blown up. Ammo racked by a P2. What a coincidence!

Don't forget Odessa Map, as shown in DD #130 it looked quite well along, I wonder how that is getting on? or maybe waiting for Kuban water tech?

And yes Velikie Luki deserves a mention, as well as being a nice map, it is the region for historic FW190 involvement in the timeframe of BoS, many people often say the FW 190 is misplaced in BoS but it does have a legitimate historic home...even if mission builders allow it on other maps due to popularity

For now, I think if a Mapmaking team is serious they will find a way to get the info for creating new maps..it has already been done before, and being done again

looking forward to Kuban, with all the new features, and being 32% bigger than Stalingrad map it should be fun

Cheers Dakpilot

I have also been wondering about work on the cards. I haven't heard anything about the Great Luke summer card for a long time.

Last I heard of Luki summer map, was, that as not much fighting took place there in the summer months, it is a low priority, and as Zeus' baby I imagine he is now very busy with Kuban, to commit time to it (Luki summer)

just guessing really

They still work on the Odessa map ánd at the same time wait for the new Kuban water technology.

According Google translation from the Russian forum:

Question:

And what about Odessa? Not?

Reply from zeus--:

Guys, well, apparently the same as if you do it on Kuban Technology (sea water, ports, etc.), you have to wait.

But while waiting for the development of new technologies guys are not sitting idle.

The city and the port to be done many unique 3D objects.

Question,

I've read a couple of times about 'new water technology' and in this DD  about '3-dimensional sea waves technology' in relation to the upcoming Kuban map.

And it will be an improved version of the one from Rise of Flight.

But can someone point me to a good and representative video of RoF where it is shown clearly?

I have not found anything and this so called new technology made me curious.

Well, by the time Kuban gets released, this video will be 5 years old, so i'm definately looking forward to how the improved water will look like. :)

The real Battle of Moscow had very little combat over the city (just a few night raids)

To render the entire city to the same detail level as the rest of the map, although possible, would have simply taken too much time

This is roughly the information given by Dev's before release

I wonder why the Devs do not allow you to fly over Moscow. Kind of map ready but it looks like it is "AREA 51". Why?

If you're curious, you can place the Moscow city blocks on a map using the mission editor and take a good look at them. There's actually a surprising amount of detail in the blocks, but the textures are seriously low res, no "hit boxes" for any of them, etc.

Having said that, I think Moscow looks wonderful from afar - like a real recognisable, almost tangible city. I'd have swapped the travesty of a London we got in CloD for something similar - something that looked like London from the distance, even if the price to pay was that you wouldn't be able to fly over it.
