BlitzPig_Waz Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 In squad I was 336th_LtMurf and flew Mustangs. Solo I was HerrMurf and flew 190’s almost exclusively - go figger. Edit: Just looked at the old web page. Apparently I was promoted and retired a Major. Yay me! I thought you were dead.
BlitzPig_CountG Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Count!!!! Great to hear from you again! Check your PMs... We have a forum with some other guys after the great Pig schism, but now we are all in the same place again... I have many good memories of you in the Mig3U on the Kuban, great times. Hey El!! Good to ready you, bro. I stumbled on your name while googling for BOM and then found this thread... And yes, i am still here after all those years... And both Skychimp and Count rising from the ashes of forgetfulness and the dust of ages...Get your furry behinds to our forum gents or we will come and get you and it's not going to be pretty, i tells ya! Void The Wise, I bow before thee (albeit bowing in presence of a Pig can be truly dangerous)! Woah! My son! My long lost son! How are you doing? It’s so nice to see you again. Liz! I turned to the dark side, Father, then turned back to the bright side. Hope NOT to end up with 50 shades of grey. Good to read you all, miss the old days. Where the heck is g00se?????
BlitzPig_CountG Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 I thought you were dead. Waz... wow, blast from the past! Hope all is well.
VeryOldMan Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Used to be just OldMan back then.. now so many years later.. VeryOldMan Not nearly as problematic as that damned P-47 roll rate. And pphhhttt on not being able to see over the dashboard on the Fw-190. We all know German pilots used booster seats, anyway. Tell him I asked about him. See if he remembers me. I do remember you
BP_Lizard Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Liz! I turned to the dark side, Father, then turned back to the bright side. Hope NOT to end up with 50 shades of grey. Good to read you all, miss the old days. Where the heck is g00se????? Glad to see you back. I'm pretty sure either EL or Waz has already sent you an invitation to our forum so git yo' a$$ in there. g00se is still very much alive and kickin' and would be stoked to see you again.
TheNotoriousFNG Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Likely flew under this tag. Many fond memories...I recognize a lot of the name’s in here, but I don’t know if they remember me. I would’ve likely been one of their many kills, ha!
15[Span.]/JG51Costa Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 (edited) Can someone change the color of this topic? I think yellow goes well. I see people here from banana forums Were is RBJ? I start long time a go. I remember flyng with a guy called Oleg Maddog in IL-2 Beta around...1999-2000? Buglord Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 I flew as 6BLRoblex in IL2 when I first arrived from Warbirds as I had belonged to 6sqn RAF 'Black Lions' (also spent some time in 633sqn, part of Tangmere Wing there) Most of that squad did not come over to IL2 so I then joined 23sqn RAF who specialised in A20s & Mosquitos & Tempests. I flew as YP-R I then joined 56RAF where I have stayed though we went to CLoD then DCS before coming to BoX Long time no see...
Hoss Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 (edited) Another post gave me this idea. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/26315-need-som-help-wailwulf-old-il2-dayz/ Quote:Wailwulf from the "old time" of 1946... is he here under another name? If not, does anyone know him.. I recall his prefix as AB1_ but I could be mistaken Would appreciate any help. Send me a PM unquote How many here flew the original Il2? Kinda like a reunion of sort. Maybe some of us can meet old friends. I was (Stanger) back when the beta came out what 15 years ago. You were 361st Stanger..................... I was 361st BeoWolf.......................... good to see you moved over to BoX............... 361st Oblitt is here too................. (Sandhog) and yes.............. Hoss really is my real nick name................ Cheers Hoss Edited December 12, 2017 by 1./JG54_Hoss
BlitzPig_Waz Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Waz... wow, blast from the past! Hope all is well. I'm good. Retired, got remarried, moved to Las Vegas.
Gambit21 Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Did you always go by 361st BeoWulf, or were you ever just "Beowulf"?
Jaws2002 Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 (edited) I bought a PC world magazine, back in fall 2001, because it had the IL-2 demo. The download was to much for the 14.5k modem i had back then. After crashing that P-39 a few times in that intercept mission, i was hooked. Was playing on Ubi.com lobby for about four months, until I discovered Hyperlobby. Was Jaws2002 for a wjile, then played with Forgotten Assassins for a while as -=FA=-Jaws, then after the mods madness back as Jaws2002. This days, between all versions of the game I play maybe two hours a month. I flew with and got shot down by most of you here in this thread. It's been an honor. Edited December 12, 2017 by Jaws2002
Feathered_IV Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Been in on it, closely watching the Il-2 series on a daily basis since 2002. Chose the Feathered name back in the day, as every other person seemed to have very warlike tags, like Leadspitter or Screamin'victory. Still remember you all, and recall the many other absent personalities. Like the Stathaem and Megile double feature. CrazyIvan and his banning stick, and the turn-based combat of Skychimp. Burma is a totally legit major theatre btw...
Hoss Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 (edited) Did you always go by 361st BeoWulf, or were you ever just "Beowulf"? I did just go by ~BeoWolf~ on occasion.............. but you may be thinking of beowulff.....he's the older gentleman over on IL2 Freemodders......... I was also AG51-Hoss with TwoLate too.............. they are flying DCS now.......... there were a few other names at the beginning in 2001.............. but BeoWolf for quite awhile........ Bearcat was the CO of our sister squad back then (361st) Hoss Edited December 12, 2017 by 1./JG54_Hoss
Gambit21 Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I see...thanks Hoss. beowulf used to fly my CoOps quite often. TwoLate seems familiar.
DD_Crash Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 FoolTrottel has bought BoS but I am not sure if he has posted here.
FlatSpinMan Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Hey ho Two kids, now 10 and 8, plus a 4 month old baby. Need I say more? Also, I cycle 5-6,000km a year so that tends to be where my gaming time goes. Like others have mentioned already, flying the P39 in a demo I got with a PC magazine is what got me started. It is also the source of my nickname. 2
DD_Arthur Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 plus a 4 month old baby. Aha! No wonder you've been absent m8 Boy or girl this time? Oh yeah, I became a grandfather at 2.15 a.m. this morning 1 1
von_Greiff Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 I do fly-simulations since "Janes", Have been "v.Greiff" ever since! yours v.Greiff
Blitzen Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Bought it as soon as i could years ago ( ditto RoF,cloD and of course BoS) and every add-on since ,then all the Mods & currently have a full on BAT modded install which is updated with all the bells 7 whistles from SAS,.I keep it for all the various planes & whenever I feel the need to launch from an aircraft carrier.. Many of the aircraft still stand up pretty well ( whjle waiting for the P-39 & A-20, I can always do a flip in one in good ol' Il-2..)& even the newer maps are much improved ,but I have to admit fall far short of Box or CloD standards.I also have to admit that I am increasingly hooked on Oculus VR in BoX and that will undoubtedly continue with the new versions on tap!
BlitzPigVoidcracker Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Void The Wise, I bow before thee (albeit bowing in presence of a Pig can be truly dangerous)! Oh i have aged and matured and have become much stupider and much sillier with the passing of time, Count...During the years passed the remaining BlitzPigs and our friends to crime have refined and evolved stupid to almost zen master levels. We are so good at it now that it requires no effort or thought at all! Who knew?
BlitzPig_CountG Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Oh i have aged and matured and have become much stupider and much sillier with the passing of time, Count...During the years passed the remaining BlitzPigs and our friends to crime have refined and evolved stupid to almost zen master levels. We are so good at it now that it requires no effort or thought at all! Who knew? When zen levels are reached, then it's called art! I just can't believe the BPs (and other known faces here) are still around... it nice to see that a piece of software by a Russian company got so many people together for so many years. When such a thing happens, it's called art (my mom would tell me to "Get a life"...)! I'm good. Retired, got remarried, moved to Las Vegas. In "only" 13+ years???? PS: check your PM here

Solty Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 I flew in IL2 but only started playing multiplayer after 46 came out. I mostly flew on Spit vs 109 and HSFX server. I mostly flew spitfires and 109s. I loved the variety of planes. It was a fun game. I remember how on a winter map I flew 109G and fought against two P38s. I damaged one but the other one got my engine. And that was the first time I've been told "nice flying GF". I felt terrific and that made me want to come back to MP.

[CPT]milopugdog Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 I feel I missed out on something great here. Gosh dang it, child me.
Gambit21 Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 (edited) I feel I missed out on something great here. Gosh dang it, child me. Hey neighbor. Yeah it was pretty epic - we had fun. We won't get anything resembling a revival until we have Hyperlobby type functionality again. Edited December 13, 2017 by Gambit21 3
FlatSpinMan Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Milopugdog - honestly it was brilliant. I was never much of an online flier but Tue activity, creativity, excitement, enthusiasm, and goodwill of most users (thinking mainly of the UbiZoo, M4T, and SimHQ) was awesome. I couldn't buy the game here in Japan so Cajun 76 bought it for me and sent it to me. A joystick, too. The kindness and trust that I'd repay him blew me away. There was always some new campaign being made, always some great screenshots like those posted above, people writing hilarious accounts of their misadventures, plus some incredible movies. Foolishly I thought that was how online game communities were. Nope. It was a special thing. But whining, oh yes, there was whining. Mods added so much to IL2 but also ended up taking away a lot, too, as they fragmented the community. I wouldn't fly it now without them though. Aha! No wonder you've been absent m8 Boy or girl this time? Oh yeah, I became a grandfather at 2.15 a.m. this morning That's fantastic, Arthur. Say hi to the other Dogz for me. They were a funny bunch (in the sense of amusing and also in the sense of being odd). This time we have a beautiful little boy. Perfect.
312_Lazy Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Hey, I recognize some names here. I also started with Il-2 demo. Then came VEF (Virtual Eastern Front) and I was hooked for many years. I still have screenshot from my first mission:
BlitzPig_EL Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 We won't get anything resembling a revival until we have Hyperlobby type functionality again. A thousand times this. 2
Hoss Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Smells like old farts in their cockpits too. My wife would not disagree with you!............ Cheers Hoss
Rjel Posted December 13, 2017 Posted December 13, 2017 Smells like old farts in this thread. Sorta smells like piiigggs to me.
Skychimp Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 (edited) "... (albeit bowing in presence of a Pig can be truly dangerous)!" Only if you're facing away from him. BP_Lizard Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 Howdy, Skychimp. You and your avatar are ones of the few memories I have of the old forum.
Higaluto Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 (edited) I started il2 in desember 2001 when i was 18 years young, i was in the store once pr week to see if it had been released, i didnt have internet until 2003. finaly there it was was on hyperlobby for years, good times, joined a few squadrons, but mostly solo flyer online and offline. I cant remember how i heard of it but prob through the old gaming magazines. before that it was janes ww2 fighters and european air war Edited December 14, 2017 by Higaluto
CUJO_1970 Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 And let's not minimize this whole F4U wobble when firing the guns. It's still there. How do I get hold of Oleg these days to fix that? Oleg had a nervous breakdown and now lives in seclusion. He mostly blames you.
