Stoopy Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 (edited) Jade Monkey, I just want to tell you how much fun I'm having with these missions so far, and thanks for your work. The airfield strafing attack missions for the '109 and '110 have been a real hoot. It's a gas to come up with different approaches to accomplish them succesfully, with some results being quite rewarding. Good stuff!!! Edited July 29, 2019 by Stoopy 1 1

Only the Time Scale function in the latter did not, but i noticed that with other missions too ... thnx J Edited August 23, 2019 by jollyjack

I have overhauled a lot of them (added more AAA, random convoys, random dogfights) and I'm waiting for a few game fixes (e.g. AI keeping up speed/altitude on climbs) before i publish the new version. I'll probably release after the next patch in September. 1 1 1
jollyjack Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 (edited) OK, and thanks for all the Good Works. Been lurking at the BoS Mission builder a little; quite complex compared to the old IL 1946 version. Added file of your IL2 mission fixed, just by loading and saving in the editor. PS i tried to bomb some parked Gerry Junkers on an airfield further past the action, but they were indestructible LoL. Even couldn't run 'em over on the ground, landing after the flak & train were destroyed. The mission itself is nice, not too long sightseeing before action shows, & some day hopefully i'll learn how to edit these things. JM Il2 Ground Attack.rar I learned the hard way, and from JimTM's manual. that weird behavior on take off has to do with this: Quote Important! Make sure that the map selected in "GUI Map" matches the terrain selected in "Terrain Presets". The map and terrain names may not be exactly the same. =SqSq=Sulaco Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Amazing P-51 mission Jade, felt a lot closer to something like Bunyap's Charnwood or Epsom campaigns than your typical IL2 mission/campaign. Really excellent work! 1

Jade_Monkey Posted October 4, 2019 Author Posted October 4, 2019 (edited) I have not posted here in a long time, here are some scattered thoughts in no good order (apologies) on my views on SP missions and my plans ahead: I will be releasing a new ground attack P38 mission this weekend, just need to make the final tweaks. I also have a bunch of older missions i never released. I will try to polish those and release them all together this weekend. @JefCostello although I've done it in the past, I'm not too keen on reusing old missions with different planes. It ends up muddying my mission list with too many variations and it's also more work to maintain in the long run. However my missions are free and unencrypted, so anyone can make variations if they please, no permission required for that. Regarding feedback and suggestions, I'm very open to hearing any feedback on how to improve the missions either in realism or fun. As I've become a better pilot over time, I've grown a further appreciation for realism and I want to incorporate more realistic features compared to more arcadish elements in my earlier missions. Mission ideas are also welcome, either a very general type, or even very specific scenarios you want to try. @pa4tim i have not forgotten about your request, they just fixed the land lights so we can build night missions again. My plan is to build a few missions with the new planes, and start using the new BP map almost exclusively until i get tired of it. I would love to make a BP campaign but i am going to take a break after releasing Red Tide, and have time to come up with a less fictional and more researched campaign. I've bought a lot of books that cover this period, now I have to read them ?. I do enjoy some of those aspects in campaigns such as "Blue Nosed bastards of Bodney" (DCS). I would like to build on that idea and include a supplemental PDF with useful info for the missions. If someone wants to collaborate in this and help with the research please let me know. Best, JM Edited October 4, 2019 by Jade_Monkey 2 2 2
=SqSq=Sulaco Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 You had me at "I do enjoy some of those aspects in campaigns such as "Blue Nosed bastards of Bodney" (DCS)" Bunyap did a couple fantastic campaigns for DCS as well, both his P-51 Charnwood & Spitfire Epsom campaigns are excellent, both offering maps showing bomb lines, troop movements, etc. All built from the historical day to day reports of the actual days you fly the missions on, all mind blowingly accurate. If your single P-51 mission is any indicator, I think you'd do a great job heading in this more realistic direction, I've already flown that stupid P-51 mission of yours countless times And just as an aside, if you've read The Big Show, I can't recommend Reflected's Big Show Campaign enough, it's pretty cool to experience some of the moments from the book in an actual flight sim. All this is to say I think you'd do as good a job as any of these guys, some solid research material up there too if you choose to go that route. Either way, you've my support Jade, I'll keep my eyes peeled and best of luck!

The missions seem all the same, and I kind of gave up on that campaign on mission ~6 or so. I would like to strike a balance between historically accurante and fun. If you are only historically accurate, most sorties would be very similar and that's not as fun.
JefCostello Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Thank you very much Jade for permission to modify your missions! I've done it for the P38? Cheers Jef 1

Best, JM Thanks for your missions. Is it possible to use snow weather without snow falling on a non winter map? It creates a great overcast sky, which for Europe will create a realistic atmosphere.
Jade_Monkey Posted October 6, 2019 Author Posted October 6, 2019 Updated the original post with new download link. There are a bunch of new missions in there as well as the old ones with the latest format for 3.201. There are probably some odd things with some missions since I was not able to check them all. Please let me know if you find anything odd. 1 5
Hoss Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 Just ran the P-38 mission and it's a blast, need to run the P-47 ground attack too. Thanks Cheers Hoss 1
Docjonel Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 Thanks for your missions, Jade! Really enjoy them, the lend an atmosphere of real world activity to the game. Going to reload your 3.201 compatible missions. One specific mission I'd like to try but not sure if it can be done in the mission editor is Baron Jean de Selys-Longchamps rogue mission against Gestapo headquarters in Brussels. Sure he was flying a Typhoon, but the Tempest is pretty close. The Gestapo had tortured his father to death. Longchamps had escaped to England, become a Typhoon pilot, and was sent on a mission to attack trains at Gent. He completed his primary mission then told his wingman to head back to England. Longchamps then proceeded on alone to Brussels, his hometown, and strafed Gestapo headquarters at No. 453 Avenue Louise. Amazingly, he managed to kill the SS security chief and a number of other SS personnel. Longchamps also dropped Belgian flags from his plane as he flew over Brussels. For this mission he was demoted AND given the Distinguished Flying Cross! He was killed at Manston returning from a mission in August 1943. I don't know if there is a way to highlight a particular building as a target in the Mission Editor (I don't believe so). Still this would be a fun historic mission to try and recreate. 20th Jan 1943 1

fiddlinjim Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 JM, I have the initial set of your first missions already downloaded with the exception of the new missions. Should I remove the already down loaded missions before reloading to include the new set or just reload the entire set. My concern is that a total reload may just duplicate with a second set of the first missions. I hope I have made myself clear.

Unless you kept updating them with the editor, they should be unplayable after all these patches.

jeanba Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 I tested the P38 mission and I have several problems: There is no instruction for taxiing : we do not know which runway and which direction to take ? All AI P38 collide each others on takeoff Any idea ? No istruction for taxiing at takeoff is a common problem in user made campaigns / missions Maybe I am missing something ?

Setup an outside view and then elevate with mouse and look around, you can easily see which taxiways lead to runway. Works in all campaigns. Jade Monjey will have to reply about AI colliding. It usually works in BoS, M and K because airbases are simple, but here, the air base is very complex, with several runways and taxiways can lead to either side of the runway.

jeanba Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 (edited) And what about the AI P38, did you takeoff with them ? Because they turned right when I did this, before massivly colliding. Edited October 9, 2019 by jeanba

In this case turn to the left. Go past the AI which will be parked with engines running. Look for where the windsock is and go past the the parked truck to the next windsock and turn right onto the runway and wait for the rest of your flight. 2
