Feathered_IV Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Here's a few shots of before and after. Couldn't resist giving it a whirl. The Lumasharpening works especially well. The reduced gamma and vignette is more a personal thing, as I find the stark white is rather hard on the eyes after a while. Lots of tweaking t be done, but nice to know it works. Thanks to 777/1cGS for all the hard work. It's off to a great start! 1
SvAF/F19_Klunk Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Have never tried this application before, but it looks really interesting.. Not sure if I would like to go with vignetting though (never did like that effect in games.. ) ... but would gladly try out contrast and saturation settings. thanx for the hint!
Feathered_IV Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 Definitely give it a try. I quite like the vignette settings when in cockpit view. It tends to soften one's periphery vision and gives that goggled feeling. I've uploaded the SweetFX that I'm using, with the files arranged to drop straight into BoS. It won't overwrite anything and you can just delete them if you prefer not to use it anymore. The SweetFX_settings.txt file is where you change the settings to taste. You can do this on the fly, alt-tabbing in and out of a mission to check the results. Have fun! http://www.mediafire.com/download/9sytu9i669al39v/SweetFX_V1.4_for_BoS.rar 3
SvAF/F19_Klunk Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) Great!! cheers!.. I'll try it out this evening! decent of you! thanx EDIT: current version of sweetfx is 1.5... I guess I can still use your files? Edited November 19, 2013 by F19_Klunk
Fifi Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I tried it via ROF FlightFX, but game doesn't start. Guess i'll have to just use SweetFX...
Feathered_IV Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 Yep the one above works fine. Below is the settings I used. Forgot to include them... http://www.mediafire.com/?9lylt416xw18rg9
EAF_Paf Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Also trying to get abit out of the white in white, which is not easy. Default Some changes with Sweet Fx 1.5
=RvE=Windmills Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I do like the second one a lot better then the vanilla version in the previous post. Easier on the eye. Not sure if that's entirely unrealistic that it normally isn't but I'd rather not have a headache after an hour of staring at snow.
LLv44_Mprhead Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Well, it looks like a different time of day. Upper picture looks like in the middle of the day in bright sun and lower looks like late afternoon when sun is already starting to go down.

Its mission 1.
Jason_Williams Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I tried it via ROF FlightFX, but game doesn't start. Guess i'll have to just use SweetFX... Fifi, FlightFX works fine. That is what I use. You have to make sure that FlightFX knows where the .exe and the Data folder is. Feathered's files are using SweetFX 1.4 and FlightFX uses 1.3. I'll look into updating FlightFX to 1.4 in the future. Jason
J4SCrisZeri Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 We've seen awesome canopy reflections during the last years, I take such effects are not ready yet in alpha versione. Can we espect something nice about that though? 1
Livai Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Why not use ENB Series with SweetFX together or alone? ENB Series work here
kendo Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) Same results with FlightFX for me as FiFi. Game does not start. Have tweaked exe and Data folder location in FlightFX with no success. Any tips Jason? Edited November 19, 2013 by kendo

Blooddawn1942 Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Just a question: Do I simply put the unpacked folder of SweetFX right into the BoS main directory and thats it? Do I have to activate something? Theres no exe...
Turil Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 For me, the edited screenshots look unnatural. White snow should be white snow But I can see that others like the a bit muted color. It's just that the photographer in me tells me the edited screenshots are underexposed 2
FuriousMeow Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 I don't like the SweetFX effects either, I prefer the game as is for both RoF and BoS. I just use SweetFX for the AA which has almost zero performance hit and really smooths everything out when using 1920x1200 or higher resolutions.

It may be on you just don't know it. In my case I use the "u" key. I forget which one is default. You can change them. Turn on the splitscreen option to check. Jason
Bando Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 I believe it is the scroll lock button. Works for me, thanks a bunch. Looks great.
71st_AH_Hooves Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 HOLY CRAP its night and day different! what a fabulous change!!

Have to try again.
71st_AH_Hooves Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) Im hoping you can get this to work FIFI, it is fricken awesome! Be sure to change the keys. Its working for everyone but u it seems. Edited November 20, 2013 by SYN_Hooves
peregrine7 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) Note, curves function will cause crash. I am (of course) working on my own profiles for goggles off and goggles on. EDIT again: Curves function causes crash due to incorrectly defined variable. #define Curves_mode 0.02 should be #define Curves_mode 0 or #define Curves_mode 2 Edited November 20, 2013 by peregrine7
smink1701 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Would it be possible for similar color adjustments to just be built into the game menu?
Jason_Williams Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Would it be possible for similar color adjustments to just be built into the game menu? No sorry this won't happen. Jason
peregrine7 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) Some screenies, so far just basic colour correction and gamma. Aiming for something a little cinematic as I feel the colour choices made by the game designers are excellent (Great job guys!) Also a little vignette, my guilty pleasure. Fifi Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) Still no go, even dropping sweetfx 1.3 directly into IL2/data. Game just doesn't start at all. Using FlightFX, game start but no changes ingame, even with splitscreen on. Tried with admin rights or not. Must be a Win8 specificity Strange because FlightFX runs great with my ROF...and COD too. PS: even hitting pause key to reload shaders. Edited November 20, 2013 by Fifi
FuriousMeow Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Hey Fifi, I have SweetFX working - make sure the d3d9.dll, dxgi.dll, dxgi.fx and injector.ini are in the \bin\game folder. The SweetFX folder, d3d9.fx, shader.fx, sweetfx_preset.txt and sweetfx_settings.txt must be in the \data\ folder. There is a difference between RoF and BoS, the first four files above go in different folders in the two titles (\bin_game\release in RoF, \bin\game in BoS)- so perhaps that is the issue?
Jason_Williams Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 You don't have it setup right FiFi or it would work. Just remove all the FlightFX and SweetFX files from your install so you can play. I'll eventually make a video explaining it although it works just like it does in ROF. I guarantee you something is placed wrong. Hooves had the same trouble and we fixed it in 2 mins. Jason
Fifi Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) God damn...i don't have the shader.fx! But had a look into my ROF/data, and no shader.fx too...and it is working there. Jason, i know something is wrong in my install. I can easily remove all and play. But i'm stubborn, and want to clear that out I did the exact same steps as for ROF, but i'm momentaneous stuck. Fifi Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Ok, downloaded latest sweetfx 1.5 (shader.fx inside) and installed as per FuriousMeow advice strictly. Still nothing in game. I really don't understand as i play with sweetfx for long time now. All my previous install were fine. I use it in ROF and COD via FlightFX with success. Even in DCS it was working fine (but i didn't liked it that much there) For BOS, both path are setted correctly in FlightFX. No go. SweetFX manually installed doesn't work either. This is again a very weird computer issue i'm used to!
Blooddawn1942 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Could somebody please post a short advice where to put the SweetFX files? The readme told me to place the SweetFX folder in the main directory of the game. This don't seem to work. Is there something I missed? A short explanation would be much appreciated.
EAF_Paf Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 (edited) ok, following files go into the 2 BOS-Folders: BOS/bin/game/ d3d9.dll dxgi.dll dxgi.fx injector.ini BOS/data/ SweetFX-Folder d3d9.fx shader.fx SweetFX readme.txt SweetFX_preset.txt SweetFX_settings.txt Edit: attached a rar-archive. just unpack and put the to folder bin &data into your game folder. Be aware that I already changed the settings. But there is a backup I think in the SweetFX-folder. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3123454/SweetFX%201.5.rar Edited November 20, 2013 by EAF_Paf
Blooddawn1942 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Thank You very much! I will try it this afternoon.
Feathered_IV Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 RoF's exe is in the Bin_Game folder. Whereas BoS has a Bin folder, then within that there is a separate Game folder that has the exe That caught me out when I first started setting up..
smink1701 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 What exactly does SweetFX do for you. Personally, I like the default colors the developers used in the game. When I look at the before and after pics the after with just seem a bit darker. I'd like to install SFX because so many embrace it but others have had issues installing and I unfortunately would probably be in that camp. I wish someone would come up with an installer or a very easy to follow tutorial.
