Hi guys,


I begin a level bomber pilot period since few days and I have 2 questions:


1st: we can choose to activate gunners on short, middle or long distance. Is the accuracy is the same for the 3 choices?


2nd: the weather is given at different altitudes but limited at 5000m. If I want to drop the bombs at 5500m, 6000m or upper, do I have to use the last informations (so those at 5000m), or do I have to try to estimate what could be the wind direction an it's speed? (I hope not because the level bombing seems don't like the approximation).

Hi Otto, 

every altitude over 5000 you can also use same datas. 
In the past was it more close the gunners firing more accurate. When you set the gunners on long distance you got the earliest warning and the enemy comes from the direction they look. If you set em on medium range than they will not waste too much ammo.

Notice: The Problem right now is the fact that the gunners hit nothing in time. It’s the result of a patch where their accuracy was reduced because before they was snipers. In fact in time they are totally useless except that give the warning. Jump on the gunners position can be a solution but it’s really difficult.

We all (Bomber pilots) hope the developers repair this damage they give to the gunners more accuracy again because right now bombers are nothing than a big and slow defenceless target.

However, bombing missions still can make fun. I recommend maximum altitude you can reach in early planesets.

Was there a conscious decision to remove the digital compass from the tanks on this server? The T34 is all but useless to navigate without an internal compass and no personal compass to call upon. Planes are still able to use the feature.

This makes tanks next to impossible to play!!!

 

This needs to be corrected ASAP or it will be to the great detriment of the already niche tanking community.

 

The compass on the PzIV (unless I'm doing it wrong) is extremely difficult to use without TrackIR.  When I'm away for work I use my laptop to game - therefore I can only tank - this is gonna mean I can't really do that now.

 

The poor guys in T34's have it hard enough already. I cant imagine how they are going to get along under this crap.

With the recent update the instrument panel setting needs to be enabled on the server or it will be impossible to navigate a tank without a compass.

That would be great, finaly tech chat engine timer expired/recovered messages would be visable if servers will now be forced to have instrument panel on because there is no compas without it, but how will realists play the game then knowing that some dont use in cockpit compases or speed/alt gauges, and have advantage on them... hard decision to make ?

Perhaps it was better to review the fact that a small tree can destroy a tank and kill the crew instead of having the option to disable the compass...

You've never played tanks on IL-2 FVP .... maybe you should just shut your mouth and let the actual tankers discuss this issue with admins.  Your input as a forum troll is not needed here at this time.

But the realist tank players who wont to vulch airplayers with tigers, how will they play if t-34 has compas ability it didnt have in real ww2... cccc

Wasn't it enough to press the i or h key?

But it is realistic to be killed or destroyed by a bush or a small tree...

Only Prokhorovka map is build for tanks, so when tankist wont to play on other maps build for airplanes then bush kill, i dont expect devs to make all maps tank playable in short time.

All the maps are playable in multiplayer ... and maybe it would take some consideration for those who play online!

Logged in to see the Mossie added to the current plane set.  With current server settings: night fighter exhaust covers unable to be removed, can't carry bombs.  I find this somewhat arbitrary and disappointing.

I think it is going to be fun with the Mossie vs. the "Duck" now that the Duck pilots are getting good at fighting.

Is there a plane set where the BF110 can't carry bombs? I think we know the real reason the early plane set doesn't allow bombs. It's so the blue side doesn't cry too loud meanwhile even the early 110's maneuver like Curtis Pitts.

From the planeset chart, it appears that Axis attackers get everything up to He 111s with the 2,400kg nukes.   (insert Axis "explaining" that it's more "nerf" than 100kg bombs here)

I repaired and refueled and rearmed the aircraft at a temporary airfield with P-47, but water injection is not replenished.

Why are some ships upside down?
When I first saw the ships, I thought they were sunk and turned over. But the objetive wasn't complete. So when I bombed the ships that were upside down, they were sunk.

This sortie!  Knocked this 109s tire out of his wing.  100% damage when he crash landed on runway.  In-game credits me 1 fighter.   Server says 0 kill of plane.    lol   

 

 

Viva la Repair Truck maybe?     

 

 

Edit:   Nevermind.  I gotta keep reminding myself that the stats board is akin to the guy at the desk adjudicating combat reports.  It would go down as a "probable" as the plane was not going to land without further damage and probably be spare parts after that.

Every time Stalingrad or Moscow come into the rotation, it only takes a few days for them to get finished and then we see Rheinland and Kuban for weeks on end.  

For the case of Stalingrad, it only takes a few missions to complete it.   

I'd recommend reviewing these scenarios.  As it stands, we are in a permanent loop of long-play Rheinland and Kuban mixed with less than a week each of Moscow and Stalingrad. This is the 3rd time these maps came up and were rolled right over in short order.

Yes, this is an issue. It's because the maximum advance distance setting is global to all of the starting situation variants of a given map. We need to change it to be starting situation variant dependent. Needs a bit of coding on the campaign app.

Would this allow more time in the older plane sets?  I got nuked by late war plane while thinking it was still early-mid war and decided it'd be fun to go bombing...totally my fault for not checking, but it would be nice to get to use the old planes a bit more.

Planesets are not map setup variant dependent and we're not going to implement that now.

Sadly, agree.
Planeset 1:
Slow E-7 vs faster P-40, Lagg 3, Hurricane, with better climb rate even the I-16 could catch you ;)
Oh wait, we have MC-202, what is: climbing better, but slower than P-40, Lagg-3.

The plansets are based on what?
Not on release years, I can assume that.

IIRC, that info isn't in human readable text format in the game logs. The campaign system determines the airfield by the coordinates. That would probably require a horrible kludge to the stats system.
