Interesting pictures. There's a clearly visible contrast between the upper cowling and the lower cowling plate (which is probably RLM04 as it's darker than the underside colour of the wing, RLM76). So the upper cowling could have possibly been red or orange and the lower one yellow?

Red markings are impossible 146%.

Engine - RLM04 top, RLM65 lower part. Rudder RLM04.

Leave it historical. Otherwise we will drop to World of Warlplanes and War Thinder "camouflages" :(

The Ju-88 is looking real nice. I can't wait to fly and test it. Not to mention get the template out to the skinners.

Jason

well, the exterior is done right? why not release the template now and we can start creating more skins right now :)

About "Assi" Hahn's F-2 : look at this photograph of a Fw 190 A-3 of JG 51 with different shades of yellow ;)

And what do you think I have been doing with all the planes? But still I have to prepare the raw template into something the community can use. That takes a while and I don't get the raw template until the external is completely ready which is not quite yet.

I've always admired the way the templates were laid out and organised. I didn't realise that was you. Bloody good job!

Let us consider this red nose Friedrich as a tribute to Peter Endsleigh Castle, the artist author of so many multi-view artwork of the serie Profile Publication, very popular in the sixties when I was a teenager ;)

I see some still read the very old "profile" thanks I feel a lot younger this all is due to this great wonder full game IL2.

Looking good overall. That last Ju-88 skin looks particularly nice.

Well done lads and a big pat on the back to your texture artists as always.

I-16 preview please!

All of the skins look really good! My only quibble with the Ju 88 skins is that the default winter skin is lacking a yellow fuselage band, which was a defining characteristic of German planes operating in the East.

Like the star-shaped ferrit antenna of the Peil EZ6 direction finder under its plexiglas window on the top of the Ju 88 A-4 fuselage? I can't see it on any screenshot.

Absolutely. The layering system allows even a casual skinner to create decent output, while the experts' skins are fantastic.

My only gripe about skins is not being able to use custom skins in stock campaign mode.

Its most likely that it was a A4 that never got converted to nightfighters because the unit was most likely useing them as illuminator. They would drop light bombs on parachutes so other nightfighters could hunt without searchlights or radar.

This technique was most successful when there was a cloud cover beneath the bombers than any attacking bomber was a well illuminated target for the Nightfighters of the group.

Yes, presumably used for nocturnal operations of some kind but it certainly appears to lack the necessary armament to be a night fighter.

For this kind of job it didn´t need the armament of the Nightfighters because it would fly higher than the enemy bombers and drop one light bomb after another. So to carry many light bombs would be much more important than to have more guns. The other Nightfighters would make the attack while the Ju 88 A4 would illuminat the targets with light bombs on parachutes.

Just wish to say,

Even tho the Developers skins are beautiful, (as always), don't forget to check out the communities skin thread as well.

It's a great way to extend your collection. Thank you Jason for the aircraft templates :salute:

Yeah, I love that Pe-2 formation.

Now if I could get 4-5 of those groups in an SP mission without the game chugga-luggin' than I'd be golden.

He of course meant frames per second. I love how people think we're all about making money. Man I wish that were true cause we would have left this genre long time ago.

I know ;)

What we should do is show us his specs and start/continue a civil conversation about his performance and how to maximize it.

Windows 7 64bits

i5-4670K CPU @ 3.40GHz (4 CPUs)

8Gb RAM

Gigabyte Geforce GTX 770 4096 Mb GDDR5

Directx 11

Internet 200 MB

80Gb free space

ROG motherboard

With all this the game still barely reaches 47-50 FPS on ultra graphic settings and the servers themselves are often pretty laggy especially since last update(s).

So can you help me or will you just delete/edit this message ???

ALSO I NEVER INSULTED YOU!!! There's a difference between sarcasm and insults...

Last thing the game crash and freeze very often and it's not just me we're dozens...probably more.

Hauggy, have you tried running the game on High instead? Try skimming through threads like this one and pick up a couple of good suggestions from there. I am by no means knowledgeable in hardware but considering most people using the GTX970 are running High instead of Ultra (at 1080p) and that from my research people see on average a 20% increase between the GTX770 and GTX970, it is likely that you are wishing too much from your card rather than a game problem.

Just a thought.

isn't 50, or even 30 good enough ?

For me it is... coming from FSX and XP10 land...

Why are you complaining about that FPS value? That's darn good.

I've spent a lot of time tweaking my system to get BoS to run good enough. One thing to check make sure your nvidia vsync setting is set to Use the 3D application setting. And then turn vsync on in the game with fullscreen off (borderless window on) Also try 1 or 2 max frames ahead in nvidia control panel. But even with a frame-rate that is "good enough" there's more pauses/stutters than I think there should be for a flight sim, I hope they focus on optimization, reduce loading pauses, microstutter and make sure we can get a consistent FPS (fluctuating FPS is never good) And if it would help to ENABLE extra graphics options that we could customize then they should do that too...

Have you considered overclocking the CPU?

Thanks for the helpful answers.

Regarding the CPU I won't try to overclock it as it is very hazardous with this model of CPU as far as I know.

Just a thought.

The game utiluzes a max of 2 GB of my GPU so it's not like there are high demands in that area (exeption is the hangar screen, it really strains my whole system to its max). What I could observe with my system (similar to hauggy) is relatively higj CPU usage and big pagefiles (usually 10Gb) that seem to slow the game down and cause struttering.

Even when high up and at constabt 60 FPS the game micro strutters.

I've tried every proposed fix/helpfull advice and in my case it worked nothing.

i5 4670K should be able to do 4.3-4.5Ghz easy (though if using stock cooler you should keep it to 4Ghz due to temperatures)

High settings are definitely worth trying too. The visual differences between that and ultra are negligible, but you get a significant performance gain.

Posted

Hauggy, I strongly recommend to oc your cpu. I had 4670k which was not very good specimen but it overclocked easily to the 4.2GHz.

And like others here recommended, drop from ultra to high and you'll be fine.

Below 60 is pretty poor, IMO.
