Very happy that new things are being tried, and the server is never content with just leaving things as they are because it's the easier thing to do. Sucks that people are abusing it, I mean it is a public war in a public server. Which has it's pros and cons. But regarding the Stukas with 37mm, after one circle the Il-2 should be squarely behind him. Stuka (with 37mm) will lose speed faster, and will take longer to accelerate so if the Il-2 gets in trouble, it can just run away from the Stuka . Luckily for us this is getting fixed by the admins with the changes to the plane set, but to another point, I have done this. You get forced into it. You need combat missions to replenish your aircraft but you're out of everything that isn't unlimited. All enemy ground targets are already destroyed and without help, attacking an airfield is suicide -- so that wont help you get aircraft back. Your team is already outnumbered (VVS) and every last team mate is desperately trying to defend a severely damaged airfield from capture, so going anywhere by yourself is also suicide. So, take the unlimited .42 because transports don't count as combat missions and defend your airfield. If you get hit just quickly land and maybe get a combat mission out of it. Your team is there so you at least can get some support. Other option is go to WOL, but when I can get back on TAW, I will still need to fly the IL2 until I get my combat missions. The plane set fix that was posted above sounds good. Not sure why columns in general are static. Would love to see them moving, as this would make them harder to find and they would run for cover during attack. If this is a problem maybe there should be more tank columns? Side note: Trains! Where are they? They were used extensively for supply as well. I think they should be included for supply purposes BUT should not show as a target on the map. Both moving columns and trains exist on other servers. I think at the moment it takes too many resources which cause servers to lag. With the new patch coming out (specifically the move to DirectX 11) the servers should be able to handle much more AI involvement, at least I hope. I think moving convoys will appear (and trains too) after this patch. However... And when it comes to software and DirectX stuff, I have no real knowledge. So, I may be wrong. And trust me, if I am, someone will point it out and correct it.
Mekanikol Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 I think I screwed up my registration. I couldn't get my actual nick to register so I tried registering with "Mekanikol1" instead of just Mekanikol thinking there might be another "Mek" out there some how. Then it registered fine but I couldn't get my actual nick to register still. I tried resetting the password but it will only reset it for Mekanikol1, not Mekanikol. I feel like an idiot. Please go easy on me here. lol

In winter for example when it isn't dark yet and planes are still clearly seen AA don't fire at them as AA are blind. It's a bug? Maybe they need searchlights, we will have to test it. Implementing and testing searchlights in convoys and then on airfields, defense, depot etc. will take a time. From my limited knowledge of the mission editor, yes, by design all AAA units needs searchlights to fire once it gets too dark. A workaround could be to set the possible mission start time according to the map we are playing on. For example : 6:00; 9:00; 12:00; 16:00; 19:00 on summer map 8:00; 11:00; 14:00; 17:00 on autumn 9:00; 12:00; 15:00 on winter (don't take these examples too seriously, it's just for showing the principle) So we can still have missions when the sun is very low on the horizon but with the AAA actively firing without searchlights.

When will we start a new one? well the vvs won the last campaign so thats why the server is out of action. if the previous campaign is of any idication then it could be a month before the next one since the admins take the time in between campaigns to implement/reprogram the server rules and scripts.... that being said, TAW is what brought me back to flying BOS/M on a daily basis and upgrading my pc. if TAW is offline for too long than perhaps maybe i will too i would also like to know an ETA on a new campaign and also a question, is it possible to implement another campaign with the same rules as the one that just ended while working on a "TEST BRANCH" sepparately? one can always hope! :D Awesome fun on TAW today! :D 1

And as you can see such simple thing like changing mission hour from 14:00 to 16:00 may complex many other things. Long story short: it's complex Maybe in a future they will be moving. Kathon - yes, you do need to put a spotlight with each gun battery to enable them to activate both at night and during dawn/evening periods. If you were to use groups and just add a spotlight to the template this should be sufficient. We do this for all AAA groups used in our co-op missions. 2

I really liked this map, despite the dogfight little experience I have. But rather improve other aspects, such as the orientation flight at very low altitude. Maybe there are some aspects to improve (like static tanks and truks), but still a very well thought-out map. What I was getting tired 5 flights to retrieve a lost plane. I could never have my FW purchased available. And add trains is a good idea, you can see smoking and no icon add maybe, it will be interesting to find it, and they will be used to supply attacked AF, or to gain position by deploying forces in some places. This will be positive when the map is unbalanced I think. Cheers!

Amongst these was the idea of Resupply/Sorties based on balance and maybe even sortie type. This could potentially fix the lack of fighters on USSR side and also make USSR more attactive to newer players that mostly go axis. Originally ADW had different specialized squads, it was working quite well on first 3 maps when people were collecting the points and fighting hard to unlock better versions of the planes then when they achieved that they were mostly loosing motivation to fly longer and server was loosing 1/3 of the players. It was especially unfiar to the red players who had worst planeset at the begin and better at the end of the war. Just ask RedEye_Tumu, LeLv8_Otto, JG700_Rammjager and other ADW vets. 2nd important thing, ADW was based on IL-2 1946 where you could easily change your tag/nickname, so you could have plenty of accounts and be a teammember of different fighter/attack/bomber squads, here it would be annoying to change the name every time you want to fly in a different plane. Kathon have some idea how to solve that problem but it also needs coding. 3rd. Some people are dedicated to 1 type, but fighting on online war demands flexibility, sometimes you need to cover targets, sometimes destroy them. Specially when there is not much players on the server and you want to "save the situation". 4th. Dedicated teams means - you need to be in a team. We have plenty of freelancers. It would force them to create one man squads. Ask them if they want to play like that . I think this idea is very good, but would be good to ask other players about it ( do they want to be attached to 1type till the end of the war ), find a good logic/procedure and then check it in practice. Even during last battle, when LW had very few planes, we could have see people trying to vulch on russian airfields, loosing their planes (even 1 rammed a friend of mine as he was landing...)I mean, in my LaGG, I try to engage when I'm with a clear superiority. With the 23mm I knew that a direct hit would end with an ennemy down. With the 20mm i will be a totally other story. Against an opponent who wants to save his plane, if I shoot him, he will try to run home, no problem here. BUT with someone running for the kills, he will fight back even if he was hit, and clearly, my LaGG will be no match for him (I'm not a very good pilot, but a decent one I guess). My point here is that the 23mm is very effective, but has only 90 rounds and is on a plane that will clearly be a very easy prey for any german fighter with a little bit of skill. Without this, I don't know how we could even obtain a Yak! So please, reconsider.On another hand, perhaps you could introduce a quota of planes per dayt per pilot. I mean, a bad pilot that will crash all his fighters and then a lot of Ju87/Il2 is a pain in the a** for his teammates. We see that lots of battle ended because of planes shortage. Perhaps a way to avoid this is to limit the number of planes used per day (I mean real days, for real life) to 5 or 6 per player. What do you think? BR

Then you would have more fighters, bombers ,attack planes or default proportion. It's yet another coder task, could be done after more important ones. Maybe at this stage it would be easier to select your own role only (not implemenet squads at this stage): Fighter Bomber Mixed and based on that you would have more of plane types you prefer (bomber or fighter). However, like mentioned this is not urgent feature to implement. Later on squads could be implemented with added features of planesets, extra planes, squad ranks etc. 1

BR 23mm will not be available only for the basic planes you have at the beginning. When you fly combat missions and earn points you will be able to upgrade to the 23mm on the LaGG
