Finkeren Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 Ahhh so it's the icon distance indication that's off? Strange that this happens specifically to one plane type, but it makes sense, that this type of bug would slip under the radar for so long, compared to a rendering issue. Good work. You definately need to PM Han or LOFT about this.
LLv44_Kanttori Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Finkeren, we are waiting the rest of ID-guides, they are really good! I have shared them to all Finnish players. Are you gonna finish this great job?
NN_Elanion Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 " Are you gonna finish this great job? :)" +1Thx for that
Finkeren Posted April 27, 2016 Author Posted April 27, 2016 Hi guys: Sorry for not giving you an update. Yes, I'm gonna finish the guide. Hopefully very soon. The last 4-5 weeks have been extremely stressful for me, and it's been hard for me to balance family life, two jobs, loads of birthdays and other celebrations, so I've had to put both gaming and this guide on hold for a little while. Right now I'm finishing up some translation work, which should be done by friday, and after that, I'll devote my full attention to finishing the guide, which shouldn't take more than a few days. Thank you for you patience and continued interest. 3
Remontti Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Thanks for that idea! The outcome is really interesting, in the attached pictures you see one time a 109 (flown by myself) in front of an AI P40, in the other a 109 in front of a Mig. It turns out that the distance indication seems to be wrong for the P40! Figure that it is clearly behind the 109 from point of view, nevertheless the indicated distance is smaller, while for 109 and Mig the relation is o.k. So my impression is now there is a bug with the distance indication for the P40 .... It seems that the distance for P40 is showed in miles rather than kilometers. Made a post about it bug section.
Mekanikol Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Really fantastic work! Thanks so much for everyone's commitments to the project. My friend and I just started playing this past month so any helpful guides like this one are invaluable.
=gRiJ=Roman- Posted December 5, 2016 Posted December 5, 2016 I'm an speechless for the high level of awesomeness displayed in here.
WWGeezer Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 Finkeren, great stuff, used your content added some others to get the full plane set. Not as polished as yours, will update the sheet once your fine work is complete. For now am just trying to get a quick reference sheet for dogfighting. If you put too much on the page starts loosing value for me. I also eliminated some of the yaks, so the fighters would fit on an 8.5 x 11 page. If I'm flying German, just want to know if its Russian or not.
Lemon Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 i really like the (possible confusion with) part , i did nt read all posts but if it still your intention to include it, it will be the first time for me to see a recognition guide with those infos, it will help to focus on what to look at on the plane, example for me is the p39, few first missions i had hard time to see the differences with the 109 because i was watching the wings, as soon i realized the p39 nose look much thin and longer it become really easy to identify the plane. thanks for your time to help other, anyways you do it

No biggie, slip of the fingers
Pictor Posted July 21, 2018 Posted July 21, 2018 Hi, I was prepared for myself that's charts to hang at A3 format. Mayby will be useful for somebody too. TCW_Brzi_Joe Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Hello guys, I took your pics for my game: Thank you!
Dallas88B Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 @Pictor Can I bother you....is it possible for you to post your excellent charts to hang at A3 format again (seems the transfer has expired - they only last 7 days on 'wetransfer')

I took some screen shots using the method you describe. Overlayed them and got this image here. I am using IL2 version 4.005d so maybe in this version its different to what you got before. This image seems to show relative sizes that one would expect (in real life the Bf109 F4 was 9.92m wing span and the P40E was 11.3m). Really a terrific diagram showing the relative sizes of the aircraft ... just whats needed. Are you still working on this project? Will you be creating a version with Bodenplatte aircraft? Thanks for your good work. Edited May 9, 2020 by Dallas88B Added Nocke address
Nocke Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Somewhere in the settings you can change measurement units to be fixed or depending on the plane. I had that set to plane dependent at some point and then forgotten about. As a result I got the distance for the P40 shown in miles, for the 109 in kilometers, resulting in my confusion.
Dallas88B Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 (edited) @216th_Nocke Well done figuring that out - who would have thought. I found it...its in Settings/Game/Regional Settings - here choose Metric or Imperial or Plane Dependent Will you be creating a version with Bodenplatte aircraft? (would be great if you do - would only need to add some of them a 109 is a 109, pretty much ...etc) (I have tried creating my own but clearly I failed graphics skills 101) Edited May 10, 2020 by Dallas88B added graphics skills 101
RaymondSte Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 (edited) Can somebody please direct me to the link for the guide. The one posted above is dead. I can't find it. Or are the two images several posts above mine what I'm supposed to copy? Thanks. Edited July 14, 2020 by RaymondSte
