CpnCholo Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 (edited) I know Cpn Cholo ended up in his chute but not sure how That I can answer... I was circling east of our target trying to hook up with you guys. Not a good spot to circle at as it turns out since it was just by a German Airstrip and i was leaving a nice trail. Predictably VonAlba in his BF-110 turned up and decided that i needed a complimentary "colander upgrade" Also; Two stabilizers are one too many The end result was equally predictable (fireball). I don't know how but it seems that VonAlba was able to get back to base after that collission... The second flight was flawless though, a good portion of our combined 40 x 100 kg bombs hit their marks. Special thanks to JimTM for his great planning and leadership! J37_Spyboy Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Apologies I couldn't make it, next time...if you will allow! 1
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 The Pe-2s and LaGG-3s did a great job, nice flying with you chaps In our first mission the AAA wasn't kidding and started to take out our aircraft one by one. Snake then instructed mine and Rekt's pair to go down and terminate it, so I spotted a ship which was firing and dove on it while Rekt took aim at a 20mm gun nearby. I dropped my first bomb, set to explode upon contact, and the ship went up in flames. While climbing out I looked back right on time to see Rekt diving on the flak gun but seconds later came a fireball. Seeking revenge, I turned around and set course for the same AA gun. I shot at it, and shot at it some more, then dropped a bomb which landed some 7 metres from it... but as I closed in the gunners opened fire and sent me burning into the ground right next to Rekt. Snake and Rogge dished out some revenge for us though My second sortie was ended by Neun's skilful gunnery, always there to remind me that one can't be too distracted when 4./JG 52 is around. Nice one! While suppressing flak at Sekretov airfield for the Pe-2s, this time my bombs actually hit a 20mm gun right on the head. With the speed obtained from the dive, I started a climb, looking back. I saw some tracers coming from far, far away, and a Bf-109 which appeared to be some 500-800m behind me. I figured I had enough space and speed to keep the separation. As I approached the top of the climb however, the enemy drew closer... and closer... Snake saw it all happen and instructed me to break. I figured I had time. The spinner of the Bf-109 was clearly visible by now, and when I realised how bad the situation was it was too late. Lots of rounds shook my LaGG-3 as its nose dropped without speed. Wounded but still breathing I tried to pull out of the dive, only to realise that I was dealing with locked ailerons and only one elevator was still responding. The rudder seemed to ignore my actions. When I attempted to pull back on the stick for what seemed like an easy recovery, the aircraft started a downwards barrel roll and that's how I went in at 500 km/h. Reposting here for Lofte:Hi everybodyMade 1 sortie for Axis side on He-111As I understood, anybody on He-111 must have do some recon photos of Noviy Rogachek. curiousGamblerr Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Awesome fight guys. I had a ton of fun. First sortie, 19.G+Seafire protected the supply train in a flight of Yaks. Manu and Park provided close cover while p3z, Seafire and me ranged further to the West to cut off the attack. In this configuration, we engaged a trio of 109s near the front. It was a savage fight, and with p3z shot down followed by Seafire getting sniped by Hund. Somehow I managed to escape, scissoring furiously back across the Don. At the same time, Manu and Park engaged 110s at the train, with Park scoring two victories. With Manu, p3z and Seafire all out of the sky, and Park reporting damage and fuel loss, I returned to the train. I was damaged but nothing critical- just lots of holes in my airframe. I was able to link up with Park and relieve him so he could RTB successfully. I requested immediate reinforcements from Manu and Seafire, since I was alone, damaged and low on ammo above a critical supply train. They arrived in fresh aircraft shortly and I was able to RTB safely. Second real sortie was to take some rockets to Sekretov in Yaks for AA suppression (after a cancelled mission in between). We took off in a flight of 5 again, but lost p3z to "mechanical" problems. The remaining four Yaks arrived at Sekretov, just as Pe-2s attacked Surovikino. Turns out there was some miscommunication, but our attack on Sekretov served as a good distraction as bombers pummeled Surovikino. We caught a couple 110s on the ground, shining nav lights brightly and begging us to attack with rockets. My first pass, I missed with two pairs of rockets. As I came around, Manu strafed by original target, causing heavy smoke from his left engine. His gunner continued to fire, however, so I swooped down and secured (read: stole) the kill. The aforementioned gunner made me pay, however, damaging my coolant systems in the process. I headed back to base, crash landing in enemy territory- but I managed to escape! (aka, Manu rolled an 8 for me ) All in all, it was a blast! Can't wait for next week. 3
