I watched 20 seconds of the video and had to turn it off..........to stop me getting over excited!!!!, watching the way the aircraft bounced gently on the ground while taxiing was very well done, the physics are looking good, this sim is going to be really very pleasant to fly.

Your Sim is looking very nice. Keep up the good work! I hope you guys add an option for something similar to EZDOK.

LOL Bongo had to go change his skivvies LOL

will the developers give us a chance to look at the manual before release of the game?

Posted

Okay… I have watched the video 127 times. Maybe an exaggeration but I have watched it a bunch. The development team has done an amazing job with the details and it's all about details. The 3-D depth of the gunsight, the way the sun reflects off the fuselage, the way the wheels turn, the glow of the flames off the canopy. And me thinks this is the tip of the iceberg. It all adds up to a sense of realism that will give this sim a soul which is an amazing accomplishment.

Great video! Thx

It looks amazing guys! I cant wait to see the rest of the planes!

Three pages in, and I couldn't figure out why nobody was complaining this week. Just saw the video and Woooooww!!!

Complaints get deleted...  So there is no point.

I see legitimate criticism here, and there's no problem with that. Some of the disparaging remarks some people have said really have no place on a forum that we don't pay to keep up. So if they get deleted, that's fine by me.

BS. Unwarranted griping and repeated misinformed complaints might. But there are countless posts from posters here who have B****ed ad nauseam. It does get tiresome for everyone.

No other BOS-video I have watched so often, even the early LaGG3-leak :)

This is my personal perception of course but there is that feeling in BOS. Take LaGG for instance with all the sounds of roaring engine, whistling wind and whiffing pneumatics, vibrating and tilting - you actually feel like you're inside of a big and heavy piece of metal and wood and with hundreds of HP right in front of you..! Well, you'll get it soon and check it out yourselves :)

And with Oculus Rift must be incredible the feeling to be in the cockpit.

^^ this!

everything is going so great up until now, there is no way it is going to turn to hell-moaning-angry topic.

it is surprising... but in a good way. I happen to found it quite a bit tiring lately  ;)

I'm getting giddy thinking about it, this is going to be the very first flight simulator title to have in built OR support (no WT doesn't count as it is a arcade shoot'em up).

The ground handleing gives so much life to the aircraft, looked real.

yea well PC Gamer (DEC) just did a write up on Both the WT and BOS and gave WT a big mention of a combat WWII flight sim.

awesome video thanks Loft for putting in the wheel trails in the snow awesome work!!

Yeah i read that article. What a joke. Its pretty clear they had no idea what makes a flight sim.

As far as OR support. I have no doubt that il2 will be one of OR flagship titles. I see big things happening with 1cgs and OR. No proof. Just my gut feeling.

As usual, but in BoS especially i'll get so lost flying about just enjoying all the sounds, views, details.... suddenly...dakka dakka dakka on my 6... :) ... but alas the development boyz took care of it and we have a weapons free time with this alpha build. Oh joy.

Yes and no. I've tried dev OR unit with WT and... I preffer having TrackIR. Unless they're going to implement 6DOF (not sure if they've changed mind about that part since I didn't follow news about it) it's rather a toy and getting one bundled Razer Hydra it's way WAY too overpriced in my opinion. On the pros side looking arround is a bit more precise.

The dk2 will have an hd screen as well as 6dof. For about what the original devkit cost. Or so they say. I know people who have tried the hd version and they have said its going to be very capable of delivering a high enough fidelity experience to accomadate flight sims and its special need to be able to spot enemies at a distance. The 6 dof will reduce the motion sickness for alot of people.

Ive played bos with their implentation of the OR. And it needs some work. There are some fov issues. For example you could see each edge of the screen like you were looking at the scene through a window. The 3d effect was there. And done well. But they need to increase the area that you see so that it fills the entire fov. Not a hard thing to change. Its just a tweak of fov numbers. The camera was also seemingly attached to the pilots head animations. An it moved about the cockpit without input. Kind of disorienting. Also the gunsight needs to be properly rendered so that its visible in both eyes at one time.

But these things are easy to fix. And honestly if i were the dev team. Id wait to fix them until the hd version is out. So they arent duplicating effort. We know it works. We know it wont take a lot of effort to dial it in. But non the less. Doing it twice would be silly. Especially when there are other things to finish.

Hmmm... thanks for tip, gonna make my friend surprise (he wanted to buy my OR dk1 since I wasn't using it much and we got another one at work :D) so I can prepare financialy for dk2 :3 As for spoting - for me greater issue allways was to spot enemy on highres ground background, hopefully 3D in OR will be enough to get rid of that issue for me. IF they implement 6dof it's gonna be amazing then :P

I can tell you that the 3d effect is done very well, Almost too good.  several times while I was trying to crane to look behind me at an enemy I was reaching for the gun sight to help twist my body around.  The gun sight of coarse was not there.

Also I thought that the 3d effect was slightly over done when trying to focus on the ground, the cockpit spar naturally goes blurry and doubles.  But it doubled immensely far apart.  Again, these are all things that are tweak able.  And for all I know they have been tweaked.  I got to try its implementation literally 2 weeks after it had been accomplished.

But just the fact that it all worked, just needed tweaking, was by far the biggest thrill I have had in flight sims in a LONG time.  I can just imagine that when dreaming about the sorties you one just accomplished will be much more intense.  The feeling of "being there" is mind blowing.

- started engine and cockpit vairation syn with sound ( at row rpt )  very good

- internal and external sound  model very good  ( I hope  this will cut  out)   "sound sonar"  like  old il2 made it  ,   because I like a surprise attack  LOL

- while taxing in dert snow and see  plane body sping up and down like a nature  .... very very good. ( sory for my engilsh )

This team making a good future for this SIM.

wow. Wow.

Thanks for the update. The game is coming along alot better. Even Clod doesn't ground handle like this. And DCS-P-51 doesn't give a realistic feel the way that LAGG did.

nailed it!

Shouldn't have to remove the whines . . . people might be interested in adding to their blockist. in a perfect world, shouldn't have to whine in the first place.

and this is just alpha,

so it gets better.

I was very impressed by the ground handling on the video too. Never seen anything like this in any flight-sim so far, and it will really add to the immersion.

It is the latest in an increasingly impressive array of ground-breaking features:

the quality and realism of the pilots - animations, bail-outs

the new cone lights and internal cockpit lighting (that is visible externally)

the single-player career concept with server-generated content

the AI - based on the description a few weeks back

Salute to all my old friends here and let's cross fingers ...

I never liked Pre-order systems, however I invested (choose to pay) about $80 for this game, and many people did the same.

That is the reason why many people are expecting alot things from dev. on BoS. It is not only about the money but the trust.

Honestly, I am bit disappointed that you guys postponed the release date. I hope it doesn't happen again.

Otherwise, video is looking good. Please keep up the good work.

Shame the early access got postponed, but understand the decision. No worries there. I watched the video there, looks nice and seems we are in for a treat. I just wonder about the sound. You can hear pneumatic hissess and stuff while the engine is roaring in front of you with cockpit open. Or are sounds yet WIP and levels not set? I bet you can not hear much in the cockpit once the engine is started up. Otherwise top notch!

Ok, who really looked close? Who noticed the reflections off the ice crystals?

There are four or five great little eggs in there. I also like the interactive snow.

I wonder if during a summer time frame or spring if the water will spray around.

The exhaust has actual correct engine timing, did we notice that?

Did the gauges appear to have a fog on them until the "Cockpit warmed up", or was that just my video acting crazy?

Credit where it is due, from what I see here they have things going rather well.

Tuesday is almost here. So we will get our hands on it soon. Any later than the 12th, and they should do something for the not so early access buyers....

I don´t know if you have noticed :)

We are not going to finish a game version of proper quality by November 12th. At this moment it still requires some more work to be done, and after that - a small series of tests in the studio. That's why I have to postpone the start of early access for 1 week, and launch it on November 19th.

Oh I noticed, and I predicted this exact thing, and everyone was on me about it. All I have to say is, I told you so...

Oddly enough, so did the developers. They told us last week there's a chance it could be delayed a week. Big deal, still autumn.

Yep, what's 40$ extra right. No worries at all really.  It's all good as long as the "Winter" access buyers are pushed back equally since some paid extra and all that. Dev curve is a dev curve, and should effect ALL equally right.

I feel jealous from all of us, the reason, below my avatar

No. $40 got you a host of unlocks, the 190 and La5. This intentional misrepresentation of $40 just for earlier access being the difference between Premium and Standard needs to stop.

Delaying access for silver founders would make you happy? Man, you must be really bitter to want to take it out on us.
