You have NO way of knowing that...

Bearcat, Freycinet was making a joke, if you didn't know.

What I'm wondering about is if we will ever see skis as a modification for aircraft?

And will we see additional improvement to gear physics like bending and hydraulic failure?

oooh those ground contact physics are cool

Those ground physics look incredible.

+1

Although the ground physics of BoS have already been the best on the market,

these new additions look really fantastic !

SO this means we won't have WT jerks taking off in any direction they please???

Love the ground fx!  I wonder what mud will be like.

Really really impressed. I'm hoping that now that the physics are in that a soggy airfield might be possible.

But that's wishful thinking.

I am really super impressed with this!

When I saw that Emil drift on the ice I was smiling.

The plane bumping in the grass was like watching some real ac doing that.

Coming back on the tarmac really showed the plane was struggling to get out of the grass as it immediately accelerated.

+ the summer/autumn maps are coming...

+ the Emil...

This has got to be the best dev team in the universe.

Thanks for the update.

I'm all for soggy airfields.

New effect of landing on the ice is great..

New snow Model, now you will not see pilots take off out runway...

Really good news, is the next week new summer maps and new campaigns..

Great Job!

Does anyone know if the tanks will be out with this release??

Now this looks amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great work and Cheers

Almost certainly not. The video from last week was clearly a teaser.

I'm not even sure we'll see them before BoM is done. I think it's more of a long-term project looking forward to a future Battle of Kursk as the next in the series, but that's just me doing wild speculation.

:good: Those ground physics are awesome!!  :good:

Takeoffs and landings just got a lot more interesting.

Anyone literally up for a landing and drift style competition? Il create a thread after its been out for a while for people to post vids. Maybe even setup a little prize structure

Syncronized figure skating competition?

The video of the bumpy ride by the runway makes me wonder, how is one supposed to land outside of runways and frozen lakes, e.g. if you run out of fuel. Is one condemned to damage the landing gears and the prop?

Also, regarding tank release, I think I read on the Russian forums devs would give more information regarding their plans shortly after 1.104 is out. It does not mean we'll get dates, but who knows...

I think one is mostly condemned to crash-land in those cases, particularly in winter and muddy/soft ground areas. Though I have no life experience, landing a 3 ton brick at speed in uneven terrain where the wheels are prone to getting stuck sounds tricky.

Posted

There were many vids shown real of aircraft trying to land gear down in deep and shallow snow posted, (very unsuccessful)  when the unrealistic snow/landing behaviour was being debated long ago

Looking forward to test out what seems like much more believable 'real life'  behaviour ;)

...

A related question. I've always wondered how many, if any, of the runways in BOS are grass strips? There seems to be a lot of paved or concrete runways?

Fantastic and amazing looking update by the way. I have been waiting for the new maps for so long.

This is the biggest improvement ever !!!

Just typical of this development team, absolutely no sense of priorities. What is it about FLIGHT simulator they don't understand? - This is not an ice skating sim or a bobsledding sim. Any effort expended towards ground physics is obviously taken away from the ESSENTIAL work of improving flight physics and adding a flyable Ju-52.

Rant over, and oh yeah: just kidding :-D        Awesome vid!

You have NO way of knowing that...

Bearcat, I was joking as I indicated at the end of my posting with "just kidding :-D"

I think spring and autumn maps with mud should be quite easy to make with a few small modifications. It would basically behave just like the deep snow we see in the vid, perhaps with the ruts disappearing a bit faster. So, basically just colour the snow brown and we're in business!

yes this is nice - indeed.

next step - will be a dream with ATC on airfield and flight

so I say "Gehen Sie ins Vorzimmer" --> wait

Will the ground physics extend to the airplane props? I've bent more blades than I can count by barely brushing a treetop. Will the same thing happen getting low in the grass?

Hedge Trimming ay? One would think a metal prop could trim a bit of tree! But getting that realistic could be a bit of a waste of time in comparison to flying 6ft higherlol

True enough but where is the challenge in that?? :)

Looks really great. But as we saw the drifting Emil, the secret of how the new campaign will look like, is gone. It's going to be "Rallye Stalingrad".

Posted

Drifting on the Volga o yeah! How cool! LOL Jason's post

Ground physics certainly add more emersion I think, (especially with the throttle use on different surfaces).

The image of "tumulus of Mamai", commemorating the Battle of Stalingrad is a nice touch, and that aerial shot  with the Ju looks fantastic!

Great update. It will be so nice not to have to watch those awful people blasting off across the ground with no regard for anyone or anything else.

Maybe even a Smash em up Derby with the ammo! :)

May be the case that it sorts this out for the winter map and deep snow...just as everyone and all the servers switch to summer...where it may still be possible to tear off over the grass...

I hope not.

The new ground handling looks very good. Maybe my Dirt Rally skills will come in handy.  :P
