I/JG27_Rollo Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 @ Zak, Jason, or similar: The Developer Diary entry states a testmap-size of 500 x 50 km. That seems a bit ... rectangular. Is it actually that size or did you mean to write 50 x 50 km? (I don't imagine it to be 500x500 as that would be bigger than the actual Stalingrad map...) Thank you in advance for clarifying this. 1
ACG_Dickie Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 (edited) That's quite good in places. I saw it earlier over at the site Osprey's associated with. They've done a better job of matching their dialogue with than most such vids do. You refer to this: http://www.aircombatgroup.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=1057 Which is in an open part of the forum for BOS, it isn't for ACG members only and the video was created and posted by a non ACG person, just a registered user of the forums. You will find the same video on Storm Of War here http://www.stormofwar.net/t682-bos-update-39-is-out#6990. At ACG we don't seem to have forum problems and perhaps that because we don't have so many rules. We only have one rule, "don't be a dick" and apart from that you can pretty much say what you like. It works well and is far less effort, never had to even warn anybody let alone ban them. I found the video amusing all the same. Edited November 3, 2013 by Osprey 2
Livai Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 What I really hope is for the Developer Diary Part 40 is a download link to preload the game?! I don't think that someone would like to spend the 3 days with downloading?

Bearcat Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 That video was funny.. fior what it was worth.. This is the 4th one I have seen like that. I think the first one was with CFS3.
Dakpilot Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Was funny but I preferred the CLoD one, where he ended up wanting to go play fishing simulator sadly they are getting a bit old now... . Is it actually that size or did you mean to write 50 x 50 km? On russian forum in dev.diary it's 50x50km So, i think it's just misprint. 3
=FB=Weeper Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 (edited) Thanks Weeper. np! And by the way 4th November it's national holiday in Russia. So, don't expect much from Moscow office today Edited November 4, 2013 by =FB=Weeper

Yes, it was a mistake, I corrected it. Test map has a size of 50x50 km. What I really hope is for the Developer Diary Part 40 is a download link to preload the game?! I don't think that someone would like to spend the 3 days with downloading? We’ll probably let you download and pre-install the game prior to the launch of early access. Current game client size is approximately 2GB in size. 5
White1 Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Thanks guys. I'm really looking forward to roam the IL2 skies again! The F4 looks awesome btw.

Pudfark Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Really like the updates here and the progress made in less than one year. Very commendable. Much looking forward to purchasing and having another decade of flying fun. S! 1

DD_bongodriver Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Not sure, but there is only 1 aircraft and no guns on a 50x50km map anyway, I don't think the purpose of the alpha is to make a game of it but rather an incremental test for the devs to monitor.
SYN_Jedders Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Pretty much, Bongo. Start the game, tweak your graphics, select plane, configure controls, start engine and takeoff, fly a few circuits, climb a bit, dive a bit, attempt a landing, shut down game, wait for next update. Oh, and dont forget to make a post on how great/crap it all is Cant wait 1
thx1138 Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 So there's no multiplayer? No multiplayer, no quick mission builder, no mission editor. We will have to login online just to fly offline (aka Rise Of Flight) What we are getting is 1 aircraft (LaGG 3) with NO weapons, and a 50km x 50km map to fly it in. If we get an airfield to use it will be great. Remember, we are getting a 30% finished alpha release of BOS. We are NOT getting 70% of the game, keep that in mind people ! 1
Uufflakke Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 @Uther: those hamsters remind of customers waiting for the Apple Store to get open. For the newest iPhone or whatsoever. @thx1138: it means that with a 30% finished map with the size of 50x50 km map we can expect approx. a 150x150 km final version somewhere in May 2014? Just kiddin'.
mudpuppy Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 360 km x 230 km is nearly 83,000 sq.km. Roughly the size of Switzerland & Denmark combined. For us in the states that should be about 32,000 sq.mi. Or about the size of the state of Maine. That is a big area to fly in. Or for me, it'll be a huge area to get lost in. Derek

HeavyCavalrySgt Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Too bad that big resovoir won't be there yet. That looks like a huge airfield if the surface is frozen. It is funny how Lake El'ton always looks golden. I think it must be really, really shallow. A salt mine, I think?
71st_AH_Hooves Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 thats a great way illustration! I knew it was going to be a large area, but HOLY COW!!!!
Phant0m Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Cannot wait for tomorrows dev diary - I assume it will let us know exactly what features to look forward to. Will we be getting any assistance in the form of engine start and general operating procedures, or are we flying blind? Either way, very excited.

I just hope it will not start with: "Unfortunatelly.."
OBT-Psycho Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I think that you will mostly have to find out yourself. You won't be blind, your sight will be enlightened by the infinite knowledge of the community NAAAAAaa just kidding, expect a fair share of the community going crazy on how this soft is incomplete and all... But for your problems, I think there will be no manual or so, but fortunatelly they told us there will not be a "complicated startup procedure". It will mostly by "set up radiator open, mixture on rich, hit "E" and fly 'til you drop". Of course you will overheat some engines, or mess up mixture setting, but then you will have learned your lesson and avoid that on the next trip. GOD I just want to be tuesday
messer79 Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 (edited) I feel like receiving Il2 BOS download link (maybe a torrent) along with a diary update tomorrow. Do you also feel the same? Edited November 7, 2013 by messer79
Volkoff Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 im not sure if you guys are aware, but there will be no multiplayer in the first sessions, confirmed by one of the devs in the DD38, somewhere near the end. So no Tarans, no air races, nothing other than clipping trees. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/1763-developer-diary-part-38/?p=43606 This is very good news. I wouldn't mind if we did not have PVP multiplayer until the Yak-1 is released. The LaGG-3 should be a great bomber interceptor, but ideal BF-109F-4 dance partner she is not. The Yak-1 is more of a Wolfman to the 109's Dracula. MJ
hiro Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Dude, it'd be awesome if they put that out there. It'd be great if multiplayer came with guns! I'm exciting but I'm not holding hopes they'll put the d/l and say its ready next week. Not until it's official. Great expectations falsely understood have lead to epic disasters ( even if the layers are peeled / truth distilled may reveal a severe over reaction and an inconvenience vs a large problem) . . . In regarding the dual core, I can get dual core processors and motherboards for free (company is junking older pc's). Video games rely alot on graphics card so if one throws a GeForce GTX 770 it'll run a good number of current games w/out a hitch, but on the same side of the coin, dual core is a weaker link in the chain (than a quad or six / 8) . . . so I'll probably build both machines, one for gaming and another for everything else.
whatnot Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 (edited) The screenies indicate that we might soon have the best looking combat flight sim ever in our hands! Not sure if I can log many hours during the weekdays, but I trust that the forum members alone will upload hundreds of hours of 1080p material to youtube for us less fortunate. Thanks for the update! Edited November 8, 2013 by whatnot
Allons Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 With Moro and Tatsi being overrun at middle December there will be not many friendly airspace left in the west f.i. for bombers to gain altitude. Lets see
Karost Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 It look Clever turn Founder to be a sim tester (imho) I believe +50 % of us has experiece over 10 years for flight sim. I hope +10 % of us has a pilot license ( but not me ) I hope is someone share a (short) LaGG testing list and improve it to ( test guid line ) it is look fun when all of us can read the test result . again just my (imho)
