actionjoe Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 It will be the month of the Taran! I know some people who will appreciate this! 2
kestrel79 Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Looking forward to some solid flight training before the guns. Nothing wrong with that.
rolikiraly Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 (edited) It's nice to know they are actually focusing on the final product and not the intermediate stages. Edited November 1, 2013 by rolikiraly 1
Zak Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 "The Mission Editor will become available in the Spring" very bad news! Sorry, but this is as early as it gets. On the other hand you'll have enough assets in Spring to make proper missions. Shhh! don't let them hear you Yeah, right, and who are they?
I/JG27_Rollo Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Sounds like a plan and I can't wait for the 12th. Also I love what you have done with the founder's skin. It looks amazing!
FlatSpinMan Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Okay guys. I'm going to jump in with a pre-emptive warning to: 1. Stay calm and civil when discussing your opinion of this latest news 2. Avoid comments and little flame wars that will raise the temperature. It might be tempting to get the last word in, but please refrain. 3. You don't have to like the news, but you do have to discuss things coolly. For instance, I'll be honest and say this news doesn't thrill me to death. I understand the development reasons for doing it this way, but from a purely selfish point of view, I want to jump into my choice of planes, fly through the rubble of Stalingrad strafing and bombing everything, and I'd like to do it seven days a week. Starting tomorrow, ideally. Anticipating other posters here, I'm going to add that it would have been helpful for many to have been given information like this far earlier in the process. I would have jumped in anyway, but others may not have. Fair enough. Having said that, I have complete faith in the developers' integrity so am sure there was never any intention to mislead or deceive. They always said it would access to an early stage of the game, and that's just what we're getting. some of us, myself included, probably got carried away with their expectations. I did. However, the game isn't at that stage yet (remember how fast this whole thing has come together?), so I can either play it as it becomes available, or I can leave it until the scheduled release date in Q2 2014. Fine by me. I'll play it and have fun with it as much as I can until the full thing is out.
DD_bongodriver Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Yeah, right, and who are they? Damn it!!....RUN !!!!! AAARRRRRGHHH!!
SR-F_Winger Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Dammit no guns. But still YAY:) Shots look amazing! Can you please tell anything about Skintemplates? We skinners would REALLY love to start working! Winger 1
FuriousMeow Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I understand the no guns, but I'm curious if the DM will be complete enough for the LaGG that we could test collisions against the terrain/ground and air objects?

DD_bongodriver Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 (edited) Do the trees have the collision model? 2 months Lumberjacking could be fun. Edited November 1, 2013 by DD_bongodriver
BraveSirRobin Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Will there be a list of known bugs that we're not reporting problems that you already know about?
Finkeren Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 (edited) I understand the no guns, but I'm curious if the DM will be complete enough for the LaGG that we could test collisions against the terrain/ground and air objects? As I understood some of the things that were said by Jason during some of the livestreams, the physics part of the DM has been in place for some time. It was the visuals that were lacking at the time. I'll bet that the DM will be in place, save for a lot of glitches, which we'll help iron out. Edited November 1, 2013 by Finkeren
Kaenzdhi Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Do the trees have the collision model? Trees are always collidable, at least in my country
Foobar Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Your surface method is so beautiful! How I'm looking forward to a Bf 110 made in that style Very nicely done! 1
Finkeren Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Do the trees have the collision model? 2 months Lumberjacking could be fun. Unless the collision model of the trees has changed significantly from RoF, I don't see why they shouldn't.
Zak Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I understand the no guns, but I'm curious if the DM will be complete enough for the LaGG that we could test collisions against the terrain/ground and air objects? Some of the efffects are present (not in final quality but there's something) so yes, collisions will work. Do the trees have the collision model? 2 months Lumberjacking could be fun. Yes, they do. 1 month max BTW. Will there be a list of known bugs that we're not reporting problems that you already know about? We know about things that haven't been completed. Prior to every session I'll be posting a short list of things that I'd like you to pay your attention to.
migmadmarine Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Do the trees have the collision model? 2 months Lumberjacking could be fun. It has been said before that the trees can be collided with, as with RoF.
SYN_Vorlander Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 No ammo = lots of ramming. should be fun. thanx for the update 1
J2_Steve Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 It was a fair post by Loft and I now understand his development plan. I just wish I knew it before I laid out $90 for the early access. I knew the game would be limited and rough, but I didn't expect the time restrictions. If I had I wouldn't have a gold founders tag under my avatar it'd be at most silver, if there'd be one at all.. I understand the need to get data back from us and that it's most convenient during the week, however why can't the server be left up at other tiimes for people to drift in and see what's there. I'm totally ruled out of the midweek sessions and now they are extended to 2 months it's even worse for me. 2
Matt Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Will there be AI planes around or will it just be freeflight?
DD_bongodriver Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 It has been said before that the trees can be collided with, as with RoF. I know they are in ROF, there was no initial confirmation it had made it into the alpha though Yes, they do. 1 month max BTW. Super, thanks, 1 month is 'good news'
JG1_Pragr Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 (edited) "The Mission Editor will become available in the Spring" very bad news! Actually not much. It gives the developers chance to test the game under controlled situations. They should know where possible problems, issues, bugs, tweaks, etc. could be. When all those relatively easy identifiable things would been solved then there will the time be to give players chance to test all the other things. And of course find new bugs, as usual. SYN_Vander Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Sorry, but this is as early as it gets. On the other hand you'll have enough assets in Spring to make proper missions. ... I guess I have to create my own assets until then! Well allright, I'll do my best to break the game in the mean time! (aka testing)
Hessle Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 (edited) This is terrible news, why is everyone saying how this is a good thing? There is a difference between a Dev Build and a Public Build, so why not have the public build available 24/7 (So we can actually test, I for one can rarely play on Tues to Thurs) with downtime to update to the Latest Build? I do not accept that this will make the release "Better" than the aforementioned CLOD release, instead we just cannot play or shoot anything down for a matter of months after your supposed early release. If it is currently too early then don't release the code to the public. PS. We paid premium without a disclaimer for all this and yes I have seen the DISSENTING threads and most if not all of Jasons replies and for once in my life I agree with the dissenters. Just a minor edit to avoid adding any friction. FSM Edited November 1, 2013 by 71st_AH_Hessle 3
Roast Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 Your surface method is so beautiful! How I'm looking forward to a Bf 110 made in that style I second that, let's hope that the Bf110 will be in BoS soon after/around launch

I won't have tons of time mid-week either, but I'll take it anyway.I'm hoping by early December I'll be over my busy period at work and can afford to have a couple of late nights during the week.
Finkeren Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I can't wait to be a lab rat "777/1C Publishing is committed to the well being of all participants. Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all."

FlatSpinMan Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 we are restricted to Lagg only for start but oh well, good times come to those who wait Exactly! “To know your Enemy, you must become your Enemy.” They'll never see us coming! Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all." Well, that sounds a lot better than the Church of England Inquisition. Finkeren Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 bit sad that we are restricted to Lagg only for start but oh well, good times come to those who wait That's like saying "It's a bit sad that I'm restricted to only drive Lamborghini Avantador". There is no "LaGG only", there is only "The LaGG". 1
smink1701 Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 I continue to be impressed by the systematic way the team is bringing BOS to market. They have been very upfront, stayed on schedule, not over promised, not missed their deadline by four years, been consistent with the Friday updates, etc. I am also confident that when BOS is released next spring it will be everything if not more than the developers promised. I am happy for the chance to experience the game in its earlier stages in a few weeks and think it will go a long way in setting expectations for what will be coming in the months to follow. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

Collisions, damage and tree's ON, though not complete, were all part of the demo on the Hornet for the press launch.
