If I can suggest something, please make AI leader speed little bit less so player can keep up better. I have hard time to keep with leader - some 90% of current cruise speed will be enough margin. You can reduce the cruising speed of the aircrafts if you go to the file Battle of Stalingrad\PWCG 6alpha\BoSData\Input\Aircrafts. Look for the aircraft type, you want to reduce the speed for, change it inside the file and save it. But be aware, like Patrick told you, the AI sometimes does weird things, like flying to intercept with the correct cruising speed and then fly the intercept patrol with 300km/h, or stuff like this. But overall, it works pretty good with customizing cruising speeds.
GiftZahnsSteigern Posted June 18, 2019 Posted June 18, 2019 (edited) Good Day, All This is a quick method to inject the 262 (or any plane) into any mission created by Pat Wilson's PWMG, using the STEditor. First, find the stinkin' thing. https://imgur.com/FHRx1Nb Open the Mission Editor. It will look similar to this: https://imgur.com/9XtKUwW Much of what follows is standard Windows procedure. Select Open, and choose the PWMG mission you wish to inject the 262 into. https://imgur.com/NY7ODRH https://imgur.com/tsFO1yw I've chosen in this example a Dora Intercept mission. When opened, (it takes a little bit), You will see this: https://imgur.com/5P29OvG Click the +, to open the Mission data. https://imgur.com/19217im Double click your pilot's name, and dismiss (close) the Plane advanced Dialogue Box. https://imgur.com/72IzKhc Click the Model button to choose the 262a. https://imgur.com/7OigawZ Save as, perhaps the original mission with _262. https://imgur.com/vxpszOH https://imgur.com/7QhiqAQ Load up IL2, as usual and head for Missions. Select the last entry under the PWMG Mission you modified, and click Start, as usual: https://imgur.com/HwNF50U On the briefing screen, you will find the Me 262a Set Up button in the lower right corner as per usual. https://imgur.com/L8Mh4FC Right then, off you go......START. In the AAR, you will find the correct pilot name, however the plane will be the one from the mission made by the PWMG. Dora, in this case. I messaged Pat prior to posting. He gave me the go ahead, but is not to be blamed for whatever mess you and I make. If you wish to be extra cautious, backup your missions directory. The technique for launching the 262 from a short field is well documented in this forum. It helps that everything is frozen. Fire away. Edited June 18, 2019 by GiftZahnsSteigern 1
scram77 Posted July 24, 2019 Posted July 24, 2019 Hi just a quick question - now that we have the complete plane set for FC, is there a way to play campaigns with the ww1 birds? Thanks

Assuming no map I will put it in western Stalingrad just like I did with BoBP.

DD_Crash Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Is there a guide for the coop campaigns anywhere? If a squad member gets injured do they have to miss misions? If a squad member misses a mission are they replaced by an AI who flys for them and what happens if they are killed? Our squad is looking at this for a regular night but we need more info.

If a pilot gets injured they must miss missions to heal, or the whole campaign can take leave to skip ahead in time. In the most recent version of the software each player can have multiple pilots. So while one is recuperating you can fly another. That way no human squadron member is prevented from flying. You can play so that pilots can be killed, and a new one must be created, or you can play so that pilots can only be seriously injured. Your PWCG squadron will total around 12 pilots, human and AI. If a mission requires 4 pilots and only 3 humans are playing, any AI characters in your squadron can fill out the numbers. Hope this helps, I highly recommend you give it a try.

AirWolves=CutCut Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 I'm having trouble getting the generator to run and I wonder if someone might be able to help out. For starters I had to do a roll back on my system as a Windows 10 update bricked me. After rolling back I noticed that the executable for PWCG was gone. I went in and deleted the PWCG folder from the IL2 folder and then redownloaded PWCG and placed the new contents into the IL2 folder. However now when I try to run PWCG nothing happens. It's as if it tries to start, and then bombs out. Any thoughts?

It sounds like you may not have Java installed, especially if you had to roll back your system (I had to do the same because of a failed Win10 update that bricked me). If you definitely have Java installed, I'm not sure what would cause that.
AirWolves=CutCut Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Yep I thought that might be the case so I reinstalled Java, but still no joy. It just does not want to start up. I am wondering if there is some residual something in an IL2 folder from the previous install that is hosing it up. Thank you for the suggestion though, it's much appreciated!
PatrickAWlson Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 If you are starting from a desktop link make sure that the link is still valid. Verify that there is a pwcg.exe in the PWCGCampaign folder If not that, go to a cmd window and run pwcg.exe from the window. You might get some feedback that way. Look at the error log in the PWCGCampaign folder. That might provide a clue. If you are getting errors in the log then post it here. Once PWCG code is reached (i.e. the JVM is running PWCG) I do not believe that PWCG can exit without logging. A Java error would cause it not to be run at all. Running from the command line window might help expose any errors there
AirWolves=CutCut Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 So a quick update on this. I had Windows troubleshoot compatibility on this and it set it to run under Windows 8 and that fixed it.
WWSitttingDuck Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 Pat kudos on 6.1.3!! Have been using PWCG to create MP missions for the squad. 6.1.3 is saving me a ton of time. now the coop side.....whew....i'm lost... On a good nite, we might pull 14 pilots. We don't know who is going to show up, so all we need are slots... 4 Gold (bombers) 4 Red (jabo) 4 blue (escort) 4 white (escort) (optional) We prefer coop's than can be flown from both sides, so we might fly the mission as axis, then run it again flying as allied We have been using Vander's generator,,,and a mission 2-b flown would look something like this: In PWCG 6.1.3 Competitive Coop this is what my Administrator Coop User's looks like: this is what my Administrator Coop Pilots looks like: but do not have to tell you I am not getting what I want in the missions. Can anyone tell me how to set up the pilots in the Administrator Coop section to get the slots I want on both sides for a coop mission?
PatrickAWlson Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 Let me give it a try: User: an actual person that is part of your coop circle. Pilot: A persona within a campaign. Every persona (note to self - change from pilot to persona as pilot is a badly overloaded term) must be associated with a user. A user may have many personas in many campaigns. A persona may only exist in one campaign and may only be associated with one user. When you generate a coop mission you may include only one persona for a user (i,e. one person can't fly two planes in a mission ) - So a user can have many personas but can only fly one persona per mission Step 1. Add a user. Repeat for every player in the campaign. Only has to be done one time (not once per campaign) Step 2: Within a campaign add a pilot (persona). Associate that persona with a user. Step 3. Start a coop mission. On the first page of the briefing select every persona that will be included in the mission. Note on Administer Coop Pilots: That page is not incredibly useful at this time. I am working on an online portion that will allow registered users to request pilots. That admin page will allow you to accept those requests. Once complete this will change pilot creation from the current "host has to create the persona" to user defines the persona and requests host to include persona. That should offload a lot of work from the coop host.

photog95661 Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 (edited) First, permit me to laud your efforts with PWCG. I use it frequently to create novel missions that are every bit as good as those individually crafted by the Mission Editor. (Use of the ME is a skill I have yet to master.) On a related note, are you planning on expanding PWCG to include single-mission tank missions? If you do, I would permanently reside on "cloud nine." PS Apologies if you have already answered this question. I did not find this subject discussed in a cursory review of your your forum material. Edited August 18, 2019 by photog95661 If things change, please post a notice for all fellow tankers to see.

Definitely not in 2019. Future? It's possible. The PWCG framework for tanks would largely be the same, but the guts would be completely different. It would most likely be an entirely separate code base rather than an add on.
Hartsblade Posted August 18, 2019 Posted August 18, 2019 (edited) Great job Pat, thanks for all of your hard work. Two quick questions/observations... First, I'm not seeing the patrol routes on the map during the mission since updating. The waypoints show on the map as you to them, but the black route lines are not on the map in game. Is anyone else seeing this? Is it a new setting I missed? Edit: looks like I'm still using 6.1.2. I'll download 6.1.3 and give it a try... Second, on the AAR summary screen (after the debrief), the first "kill" assignment is always incorrect. Most times it reverses the info, showing the pilot to have shot down his own plane or another allied aircraft. Last night it credited a kill to the one AI pilot that filled out the flight, except he was shot down before the we encountered the aircraft he was credited. I'll try to update this post with a screen shot later if I can... Edited August 18, 2019 by Hartsblade
SR603-Flowbee Posted August 18, 2019 Posted August 18, 2019 Great job Pat, getting the in-flight map working in Coop mode!
JonRedcorn Posted August 18, 2019 Posted August 18, 2019 Is kill crediting to another user in co-op not working? Allo and I are flying co-op campaigns and he never gets credited for kills. Also is there any way to adjust the size of your flights? We frequently go up in a tiny flight of either just us 2 or one extra wingman. I see the adjustments for the amount of planes and flights that spawn but they seem to do nothing in effecting our flight strength. There is so much stuff to adjust and use in this software yet trying to figure out how to use it is quite the task. Is there anywhere I can find info about it? I don't want to have to bug you for every question. I am sure a ton of stuff has been posted and said in this section but actually finding the information is basically a full time job. Thanks for the hard work you've put into this awesome piece of kit.

To this point, it's easy to change the number of pilots assigned to each flight. On the "pilot selection" screen where you can change the loadout and planes for each pilot, you can click on the AI pilot's names on the bottom to add them to the flight, and click their names on the top to remove them from the flight.

I'll have another look. About the pilot/timing thing - yeah, that's possible. I allocate undefined victories to squadron mates, but I do not have any logic about if a squadron mate was shot down vs when another plane went down. Been 10 years and that is the first time this was reported .

Nocke Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 Dear Co-Coopers, I just did my first steps with 6.13. When I click "Accept Mission", I get the message "Mission logging is not enabled. Before flying the mission open <game install dir>\Data\startup.cfg and set mission_text_log=1" Which is already set like that, has always been, and PWCG did not give me this message before. Now I am not too worried, because in spite of that, I can fly the missions generated, and I can do an AAR. But of course a slight disquiet remains - maybe something else will not work? Or can I just ignore this? Thx for any hint! well .... it does not work always? Now I got an error doing the AAR, PWCGErrorLog.txt contains this: PWCG Error Tue Aug 20 19:56:30 CEST 2019 java.lang.NullPointerException at pwcg.gui.rofmap.debrief.AARClaimPanel.getPlayerDeclarations(AARClaimPanel.java:164) at pwcg.gui.rofmap.debrief.AARClaimPanels.getPlayerDeclarations(AARClaimPanels.java:80) at pwcg.gui.rofmap.debrief.AARPanelSet.actionPerformed(AARPanelSet.java:176) at javax.swing.AbstractButton.fireActionPerformed(Unknown Source) at javax.swing.AbstractButton$Handler.actionPerformed(Unknown Source) at javax.swing.DefaultButtonModel.fireActionPerformed(Unknown Source) at javax.swing.DefaultButtonModel.setPressed(Unknown Source) at javax.swing.plaf.basic.BasicButtonListener.mouseReleased(Unknown Source) at java.awt.Component.processMouseEvent(Unknown Source) ... .... ....
Nocke Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 found it ... there where some emacs-leftovers called #startup.cfg# or similar. After deleting them all was fine. It seems there shall be no file CONTAINING the word startup.cfg in its name in the data directory, besides startup.cfg itself...
Utopioneer Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 Good sleuthing! The software may be checking the first file with "startup.cfg" in the name that it comes across. 37 minutes ago, Nocke said: a slight disquiet remains - maybe something else will not work? Bengerman1985 Posted August 25, 2019 Posted August 25, 2019 Hello Pat, I downloaded PWCG 6.13 today for BOS and have been having an issue with ground attack/dive bombing missions that it generates. For some reason the target on the briefing map always appears to be my own airbase, regardless of nation/map/squadron/aircraft type etc. Any ideas?
PatrickAWlson Posted August 25, 2019 Posted August 25, 2019 @Bengerman1985 It should be showing the attack point. The missions work properly. I'll look into why it is not acknowledging the attack point as a waypoint.
