Possible fix for distant textures

Im on mobile so ill make it short.

Ever since they removed the Terrain.ini ive seen many threads or posts talking about how terrible the landscape look.

Well i thought to myself "hell the ground looks disgusting even at 4x distant details" and went yhrough my INI files to see if i could play with tem a bit to make it look better.

I found out that i had some files changed to "read-only" (specially the startup.cfg) and that prevented me from tweaking the (few) graphic settings the game has. So i unticked "read only" and proceeded to turn ssao and hbo (lol whatever its called) off an turn my gamma all the way down.

The results where awesome!! The game looks beautiful now with no blurr bubble and i feel like i can spot targets 10km away!! And i can level bomb now and actually see the target through the bombsight at 5k. I went all the way up to 7k and there where no blacked edges around water and absokutely no pop-ins during zooming in or out or while diving.

Good job devs!!

But please note that making the game look pretty with the snow is no excuse for the lack of a summer map ;)

Hey Emil, thanks for the post, but i think im done with tweaking files for now at least on the Graphic departement (Sounds are still a problem for me on MP)

the game looks very good to me (no blurr bubble) without tweaks and:

ultra settings 1080P on a 720p monitor,

Vsync ON,

FPS Limiter OFF

Distant Detail (or however its called) at 4X

SSAO OFF  (personal preference)

HB _( or something) OFF (personal preference)

Anti-aliasing at MAX

Although, i have heard of a tweak (or file) that greatly enhances contrast between the snow and the runways,

If you have a link to that i would happily take a look at it ;)

SweetFX reshade makes it look really nice

Dropping gamma to 0.5 - 0.6 makes a huge improvement (you did this already)

Add the terrain.ini file should make distant stuff a little nicer but I think that's more for us high altitude monkeys

I have the other stuff switched on in graphics but turn off cinematics (blur) which is good for movie making but will give you motion sickness :D I also turned off headshake but didnt notice any change.

Check your sound settings and make sure its all maxed out, turn the in game sound right up to max and use the mixer in windows to lower it to suit your preferences and flak etc should sound better.

If I can think of anything else I'll let you know
