Brano Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 The list goes like this: 1. UB 12,7x108mm with best rate of fire, muzzle velocity and energy, largest case with highest volume of propelant 2. M2 12,7x99mm lacking behind by only few notches ..... ..... ..... ..... 999. Bredada SAFAT 12,7x81mm with almost 40% less muzzle energy due to smallest case/propelant volume

Bredada SAFAT 12,7x81mm with almost 40% less muzzle energy due to smallest case/propelant volume Cool! Didn't know there were 999 Heavy machineguns in 12,7 calibre in WW2 Joking apart, the weapon was not as bad as many think it was; after all it's a 12,7mm machinegun, not a BB gun. Propellant charge, difference in muzzle velocity etc.., of course are important, but the differences are not astronomical. The real problem was not the gun itself (considered very well engineered), but the fact that usually there were just 2 of them. Read here what the Breda SAFAT could do to an enemy airplane (in this case a Hurricane over Malta). One explosive bullet almost tore one wing spar off (!), and created a huge 30cm hole in the wing. Just 1 HE bullet. Edited August 13, 2015 by Ioshic
CF-105 Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 One explosive bullet almost tore one wing spar off (!), and created a huge 30cm hole in the wing. Just 1 HE bullet. Well, I'm certainly incorrect in saying that .8 grams of PETN isn't all that great! I should've known better, the Japanese made HE 7mm bullets that could vaporize 3 inch holes in aluminum sheet metal.
Frequent_Flyer Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Do you know if DCS did it well at all? My experience has been they are all lacking, DCS - not to the significant degree of IL-2 1946.
Livai Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 !!!Need some help!!!Did anyone get random 1 Frame freeze with this Game Version 1.102? And after this freeze AI planes hit the ground from high altitude like this here (Watch the Spoiler)!Looks like all four AI planes have the same pilot?

Lol thats kind of hilarious, although i hope it was just a random error instead of a common bug.
Camille88 Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 The quality of the cockpit and exterior model looks noticably better than the other planes (apart from the struts, which are low res textures and that together with the strong weathering effect drags the overall visual quality down quite a bit). But like most other Italian planes, it just doesn't really thrill me. It might become the plane i spend the least time in overall. I noticed some weird tendency for the plane to stall when rolling hard right. Not sure why that is. But now i'm even more looking forward to the other planes, especially if they will be as well modelled as this one. +100

jamese747 Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 I originally downloaded version 1.101 of BOS into Windows 8.1 and immediately experienced mouse and video problems. The mouse moved erratically with very little control and the plane in the beginning screen rotated in a jerky fashion. I do not have this problem in any other program, including ROF. The next day, update 1.102 was downloaded into BOS, and the problems were eliminated. Everything worked as it was supposed to. I then ran the startup program again thinking I needed it to download BOM. Big mistake. After it finished, I was back in BOS and the mouse and video problems were back. After contacting customer support and trying many changes at their suggestion, nothing tried made any difference. Finally, at their suggestion I did a complete reinstall of BOS, now the integrated version 1.102. Same mouse and video problems. So far, no solution has been discovered or suggested. As things stand, the program is virtually useless. Maybe the next update will fix this conflict, as update 1.102 did. Perhaps the developers will take a look at this and come up with a fix. I hope so.

Are you running other programs in the background? Any browser, music player, software for peripherals? Try running the game without anybother program, abd see if that works. If it does, start activating the programs one by one until you isolate the issue.
viperrm64 Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Call me stupid but I cannot find a skin folder for the Mc-202 what is the correct text format to make a new skin folder for it. Thanks embarrassingly, Rob.

jamese747 Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Thanks for your suggestions. My basic system is Windows 8.1; i7-4720HQ@ 2.60GHz-turbo to 3.6GHz; 8 GB; video-NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M - 4GB. I performed the latest Install of Game version 1.102 in the administrator mode. Ran the game in this mode, same problems. No browsers, etc. Maybe some programs in background, but minimal, compared to when I originally ran "update" 1.102 and corrected the problems. I have received many suggestions along the lines of strip down to bare bones and build back up to find the trouble maker. Usually good advice, but this begs the question. The fact that the BOS update fixed the problem, along with all of the other experience since, suggests that some file(s) created by the BOS Install process created the problems and were subsequently overwritten by files from the update which restored compatibility with my mouse and video system. This tells me that the problem is not in my computer or what I am running, but rather in the BOS Install process. I am hoping that someone will address the above issue.

Go to your nvidia control panel -> 3D settings and change selected gpu from automatic selection to improved performance nvidia gpu (or something like that, mine is not in english). This might solve your problem. Or at least I hope so.
216th_Jordan Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 You did a clean installation of the latest Nvidia Drivers? What you write suggests the error to be in the system itself not in the game files, maybe in how they get accessed.
jamese747 Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) I made the Nvidia card the preferred card for BOS. No change. Same problems. To Jordan: I fail to understand why I would have an internal system error, fixed by the 1.102 update, but reestablished with the 1.102 game install. Unless, there is a problem in BOS that at least affects the combination of components in my system, and I assume, in others that might have a similar configuration. I appreciate all the input I am getting and remain confident that we'll get this resolved. I know that a lot of great work is going into this game and am eager to get up and running so I can play it too. Edited August 17, 2015 by jamese747
DD_Arthur Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 This is a complete shot in the dark but check out this thread; http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/17017-help-terrible-performance-brand-new-rig/ Especially post #19. Hooves had a turbo function enabled through his mobo which didn't seem to agree with this game at all. i notice you're overclocking your cpu using one of these Bios based Turbo functions too. Like I say, a shot in the dark......................
Habu Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Go to your nvidia control panel -> 3D settings and change selected gpu from automatic selection to improved performance nvidia gpu (or something like that, mine is not in english). This might solve your problem. Or at least I hope so. I agree with mrhead, i'm pretty sure that you're running on the intel graphic card instead of nvidia graphic card. That's a huge problem with notebook which have that option to save energy. But keep in mind that your graphic card is not the best card to play. When you are in the game and having the problem, do not close the game and go back on the desktop to check which graphic card is used.

Unless, there is a problem in BOS that at least affects the combination of components in my system, and I assume, in others that might have a similar configuration. Because, essentially, the files of BOS remain the same, so it is likely that the problem lies in the way you pc processes the files.
LLv44_Mprhead Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I made the Nvidia card the preferred card for BOS. No change. Same problems. How did you do this? Is this game specific or did you change your setting so that nvidia card is always used? I have also gaming laptop (MSI GT70) and only way I could get it run BoS was to force it use nvidia card all the time.
Voidhunger Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 !!!Need some help!!! Did anyone get random 1 Frame freeze with this Game Version 1.102? Yes i have this sometimes when the mission starts. I have this in version 1.101
jamese747 Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Thanks for the many suggestions. I am running the Nvidia card as the default video processor for BOS. I do not see how to select it as default for everything, and probably do not want to because of possible overheating issues in normal use. I can't speak to possible turbo mode difficulties, except to say that my system and settings work perfectly fine for ROF. I thought that was supposed to be the guideline for determining system compatibility with BOS. Also, my system and configuration worked perfectly fine in BOS after the 1.102 that update, and not, after running the install package. I would bet that if I could rerun the 1.102 update package over what I now have installed, troublesome game files and settings would be overwritten, and the video and mouse problems would be resolved, just as before. I am told by customer support that this is not possible. So I guess I am stuck until the next update. I hope that will have the same effect as the 1.102 update had. I don't know yet about in game performance issues, I have to get there first.
Habu Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Check the processor frequency when you have the problem. Maybe it's still underclock to save power.
jamese747 Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 HABU - Please explain how to do this. Would tubbo mode be activated anyway in the menu screens?
Habu Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 On notebook, since a few year, intel use a technology which underclock, or overclock the processor (speedstep if i remember). The changment of frequency is link to power saving. So many notebook has the problem you describe in game because on the menu, the need in ressource is less than in game, so, your processor is still underclock instead to be at its stock value. The other problem since 2 or 3 years is link to the display card we talked about earlier. For the CPU, download the freeware CPU Z : http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html 1- Run CPUZ 2- Run the game 3- When you are on the menu, go back to CPUZ and read the frequency value. To overide the problem, you can go in the energy setting and change some value.
LLv44_Mprhead Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 The only way I could get BoS run properly on my gaming laptop was to go to nvidia control panel. That is: right clicking on desktop -> that opens window where you can for example create new folder, from that window you can also go to nvidia control panel -> there you have 3D settings -> 3D settings control (or something like that) -> On general settings you can choose what GPU computer is using. It's on automatic selection by default, but you can choose "improved performance nvidia gpu" or something along those lines from there. I don't know if you have tried this already, but doing that fixed same problem that you are having for me. My laptop doesn't overheat, but it is louder now because fans are running more and at higher speed.
jamese747 Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 To 13/JG5 1mprhead - After your urging, I just made the Nvidia card the 3D global processor, as you suggested, and much to my happy surprise, it appears to have fixed the mouse and video problems I was experiencing, and I am now back to where I was after the 1.102 update. Something of a mystery remains, namely, why do you need to be in a global setting after an install and not after an update. I think some more work needs to be done on the BOS start up program. Anyway, thank you very much for your helpful advice. To HABU - I will give this a try. It looks like a good approach if I get into some in game difficulties.
L3Pl4K Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 The 109 sounds not good compared to earlier Vesion of the game. Quote =IRSS=3WU It is now very difficult to hear the approximate rev. of engine. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/17735-entwickler-tagebuch-teil-105/?do=findComment&comment=279906

SCG_Space_Ghost Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 Just a quick question: Is it possible, that blackouts and redouts are currentyl not working? This is correct. I would imagine that the team is aware (Jason asked users to perform a series of tests to quantify the report) but there has been no official statement on the matter.

Reflected Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Yes, and a few days ago Jason said the P-40 is not even in beta yet. The P-40 is basically the main reason I bought BoM, so I'm sitting on needles here. 1
