I hope we get the traditional roadmap to release in one of the upcoming DDs. I'm going crazy wondering what the next aircraft will be. I imagine the K4 would be the easiest. I wonder what the next allied plane will be? Hmm... Maybe a Stang?

Devs mentioned they were collecting P-47 and Tempest related documents in one of the previous dev blogs

P-47 or Tempest as the next aircraft would be great but it seems too good to be true.

In the announcement of BOBP, there was mentioned "Jet engine technology and associated physics of higher Mach numbers"

I am quite curious at an explanation of the technology required to model a jet engine, and how the team is progressing on it.

190A-8 most likely, followed by the P-51 (load of reference material) then maybe the K-4.

P-47s in short supply so possibly the P-38 and Tempest. Reckon P-47 and 262 last.

Next to be released will be the A-8 or K-4... it will be one aircraft only this time.

I agree the FW190 A8 would seem to be the next easiest plane to model and I suppose the K4 after that.

However, we haven't heard anything from the Devs about progress on these two.  What we did hear from Han - in dev diary 187 - on the 9th. of Feb was

"Speaking of the further development, we'll start to disclose various details about it pretty soon. For now, we can say that the work on 3D models of P-47, Spitfire Mk.IXe and Bf 109 G-14 has already started while we're collecting reference documents on Tempest Mk.V."

So we know the P47 is under construction now.   Pure speculation on my part now but another dual release of the 190A8 and P47 would be pretty cool, no?

That would be great, but I always thought there simply was less P-47 reference material around than the P-51 and possibly P-38. 190s and 109s date is everywhere - like Spits - but the Jug and the Tempest I would guess probably are late-comers. The 262 - given the engine development - would be my guess for last.

I wouldn't be surprised if the A8 and K4 were next. They released almost all the axis planes first with Kuban. A8 and K4 should be the easiest to finish next.

Hmmm......this would have come from the DCS forum perhaps?   I agree that the 262 would most probably be the last plane to be released - for obvious reasons.

Since I'm no expert;  how different is the K4 from the G14.  I was under the impression there were substantial differences?  More substantial than the difference between a 190 A5 and an A8?

Dunno. F2 to G6 is arguable more a difference from A5 to A8, but the developers probably know better.

Not sure from where they are sourcing the P-47 data.

I refuse to believe, that there is less data available to model the P-47D than there is to model any of the Soviet aircraft.

That was a strawman of DSC because they went tits up with their WW2 project. Can´t believe it either.

Technically not a strawman, but I agree, it reeked of desperate excuse.

Didn't I hear that all the records were destroyed when the company folded?   It seems inconceivable now but these things do happen in real life. A bean counter somewhere is asked what to do with all these left over records/items and just says 'Scrap them' without any thought about history.  To be fair,  blueprints & records from that era took up huge amounts of space and why would anyone bother preserving them when the need for them no longer exists?

As a side note to this, it´s also interesting that many documents about the military versions of various engines where still classified up until now.

Not because it was riscy to de-classify them, but simply because spending resources declassifying them would be costly.

I know this from some guys who bought old radial engines in the US for use in Tractor pulling.

There are obviously still a few around about the plane - not sure about D in particular:

Alot of the information for the P-47 was destroyed but I'm hopeful we'll see the Jug sooner rather than later, the Devs have stated that they are already working on the Jug so I hope that's a sign we'll see it soon.

I'm tired of German aircraft as cool as they may be, I'm ready to fly something new and different (preferably American).

I remember skimming over this on the RU forums

Absolutely nothing, except that 7 out of 10 aircraft from the set were used as fighter-bombers, and for the A-8, an assault sub-modification of the F-8 is planned.

I expect nothing less than the A8 and Tempest today or tomorrow.  If not I want a refund because the devs are clearly slacking off work duties.

@Field-Ops;  so we're getting the A8 and an F8 version?  Nice, didn't know that, thx for info.:salute:

Regarding info on the P47;  didn't the Soviets take delivery of around two-hundred P47D's under lend-lease?

I would imagine they did their own flight testing and a thorough engineering examination of these aircraft?  The development of the turbo-supercharger installation must have been of great interest on its own. Perhaps the Devs have access to info from a Russian archive?

This.

This article makes the case quite cogently:

http://www.fritzthefox.com/f35_vs_spitfire.html

IMHO Uk Gvmt money would be far better spent buying 27648 Spits rather than 48 f-35s. Pink ones, naturally.

Imagine; why not conduct your aerial warfare in style.

Have the USMC started taking delivery of their F35B's yet?

Yes and deployed. The USAF is also on IOC. The 3F software is still in development but the 'it's a crap 'plane stuff is about 5 years out of date. The F-16 and F-15 received similar flak during their early years while Russian (and now Chinese) efforts are usually regarded as Uber because they do not publish the myriad failings they experience.

It;s fine; it's too expensive and a bit of a compromise but much of the reporting on it is BS.

Anyway, back on topic.

Air Marshall? Presume it will be part of the development.

was thinking more for Career (though wasn't Cab Rank mainly Tiffys? can we have one of them please?). Could work something like arty spotting in RoF maybe? Also I would very much like the return of arty spotting (though we need a Lysander for that. I'd like one of them too). Also a Mossie.

Basically, I want to have some cake. And eat it. And then I want your cake too.

Still, if wishes were horses we'd all be eating steak.
