maybe not but you are using the wrong name/acronym for the game.

Its BoBP, I think it was, or BoOP, but not that and I personally think that is of poor taste to use that acronym, since Jason already said how to call it. And it wont change No matter what other forum members think or do about it.

poor taste? are we going full SJW on this forum now?

Given that at 23 I am in the lower 10% of the community in terms of Age and being male as roughly 99% of the rest of us here are, I think the overall maturity Level is such that we can handle a BoOB quite well.

But I feel it below my Dignity to make a flatulent Noise referring to my favourite Computer Game. I shall not suffer it.

Right now you don't need a P39 for that.

I'd like to see something released before Christmas with the DD, maybe a plane... maybe a P-39?

That would be lovely. :)

Might need to consult the experts on this...  CanadaOne, do trees bounce back upright after you push them over by anything up to 30 degrees?

DISCLAIMER: NO TREES WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS FILM

A birch not much smaller than the one in the video definitely does. When I was a kid me and my friends stupidly set out to see, if we could knock down a tree with pure muscle power. Several of us were slightly injured.

If living trees snapped just by bending 30 degrees, there wouldn’t be a single one standing after even a mild autumn storm.

I don't mean snap, but rather if you pushed it over so that the trunk and roots tore out from the ground, would it bounce back upright like in the video.

I don't think it would be fps friendly to go into that much detail with tree DMs.

Morning. :)

Depends on the tree. Poplars snap like icicles. Birch can bend right over and touch the ground without breaking if there is enough snow and ice on them. Maples can also bend quite a bit, but not as much as birch. Balsam, spruce, and pine all snap.

That is all if the weight is in or at the top of the tree.

Anything uprooted will stay uprooted unless pulled back. But a lot/most uprooted trees will stay alive at the angle that they went to after the impact or wind and live out their lives at that angle.

Went into my work pics to find some uprooted action.

Trees like this won't come back straight, but they can live a surprisingly long time like this.

I just watched the video now. That's pretty cool.

It's possible they will bounce back like that depending on the tree and the root structure and the soil. If the ground is rocky and the roots tend to flatten out, they will pancake. If the roots go deep and the tree is healthy and of a species that bends more than it snaps, it can bounce a bit.

It's amazing how much of a beating a tree can take and still live. On the other hand, a birch for example, which can bend like a gymnast and still live, is almost guaranteed to die if you mess with its root structure in the slightest.

so "last third of winter" in the DD caught my eye, so I had to look up just how long Winter is.

So I guess my expectations are now set between sometime in early Feb to the end of March.

Really? No P-39 goodness until March?

Now I'm sad again. :(

Hopefully, Han didn't speak of Siberian winters, which might last a little longer.

BTW, I am not sure, a tree will bend a lot, when a tank pushes it half a meter above ground.

Birch is very strong and flexible, especially the living sapwood. Historically it was used for spear shafts because it is lighter than ash but almost as resistant to breaking.

No doubt about this, you can surely bend it quite far, when you pull on the top of the tree, but as I mentioned, not half a meter above ground.

Sure enough, beyond a certain point you just uproot it and it topples, and that’s exactly what seemed to happen in the video. Personally I don’t think the angle it happened at looked wrong.

I need to fly fly fly in that rain!!!

Can you imagine flying a re-build of the original IL-2 demo mission...with the new rain effects...in the hotly anticipated P-39? Giving me goosebumps just thinking about it!!!

I had to check if the original "Black Death" track/mission was from Kuban Map but alas it was 'Net3 summer'

A 2018 rework of that would have brought back a bit of nostalgia for me  :)

This isn't from a job we did, but it's exactly like a bunch we cut after the Great Ice Storm of '98. And still today we see birch bent over from that storm, alive, with branches growing straight up. it's pretty cool.

The "exciting part" was cutting the first birch like this, expecting it to topple forward... but it doesn't. The top stays put because of all the weight and the butt explodes backwards like a rocket. You learn real fast never to stand behind these trees while cutting. I'm still amazed no one had their legs broken.
