@Han what's going on? it has been 9 months since the live stream and we have not heard anything about the project.

 

After following the project for almost a decade, where there have been pretty frequent updates along the way, this silence is killing the excitement. I have a historical scripted campaign for Normandy that is about 85% done and I'm struggling to find the motivation to carry on due to the uncertainty around the future of the project.

 

I understand you don't want to reveal too much prematurely but it would be great to show some small things to keep the community engaged.

 

Looking forward to some news.

I feel very sad for the lack of info for the future developing of the franchise. God i love this simulator but i see at the same time a vast part of the comunity members leaving the sim and going for the competence at all. Speaking personally, few folks from my squad leave the sim , and i'm fliying alone several months ago. ?

 

Devs, please share something with the comunity that will still here and everyday.

They will release info when they at ready to, nothing is going to change that. No matter how much the lack of news in the project somehow impacts the ability to play or use what we already have. 

 

Even when they do announce news, I'd expect its at least two years before a real release comes out. Maybe a year for something completely barebones.

I don't think there is uncertainty about the future of the project... I believe they shared what they could about both the existing and hopefully future franchise. 

As long as GB goes on I am happy. 

About the new project they are probably taking a risk, but as we all know... No Risk No Fun!

I dont really understand the total lack of any real announcement re the new game. I mean, in the time they have spent saying not much at all, Jason has announced a new game and even has posted the first DD. I know it might be irrelevant, but maybe as you say there is something more to it than it seems re nothing being announced. I dont think its as simple as 'we only want to release something when we have real progress'.

Ah, but it is. ? Too many features were announced too early before, so this is part of that change. 

 

Ultimately, though, as I said, the announcement is coming, and I don't think you all are going to have to have to wait that much longer.

I have to confess too that I had lost confidence in the future of this sim.

 I would have been excited about going on a campaign I was designing with BoBP and BoN maps, but the joy and the interest fade with what seems to be the end of this franchise

I had hopes to get an il2 1946 "style" flightsim, with many different scenarios, not just limited to the east and west front. And further development of the engine or even a switch to a new one.

I mean it would be a heck of a lot of work, but keeping the current content and building a new game engine to import it into....as long as it can handle large formations, that would be a win

Blacksix just posted that he has begun work on a new campaign for IL-2. Must not be anything happening too soon.

I've just accepted that the game is outdated and neglected, and that flight sims are gonna suck for awhile. I just see Great Battles as a practice sim for when things get better in a couple years when 1Cs new project, Combat Pilot and maybe new DCS stuff release, and that's lowered my disappointment. Luckily flight sims have a large learning curve, so gittin gud gives me something to do in the meantime.

Yep, sims dead. Just tried to run it but it gave me an error that since the devs haven't written some words to reassure a needy vocal few the sim can't start.
