I can't say that's particularly true.

I'm 21 and WW2 is by far my favorite military conflict and a time period I find quite interesting.

Not quite as interesting as Ancient-Bronze Age Civilizations (damn things seem to have built in rabbit holes meant to suck you in) but I still enjoy reading about it.

As for media attention, It still seems like we get a healthy amount of WW2 movies released even if they are not historically sound and WW2 games continue to be a staple of FPS and Strategy games.

I'm saying it's further from the forefront of the collective consciousness of common media. People who wrote stuff (anything at all, from TV scripts to comics to whatever) in the 1990s were still steeped in WWII knowledge from their parents and grandparents. The bigger the generational gap becomes, the more the direct connection diminishes.

That doesn't mean nobody young will be interested in it. I consider it similar to baseball's decline as America's pastime. Yes, young people still play and watch baseball. But is it as big a sport now as it was in, say, the 1970s? No.

I am too, in the sense that I don't really feel the urge to learn much more about it.

That said, WWI aviation feels too primitive, while Korea and beyond feels too modern. From a simming perspective, WWII offers that ideal point in time where technology was still crude, but also helpful enough to offer some conveniences without reaching the point where it did everything for you.

I know even throughout Vietnam, the basics of flying and shooting things hadn't changed all that much; but what it boils down to, is that I just don't like the way jets handle.

with how old some of you are going onto, I'd think slower planes would be more your speed. :P

I mean, to each their own. A break from the game is good if you're burnt out, I recently took a long hiatus to play a bunch of roguelike/lites.

If I’m going to fly at 80kts, I’d better be in a helicopter gunship slowing down to a hover.

I'm currently doing a Mass Effect Legendary edition run, on Insanity difficulty. 2/3 done.

I forgot how crappy ME2's combat was. Between the dumbed-down skill tree, the agonizing upgrade system, and the total reliance on cover to do anything... yeah. It had better writing than ME3 (in parts), but the combat feels awful to me now. Much more than it did when I originally played it.

That's something I often feel when trying other periods : even in a Combo like Arma III where WWII mods receive lots of gamers....

It was almost the same in miniatures or cardboard wargames circles, the most con being the gorgeous uniforms and variety in  Napoleonics or Medieval .

This is what I found on Wikipedia about that video game, "Maeater":

Maneater is an action role-playing game developed and published by Tripwire Interactive. In the game, the player assumes control of a female bull shark who must evolve and survive in an open world so she can take revenge on a fisherman who disfigured her as a pup and killed her mother. Following the fisherman's death, the shark travels to a mysterious experiment site and confronts a radioactive monster causing chaos around Port Clovis.

We know they don't want to divulge anything about the new project, but there is still some content for this game, that many of us paid for already.

i have three preordered planes, that were not released yet. I preordered two of them back  in May and one of them I preordered in December 2021.

Don't you think they should keep us updated with the content they already charged us for, but didn't deliver yet?

I would love to redo a ME trilogy run, but I'm too busy calibrating.

Sounds not too bad for a dame game. Is there nudity?

Dear Diary, today we all sat around drinking the last of the vodka and laughing as we read complaints from self-identified old men who should be flying on the Normandy map. If only we could tell them what the next project is, but then they couldn’t complain that there’s no news about it.

After lunch, Igor put the final details on the A6M cockpit, while Alexander flight tested the F4F.

Nah, not crazy, just a man of impeccable gaming taste.

I got into the series because a friend more or less forced me to try it. I never played/heard of ME1, and he got me started after ME2 released. I then went back and played ME1. Consequently, I think I favored ME2 simply because it was my introduction to the series. And it didn't have those horrible Mako driving interludes. I hated the ME3 ending and didn't play any of the games again until the Legendary Edition came up for free on PlayStation.

However, prior to ME3, I got really excited thinking of all the possible story branches that might result from decisions made in ME1 and 2. So I did a ridiculous number of playthroughs to have as many interesting plot combinations as I thought were possible. ME3's plot structure kind of blew most of those combinations to oblivion, so that was the other factor that soured me, beyond the ending itself. For instance, I thought the rachni choice in ME1 was going to have bigger ramifications than it did. I thought that, in general, major renegade choices were going to lead to an Earth-centric defense once the Reapers arrived, while paragon choices would lead to a coalition response. But the benefit of being Earth-centric was that it would take the least amount of damage, while everyone else (asari, turian, etc) would be varying degrees of screwed. Conversely, being a paragon would unite the galaxy and help everyone equally, but Earth would take more of a beating than under a selfish renegade path. Instead, most renegade decisions ended up being bad ideas, full stop, instead of being at least partially beneficial in the long run.

Anyway, I could prattle on and on about what plot threads I assumed/hoped would lead where, but the end result is that I was disappointed when most decisions came down to adding or subtracting from galactic readiness numbers.

That said, ~10 years away from the series gave me some new perspective. I now realize how much of colossal undertaking it'd be to implement even a fraction of the story reactivity I wanted. I now look at ME3 with more pragmatism and, seen in that light, it's not a bad game. Still plenty of flaws to nitpick, but I don't hate it nearly as much as I did back when it released. Overall, it's still an enjoyable series that, for the most part, has aged well.

Anyway. Didn't mean to go into that much detail.

I'm putting this question in a separate post than the novella I wrote above:

What's your favorite class?

I consider Infiltrator my default choice. It's the only class I was able to do Insanity difficulty with in ME2, and it also made ME3 much easier as well. I'm doing ME1 on Insanity with a Soldier. Normally I don't like soldier tank-type classes in any game, but I anticipated (correctly) that the heavy armor and damage resistances would be really helpful.

ME3 refined the best parts of ME1's combat and gear mechanics, eliminated most of the bad ideas that ME2 introduced, and made a pretty excellent system as a result. I therefore test classes in ME3 using the Armax arena, N7 opponents, on Insanity difficulty. So far I've won with an Infiltrator (using the N7 sniper rifle + damage mod + concentration mod + AP ammo ability), and the Engineer (N7 SMG is excellent with stability/accuracy mods).

I love the Vanguard in ME3, used it and the Adept extensively in multiplayer, but on Insanity it's kind of dangerous. Anybody locks you into melee, or a boss melee grabs you, and it's curtains.

I tried doing ME2 + Insanity with the Adept... ooh boy. I washed out during Garrus' recruitment on Omega. The part where the krogans attack him. There was no way for me to do enough damage, quickly enough to save Garrus.

Biotics are okay in ME1. I take Liara and Tali with me for singularity + various tech explosion combos. I also use hammerhead rounds on my sniper rifle (anything rapid fire) to knock down krogan/rachni before they reach me.

For me it probably is flying in a multi crew aircraft but you are alone. Simplicity in interfaces and so on. I need something more.
I am hoping this is what they fix
