ww2 always been old man’s game. Some youngsters misled to join.

I don’t think this game is dying but do believe it has ended development or repair of any significance. If I continue to enjoy it I will continue to fly it. Time will tell. What comes next will possibly not be a flight sim and will probably appeal to a larger, younger, less hardcore audience that wants stimulation, not simulation

Totally agree WWII titles are an “older” man’s game (perhaps women play, too?). Most of us have grown up with WWII as part of our history and it is familiar to us. Not so with the younger generations. Most probably are not interested in research and the desire for accuracy that many of us enjoy.

Just how old are we? I’ll start by saying I will be 70 in a few months. How ancient are you?

Nonsense! British students don’t need an arbitrary break to get rat-arsed and sleep with total strangers.?

Dear God. Just remembered I’m sixty next week….

Technically American students don't either, been there done that :joy: This is a whole week of that while not being responsible for not doing homework though.

The future is now, old man! You're just trying to cramp my style.

I agree, I accidentally turned 23 last May. As a result, my responsibilities have started increasing, and I just want to go back!

I don't think the mechanics of the sim (I think it can still be classified as a sim) will change as dramatically as the business model, and a change of focus from single to multiplayer. I only mention the multiplayer focus because I don't believe the developer team size would need to be expanded (to the degree it will be) for the same single player focus that we've had all these years.

Interest in WWII is definitely waning in pop culture. I'm 36, and I recall that back in my formative years (circa 1990), there were still quite a lot of easily accessible WWII references. From the Simpsons to PBS documentaries to movies (The Rocketeer was one of the first movies I saw in the theater) to computer games my brother played, WWII still felt pretty recent at that time.

Even though it still gets some media attention, it feels like a shadow of before. It'll always have the same kind of history buff devotees as, say, the American Civil War, but it's gone from mainstream to niche in the 30+ years of my existence.

Despite my actual age, I've always felt old. Out of touch with the times. I've never really cared what's popular (though I can still notice trends, even if I don't act on them). So I'm not exactly an average 30-something.

So no news or updates on the future of this series still? Safe to assume things aren't looking good at this point.

Mystic, you seem confused. 1C no longer own Cliffs. They bundled it up with a lot of other legacy stuff and flogged it to a Chinese company some months ago.

For TFS it’s a case of waiting for ET to phone home.

Ah, I was going with what Buzzsaw said in that it was 1C/Tencent who owned it?

No worries, either way, the wait for 1C to announce anything about the future for BoX (or a new project) is barely anything in comparison to the wait for TFS to announce their next module ?

So who's in charge? Is 1C worth more than 10c? Not sure what the exchange rate is. ?

I can't say that's particularly true.

I'm 21 and WW2 is by far my favorite military conflict and a time period I find quite interesting.

Not quite as interesting as Ancient-Bronze Age Civilizations (damn things seem to have built in rabbit holes meant to suck you in) but I still enjoy reading about it.

As for media attention, It still seems like we get a healthy amount of WW2 movies released even if they are not historically sound and WW2 games continue to be a staple of FPS and Strategy games.

Then let's talk about strawberries. But, first, let's read a little on the topic: Strawberry - Wikipedia

That’s not what Buzzsaw says.

1C had a contract with TFS to produce content for 1C’s property Cliffs of Dover. That contract is part of the property.

That property has now been sold to Tencent. The contract with TFS continues as it’s part of the property Tencent bought.

Do you follow?

Glad to see my Spring Break comment woke some of you up! And despite being a dyed-in-the wool 67-year-old jolly English chap I did know what it was - I saw it on the Simpsons. Homer went out and saw 17 nipples. ?

37 here

There are youngsters still playing and interested in ww2, its just we/they're not active on forum as you pensioneers with a lot of free time are.

Maybe we would have more time if you don't make traffic jams and long lines at customer service centers ??

Joke aside ww2 is still the last and biggest world conflict, ww2 is still the most frequent subject of history channels.

When i was a kid there were no cable tv and internet widely spread among population (at least in my country).....now history data is more available than ever and they are killing us with ww2 on history channels (Viasat history should change its name to Viasat Hitlerstory).

Flight sims went for fidelity but shrunk in content, gameplay and variety....that could be a reason!

New customers come and some old customers move on, cos they got bored.

Just compare il2 1946 to il2GB, gameplay wise we've got 5 copy paste expansions and thats the reason i stopped playing....it become repetitive and boring.

If they did every second expansion in a new theatre of war it would be a lot more attractive (add to it bombers and naval ops).
