No need to be so hard jes I only ask a simple question.

If you feel like a topic need to be closed you could always ask a mod or someone.

I try to stop it from being closed.
if you bother to read what this topic is about. You will find out why.
There is several other treads covering the total lack of communication

6 weeks ...

Please make a decision:

a) You hold your breath until the devs produce their DD on one future Friday.

Or...

b) You hire these guys and you send them to 1CGS' offices in Moscow:

Guys we have had 325 pages of DD update speculation. Lets not ruin this. Don't get this thread locked by going off topic. If you want to talk about the poor state of communication please make a new thread.

It's not nearly in threat of getting locked but a couple of ya are walking a thin line on some beach time. Drop the personal stuff and stay on topic please.

Or better yet, stop posting and go play one of the excellent scripted campaigns, or tinker in the mission editor, if I can figure it out, so can you. Or go read a good book, or go out and enjoy the world around you.

Here's what I know, this title's enjoyment to cost ratio is off the charts.  All my other hobbies pale in comparison to the fun I have had playing IL2 over the decades.

To the developers I say, spasibo.

And carry on.

ok, now I see what you’re talking about.  Things have definitely changed.  Based on the evidence from the last month we will never be getting another update.  Ever.

The long silence is the team’s new version of Jason's really annoying puzzles leading up to a major announcement, or a not so major one as the case might be.

Seriously though, the current political climate is depressing everyone, who can make or announce any plans right now?

Best just to enjoy what you have, hopefully next week might see news on the IAR-80, at least we can live in hope.:drinks:

Take care and be safe.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete.

A very wise and astute business man ( owner of the company I spent my entire working career with) would always say "If you aren't growing, you are dying".

I took this screenshot at about 9AM PST today. We don't know much about the new development of the game, so I can't comment in that manner. Although, as far as the MP scene goes... no, not really. Numbers are far better, spread among more servers than the first few years of the game.

So, we're fine. No need to sound the imaginary alarm.

I hope they announce something soon, but guys it's only been 6 weeks, calm down ?

Team Fusion Simulations were set to announce there next module in May 2022 but have to wait until 1C give them the go ahead.

So if 1C are now discussing their own module and release announcement, this is no doubt delaying any news on the Cliffs of Dover expansion.

6 weeks is a walk in the park compared to nearly 8-months ?

I don't think it's dying... what they are doing in my opinion, is because there is only limited new stuff left to produce for the existing game, they are stringing that out as long as possible, probably because their new stuff is not quite going to plan for whatever reason... (just my opinion once again.)

If the game was to go down the plughole, as people have said, we have a ton of stuff to mess around with anyway, but we have to wait and see what transpires.

To be honest, I have lost the desire to care much one way or another... if it all turns out to be as good a Loft and Han have indicated in the stream, well that would be great... if not, then there isn't much we can do about that... I have plenty of flight sims I currently enjoy  :thank_you:

thats not even half of population of 2 years ago, also i remenber 500-600+ ppl regulary on sundays and saturdays you could not get in top 3 popular servers...

https://stormbirds.blog/2020/03/09/il-2-had-one-of-its-most-popular-multiplayer-days-this-past-sunday/

Numbers in MP took big dip with great decision to brake DM model and never recovered as it took them years to say its broken and try to fix it...

On russian forum last DD Han posted that well have to wait long time for reliable news about next project, comparing relise timeline to something like MSFS 2020, that it anounced year before relise and what they plan takes more then year... so by the time they anounce 100 ppl online would be good day lol

I have enjoyed this hobby for many (many) years but something seems to have fundamentally changed (and not for the better) over the last couple of years or so in GB's. Who knows maybe it me, but something about the series just doesn't feel right anymore? I know many of the folk I flew with online are not flying much, if at all these days.

I can't seem to find any enthusiasm for what is to come next in the series, but if I'm honest it will have to be something pretty special to reignite any real zeal. I certainly don't think we need anymore versions of the Spit or the 109 at this point and there are a lot of things that need fixing that haven't been fixed. Whatever is produced lets keep our fingers crossed for it.

Edit: Having said that, I will most definitely be looking at what a certain American gentleman's (we are all familiar with) next project will be with some eagerness

peak MP days in this game are long gone, and now when focus will be new game they will never go back, ppl will just go to other games and wait to se what this next new project end to be, if its any good they gona switch to that if its not they aint gona come back to GB MP when it will have no support as new game is main thing.

500-600ppl online at same time was good numbers, ppl remenber 900-1000 in il-2 46 as good times of MP, but back then you didnt have WT taking all "arcade" or icon-on and outside view-on type players, now ppl who played in less then "ful realistic" settings on HL in IL-2 46 play in WT, only so caled "full real" is popular here.

If you go back to the original IL2 in 2001, that was released just over 60 years after the end of WW2. Those around in 2001 remember talking with their parents about "what did Grandad do during the war". Grandparents could also talk about the War.

Now we are 80-years on from WW2, we are looking at Great Grandchildren and seeing if we can interest them in a WW2 combat 'sim'. What is clear to see is arcade combat wins hands down (Warthunder) as the player base is huge.

What can be deduced from this? Likely that having been brought up on android/IOS phones, quick arcade 'hits' are what young players want (mostly, as there are obviously some young players here), so finding the new players with investible income in simulation rigs, VR, Joysticks, throttles, pedals is a tough sell, when Warthunder uses a joypad.

It's a sweeping statement, but it does appear younger generations are not as interested in the simulation side of it and also WW2 has for some countries been swept off the History curriculum.

I just think players move on to pastures new, and the old guard are here until the bitter end.

Cheers, Mysticpuma

Problem is simulation side of it is now at point where it halts "story" side of game. Added complexity still have visable holes in FM/DM and so on like older games, but lack full expiriance of WW2 air batte. Also playing WT with gamepad your at disadvantage vs mouse+key, here playing with gamepad your not at disadvantage. For this game you do not need any big expencive gear... but image made about fly sims is that you have to have it, so more relaxed players dont even know they can just play it good on things they already have, MSFS 2020 is consol sim with no problems, any WW2 game now can do same if its doable with smaller team to suport PC and console at same time.

You're right. The quick dopamine hit is more desired than the realistic sim these days by many. And as you say, WWII is a distant memory and very unfortunately, easily forgettable in this day and age.

For all we know. Sunday might be the new DD day.
ww2 always been old man’s game. Some youngsters misled to join.
What one must think of is, all of the sudden there are offered a lot of yokes, sticks, throttles and rudder pedals. The more sold of these the more chances for recruitments.
My impression is the devs ambition has grown. And this new thing they talk about will take years. So a month or two without hearing anything is not really unexpected

Are you mad?... have you forgotten your medication or something?

This just will not do... we can't have it on a Sunday. We will all be in Church, and then choir practice followed by the weekly trip to the abattoir... No, Sunday is out! ;)

Yeah, that is a lot more people. But I don't think those are bad numbers for 9am in the morning. The question the person asked is "is the game dead?" And no, it definitely isn't.

I do remember that massive influx of players, which DM changes could've had an impact. But, we were also going through a certain virus that locked a lot of things down, and colleges were on spring break at the time. I think there's a bunch of factors that go into why that was a peak.

Mystic, you seem confused. 1C no longer own Cliffs. They bundled it up with a lot of other legacy stuff and flogged it to a Chinese company some months ago.

For TFS it’s a case of waiting for ET to phone home.
