I don't think there'll be a DD this week or the next, given the fact that Jason said that BON is close to release.

Unless they find some last minute bugs and have to postpone BON for a few months.

I've actually got doubts about this. We could receive the release and an update the same week. I get the impression that we get news often when a team member has time to pull together something to show... it doesn't seem like Jason focusses on keeping the powder dry (although he does occasionally mention surprises - and has teased us before - it doesn't seem like that is the case with content already announced).

I don't know about that. I suspect that we'll get a patch with the map, and possibly the campaign as well, in the next two weeks. We might get a sale a short time after though? Maybe a new pre-order as well? Jason did hint at something.

Man... Getting a little bit jealous seeing that the update is imminent. Hanging on Rhodes for 2 weeks is not the worst thing but man, I'm so super excited to get my hands on this!

Have very fond memories of Rhodes old town. If you have to be stuck anywhere, there's a lot worse places.

Agreed but I also recommend hiring a car and going to mountains to see the ruin of Mussolini's villa and having a tea in the hotel just below it during the day.

I’m thinking maybe 2 versions of the Normandy map would be ‘slightly’ more than 1.1gb ??

Actually, 1.1GB is plausible. Steam sends files compressed, so 1.1GB might be something like 2GB uncompressed. We already have all playable aircraft and all AI aircraft except the V1, so all that's left is basically:

- The V1. Likely some 20-ish MB, as it doesn't include a cockpit for obvious reasons.

- Possibly a couple of additional vehicles/ships as well. Add another 200MB or so for the lot.

- The map:

   - Textures. If they're similar to the other maps, this is 49*4096kB =~200MB.

   - The Surface file. There's a ridiculous amount of airfields and ground details, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's at least twice the size of the Bodenplatte Surface file, i.e. another 20-ish MB.

   - Heightmap, forest map, water map. I can't recall the exact file size for the Bodenplatte map, but it isn't too big. Likely another 100MB or so, tops.

- Career files. Lots of text, so highly compressible. 20MB perhaps.

- Additional graphics (squadron badges etc.), maybe 200MB.

- Damage Model update and other bugfixes/tweaks. Depending on what is changed, this may range anywhere from a couple of MBs to multiple GBs.

 

All of this together is less than 2GB. I may have forgotten a couple of things and there is much uncertainty, but 1.1GB is perfectly plausible for the Normandy update
