II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Confirmed..........................................but only by me.
Jade_Monkey Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Jason has been responding to things today, i was hoping this would trigger a massive post with an update. A man can dream right?
[CPT]milopugdog Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 It's only Thursday my dudes. It's not too late.
216th_Jordan Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I guess we will have to wait 3 or 4 weeks. Given that there is a lot coming up i'm fine with such a timespan. Should there be something before that I would of course be more than happy.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Jason's post sounded more like 1-2 weeks. So, somewhere between one and four I suppose. American college football starts in two weeks so I have a distraction if it comes later rather than sooner
Jade_Monkey Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I was under the impression that it would happen in August
Feathered_IV Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I automatically added a couple of weeks to it and thought we'd find out around the second or third week of September.
Jason_Williams Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 We will announce some smaller developments tomorrow. Jason 10
6./ZG26_McKvack Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 We will announce some smaller developments tomorrow. Jason Awesome! Thanks for the update Jason
SAG Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Jason has been so talkative today, im so excited for tomorrow
LLv24_Zami Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 So, it`s a DD day. Considering last few days news it`s exciting to see even those smaller developments.
Brano Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 On Russian forum Danil wrote smtg about developing more detailed tank part of the game. That's what I'm looking for the most. Broneboynym zalezaaaai! :D 2
Trooper117 Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 lol, funnily enough, I bought a 'flight sim' to fly aircraft... 2

Brano Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 lol, funnily enough, I bought a 'flight sim' to fly aircraft... It was explained by Danil that tank/ground warfare was always part of their long term plans and I see nothing wrong with it. Heading towards combined arms simulator is a good way how to attract new players to this franchise. There are many tankers around left with no option in terms of modern tank simulator. 1
Trooper117 Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Haha!, my old brain cells can only take so much at one go... 1
Brano Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Haha!, my old brain cells can only take so much at one go... Dont worry.Every party will have its goodies delivered.Win-win

Brano Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 lol just the best way to distract the devs and kill the game Aha,so devs implemented tanks to their long term plans because they felt the need to be distracted and their product killed. lol...lol?
Jade_Monkey Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 lol just the best way to distract the devs and kill the game Im pretty sure they are not "distracted". They have a plan and they are executing it. 1
ShamrockOneFive Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 If you have a good project manager and a solid plan and you stick to that plan - new content and new types of content are not distractions. When you do this kind of thing it all gets costed out, there are detailed and sometimes complex timelines drawn up, and you connect that with sales and advertising. What we don't know about are things like internal staff changes. Perhaps they hire another 3D modeler, a programmer, and someone else and they are exclusive to a tank project that is sold as a product that plugs into the IL-2 world. It'd be really interesting. It's something I've mused about before after they showed off that tanks were perfectly possible in their game engine.
BlitzPig_EL Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 The idea of combined arms is indeed a compelling one. However, with the limitations of the game engine at present, it would seem to pose some pretty daunting challenges. Perhaps if it was first tried in a less detailed area where armor could move more freely without interaction with high concentrations of villages, towns and umm... trees. You know, the Western Desert... 3

GrendelsDad Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Although a lot of tank fun can be the cat and mouse game...the idea of everyone out in the open charging at each other with little or no cover sounds awesome.
Venturi Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Although a lot of tank fun can be the cat and mouse game...the idea of everyone out in the open charging at each other with little or no cover sounds awesome. There's definitely cover... cover by elevation changes. 2
KoN_ Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Your be surprised how far you can actually see in the desert and make out vehicles and identify them as enemy . Its not that easy . Heat reduces visibility .
MadisonV44 Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 (edited) If focus is still given to overall gameplay and acceptable performances tanks are OK for me. In fact, we had a lot of improvements since the 64 bits release in terms of performance and maybe there is now much more room to improvement than before. If the devs are comfortable with it and assure it won't spoil the overall performance and gameplay why not ... I just hope that we will not sink into "useless details" that would be too much performance consuming. In IT sky is not the limit. We don't have infinite ressources ... this kind of choices can be decisive. All is question of compromise and balance. Just imagine the gameplay improvement in terms of tactics and strategy if we could have an extended visibility bubble... I would trade 1 million details for that kind of enhancement ! Personally I think that too much details can kill the gameplay. Edited August 21, 2016 by MadisonV44
KoN_ Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 I am all for open world multiplayer world war 2 . In fact it would be awesome the 64bit and DX11 is the right step forward . This engine can not handle it .

=362nd_FS=Hiromachi Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Hmm, so what chances are that this will be THE week bringing the news everyone is waiting for ? Latest Dev diary obviously did not contain much of the future, reserved for that one special announcement. But end of the month is approaching rapidly and so does the excitement.
Feathered_IV Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Hmm, so what chances are that this will be THE week bringing the news everyone is waiting for ? Latest Dev diary obviously did not contain much of the future, reserved for that one special announcement. But end of the month is approaching rapidly and so does the excitement. No rush. We're in a sort of honeymoon period at the moment, where just about everyone is looking forward to the announcement with a notion that their own pet project will be the one that wins through. We should probably enjoy this brief interlude to the fullest before the big reveal, and the sh*tstorm of complaining engulfs us. 3
Trooper117 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 I was of the opinion that I really can't be bothered with another Eastern Front scenario and wouldn't buy it straight off, but would just wait for the inevitable sales in the future before purchase... However, with the news that Jason was now holding the reins, plus his comments on the future, with a vision of hoping to cover all of WWII theatres, has made me sit up and listen. Now I know this game will not stay solely in the east, but will branch out elsewhere, I'm happy to buy the next theatre produced, regardless of where it is. His comments of late have re-energised many more I am hoping, so that fresh interest and more importantly, revenue, will start heading in the games direction.
