Next week?

Let them rest

Why? We're impatient, greedy and should encourage negative reinforcement to push them to their limits! They're not people.... just slaves...      Take a rest Devs.

New patch and patch notes for those who missed it.

Posted (edited)

Where are the patchnotes for the recent 0.5GB update? Can't find anyhting new in hte Game Update Section.

EDIT: nvm, found them in the current 'Game Version Diskussion' marked as best answere.

1.201d

1. Main causes of game crashes were found and fixed;
2. We investigated the issue with Saitek Cyborg Evo Force. It turned out that its 64-bit drivers are crashing, even in its own test utility. Driver version 6.0.4.1 is problematic and will crash, driver version 6.2.2.4 works ok. Problem is, older 6.0.4.1 driver is offered for some Saitek joysticks while you can download driver 6.2.2.4 for others. If you manage to install the driver 6.2.2.4 for your joystick, it should work fine. However even the newer driver is dated 2008 and probably won't work on Windows 10;
3. Landing gear dumping limits increased for Bf 109 F-2, Bf 109 F-4, Bf 109 G-2, LaGG-3, La-5, Yak-1, and both Pe-2 bombers;
4. Tail wheel behavior corrected for LaGG-3 and La-5, resulting in easier taxiing and taking off;
5. Bf 109 E-7 landing gear won't 'shrink' when you press brake pedals anymore;
6. Campaign text briefings now include additional weather information and player wing composition;
7. AI Ju-88 added to Battle of Stalingrad campaign.

I wonder if there is anything left they could show us, since we just received the Moscow map with the campaign and the Ju 88.

The next big thing should be the announcement of the next scenario. Until then I would expect only minor updates.

In the DD 120 it sounded like they would anounce were it will go next before the full release of BOM, so there is some hope :)

They're gonna announce that their next project will be a space sim/shooter built on the Flash Gordon-universe

Are you sure Fink? I thought it was going to be: " The Thunderbirds" :) (joking)

Direct X 12 / OpenGL would be nice, or, ... A Pacific Theatre :biggrin:. (wishful thinking there).

Further Optimization maybe?

Within something like 2 weeks of them announcing working on 64bit, they released it into the game. And I know that they had been working on it for a longer (no details on how long),  but it's nice to see things not being announced too early and having to deal with the hype.

I can see DX11 down the road, but still too early for DX12.

I would strongly prefer a third eastern front installment.

But the pacific would be my theatre of choice if we are leaving the eastern front!:)

Maybe they should make clear, for the case they announce another eastern front installment, that this would be the completion of a chapter and that they are aiming to somewhere else with the fourth release to keep those interested who are not the biggest fans of the eastern front.

It's gonna be 1943 either Kuban or Kursk. I' m 90% sure, but I also don't think they'll announce today.

Agreed, they said they would not announce anything until the launch of BOM, which is still in beta.

Would enjoy seeing Kursk, perhaps even see if they got anywhere with the Murmansk. Would also like to see the addition of more lend lease or Romanian planes.

Hopefully they will build up the ME262. Unfortunately it doesnt fit in the time span of Battle of Kursk  or Battle of Kuban. :unsure:

Maybe they will sell it as a DLC Plane...

Either Barbarossa or Kuban. Anything else would create a gap in timeline.

The 262 makes no sense for the Eastern Front, except very late in the war. It would be more fitting for a daylight bombing campaign sim, something that's out of the question for this sim currently. With the DN engine we can neither have sufficiently large maps nor large formations of heavy bombers.

Me262 in this engine..its my dream since RoF! BUT I guess 43 sounds more realistic.

Also I´d like them to improve the engien first, so that we can see further( Have an actual horizon for example etc.)

Thats true but a night time bombing campaign would be possible because

1) the map could have far less details because in the dark you couldn´t see to much of them anyway this alows for much larger maps that are only played at night with some targets and startbases that have more details.

2) At night mission were not flown in large formations. Bombers attacked in large nummbers but eighter in a formation were only a few were over the target at the same time and all the others would be still fly to the target or allready be on there way home. The other tactic is that they attack at the same time but several target would be attacked. Both limits the nummber of planes that the game as to handle at one time to a nummber that should be ok for the game.

3) esternfront maps could be reused because most of the russian long range bombers were used to bomb targets in the rear of the german troops at the beginning of the war and german units didn´t have any radar at that time in the east which would avoid to build these systems into the game at the beginning. Most nightfighting was done by bomber units whit Ju 88 C4 and at the beginning even with HE 111 against slow Po2s.

The gratest challange for bomber pilots and the game would be how to eliminate the problem with starting and landing because even with these larger maps they would never be large enough to show the airbase of the bombers. My idea would be to make some small maps were only one or two airbases are on it which can be made with alot of details. When you go into the game menue where you now decide on which side you want to fly there would be a large map and one small map to choose if you click on the large map than you can choose eighter to fly as a german nightfighter from one of the airbases on the map or airstart in a bomber from one side of the map ( there sould eighter be some diffrent startpoints for bombers or a save area on one side at the map were nightfighters cant fly into like we have it now on moskau map so spancamping would not be possible). If you want to start and land with your bomber too than you would choose the small map first which would be loaded than so you can start on the small map with your bomber get to the altitude you want and than fly into a marked area of the map were you would be asked to leave the map and the game would load the large map were you would now start in the air with the altitude you have had on the small map all damge done to your plane would be transfered from one map to the other on the large map you would than get to bomb your target and try to avoid nightfighters or hunt nightfighters with a nightfighter. ( which was done more often than some people would belive. )

After you bombed your target you fly back into a marked zone of the map and transfered back to your small map to land your  proberbly damged plane.

Han just aswered in the Question threat that they don't have made up there mind for 2016/17 yet.

I'd love a Me 262 too hopefully it will be there one day

I'm crossing my fingers for Kuban :)

Moscow quality black sea map....  :)  :)  :)

Then I'll be fine with whatever the devs wanna explore. Mediterranean theater would be my favorite I guess. But again, I'll be happy with whatever they choose. Just think the eastern front needs a tiny bit more to be "done"

That's true finkeren, but one day they will increase their map availability. I think primarily on the old IL2 1946 day's with Mission dependencies to avoid

incorrect plane sets

So: What are we expecting today?

Since pretty much all the BoM stuff is out and since the devs propably aren't ready to announce the next installment of this wonderful sim (last week Han said, that they haven't yet decided) we're pretty much free to guess what will come (hopefully) in todays DD.

Personally I've got the feeling, that we might get a little extra surprise that hasn't been hinted at yet.

Maybe they'll announce that they plan to make an AI Po-2 for BoM, same as they did with the Ju 52 for BoS?

Maybe they'll announce more drivable tanks?

Maybe they'll announce their intent to make fully manual startup procedures?

Your guess is as good as mine.

I wouldnt expect anything uber exciting.

More like progress towards the official release of BOM, the remaining bugs or improvements made based on beta feedback.

They cant be announcing huge news every week. It' not sustainable.

how about we finish the list of fixes from DD 120 and then we can think about VR.

Yeah lets make 64 bit playable for more than 20 minutes at a time first!

You're the first I heard about having trouble of that kind. I haven't had a single CTD since the update and way less stuttering, and my system is approaching 5 years old.

Same here. Not a single crash since the migration to 64 bit. Before it was quit regular.

Its been pretty smooth for me with barely any crashes.

The contrast with the pre-64bit is huge, since i was crashing and stuttering all the time before the upgrade.

It's come a long way.

Maybe check your drivers and consider a fresh windows install if it's been years since the last one.

Im also part of the ones who still getting crashes and CTD's. Its nowhere near pre-64bits where I would get a lot of crashes/CTDs per hour, but I admit its a lesser issue now, but they still happen.

If people are still having crash reports make sure you are posting them in the thread in the bugs section otherwise they might not get fixed

Touching wood here... I haven't had a crash in quite a long time.

Do you guys use sweetFX, reshade or anything of the sorts ?

Posted

If you suffer from "lots of crashes" you should check your own system too. Check your drivers etc. I know people love to point their fingers at other but you should also do your part of keeping your system running smoothly

:lol:

On the crashes, I only get this bizarre crash when trying to load the mission every now and then. Only had one sort-of-crash in game, and it was likely due to dweebery on my end Alt-Tabbing like mad and messing with other programs while the engine started up.

Same here. Never had a crash before or since the 64 bit migration. System is over 6 y.o. and it runs beautifully on a 40" monitor maxed out.
