coconut Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 (edited) I'm the mouse... https://youtu.be/ZEPlT2k8S0M (it starts with the mouse attacking an He-111, for the dogfight, go to 5:22) If anyone is interested in commenting on my mistakes, feel free Edited June 18, 2015 by coconut 2
Urra Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 (edited) Nice. I would not last 5 minutes, let alone 20. Coconut, I have a very very basic question regarding mission editor is it alright if I PM you with this? Edited June 19, 2015 by roaming_gnome
Adler_ Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Well.. I mean you can't really run away from BF109 especially not when he had more energy... But I can't really say what you did wrong, the bf109 had an advantage from the start.
coconut Posted June 19, 2015 Author Posted June 19, 2015 @ Sure, feel free to PM me. But you could also ask in the forum. That way if someone else has the same question, they get the answer too. @ Yes, trying to flee was probably not a good idea, but it has worked well for me before. I tried to use the clouds and the sun, and I think they saved me a couple of times, but that was only delaying it. I think I actually had the advantage initially, since I was higher, but I failed to come out on top after the merge. Why, I'm not sure, but I suspect I pulled too hard on the stick. Should have been more patient. Maybe I should also have gone head-on for the merge. 50% chance isn't so bad, in my case.
=LD=Penshoon Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Great fight and video Coco, bet you were sweating by the end of it What software do you use for recording and editing? I really like that PiP you've got going, how did you get that camera view to track your plane? Is there a key binding for it or did you do it manually?
coconut Posted June 19, 2015 Author Posted June 19, 2015 @@=LD=Penshoon For recording, I use NVidia shadowplay (1080p, 60FPS, 20Mb/s). For editing, I use Vegas Movie Studio HD 11 (not the latest, but still good enough for 1080p). The image-in-image thingy is a so-called cookie-cutter effect in Vegas Movie Studio. To track a plane in a replay you can use RShift+F8, "friendly padlock", after doing LCtrl+F2 for enemy aircraft external camera. 1

6./ZG26_5tuka Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 (edited) Didnt watch till the end but still can give some advise. 1. At the beginning you desperately tried to climb up and get a luckyshot on the 109. Didnt work out that well and wasted a lot of energy + you threatened yourself by stalling the airplane. Once you spin youre defenseless and easy prey. It would have been better to stay lower, keep you speed at min. corner speed and face the attacking 109 with defebsive manouvres. 2. Too much manouvreing during the middle fight when the 109 BnZed you. Even when he already passed you still pulled turns, rolls ect. (loss of sight to your foe?). When flying defensive always manouvre as less as possible to retain your energy. Usually you let the enemy dive on you to just disengage him in the final seconds before he has a shooting solution. Once your shure he can not shoot you can go straight and accelerate/climb to catch up with your attackers energy level. This of course requires constant siggt to your enemy and good situational awareness for you plane and heading. 3. Clouds have been mentioned already. There was one occasion I expecfed you to engage him offensively but instead dived into a cloud. Cloud hiding in general is a very last solution if you face a totally superiour oppoment, which was not the case in this particular situation (at least judging by the video). Overall there was some nice fighting but my impression of it is you need to work a bit on: - situational awareness (especially when tracking your enemy) - use of defensive tactis when they're suited (not running away) - more self confidence in combat (expirience will provide that) Sry if my impression is totally wrong, as said I only watched the first half of the fight. This is only friendly advise, no judge of your flight skills. I dont want to sound like a teacher (well I probably do ) Edited June 19, 2015 by Stab/JG26_5tuka 1
Guest deleted@50488 Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 (edited) How did you get the outside view footage from the 109 ? My best guess is that you recorded the "session" and latter played it from the CTRL-F2 view ( opponent ) and combined that video with your cockpit footage ? Edited June 19, 2015 by jcomm
coconut Posted June 19, 2015 Author Posted June 19, 2015 @ Thanks for the advice, what you wrote definitely makes sense to me! @ Yes, I recorded the action in game, then replayed it from my point of view, recording with Shadowplay. Then I played it again from the enemy's POV, using CTRL-F2 and RShift-F8 for the tracking. Then I combined the two recordings i Vegas Movie Studio. My crash provided an easy way to sync the two clips 1
coconut Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 (edited) Getting a bit better, or maybe it's just that the fw190 is easier. Still no kill, the AAA stole it. Edited July 10, 2015 by coconut 1
JimTM Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 Very entertaining stuff Coconut, thanks. I like the way that you made use of the clouds and extending away to make the 109 use some energy to catch you. I thought you had escaped successfully near the end; too bad. Those escape methods have worked for me in the past, especially if you have some friendlies in the area to slide under or a friendly airbase to drag the enemy over. Salut!
