Well I never !!! Until now ......

I never before had an issue with registering hit sound until now at all...... I always thought, maybe, maybe, probably paranoia, there might be a little problem and that people are blowing it out of proportion in normal flight sim community style.

But I defo have it now and bad!!!!! Instead of what used to be a shocking BANG, CRUNCH, WALLOP it is now a dull POOF at most if at all!!!!

But what makes it complticated is that I recently upgraded from a 770 to a 970 (Possible cause #1)

and also there has been a lot of updates and patches recently (Possible cause #2)

A hunch tells me its my hardware for some reason but a hunch is as good a choc tea pot.

Has anyone else who never had this problem sudenly developed it after the resent round of updates?

Has anyone always had this on the 9XX series cards?

Also I must apologies on behalf of anyone that had this problem before and was questioned, it is a massively annoying thing!!

Peace love keep it clean !!

I don't see how it could be the gpu unless you are passing the sound through the hdmi port or using the nvidia sound drivers.

I have a 780 and have had this problem, with no fix, since day 1.

I'll be getting fired at, hear nothing, then the notification panel lights up with red text of systems destroyed and my wings fly off.

Oddly, sometimes when im shooting someone else, when I land a hit,it sounds like IM the one being hit.

Glad to see other people are having this issue. Well not glad its an issue, but glad more people are drawing attention to it.

Since day 1 here as well.

I doubt its a hardware issue, and more of an engine issue.

Same here. I don't think it has ANYTHING to do with the GPUs though.

And this is why the engine used for sound is bad and does not work well for this game.

The sounds you hear are your hits on enemy planes....which you should not hear. Do a search for sound bubble on here and you will understand what a silly system it is for a flight game.

Still waiting for an acknowledgement that it is a bug from the devs. I am afraid if it is never said its an issue, it will be ignored.

Yeah but I didnt have it before ever and now I do! the only change is the GPU.............

What percentage is your sound setting inside the game? Maybe it gets reset (wiped) for some reason? ...My keyboarding gets wiped for the mouse everyone I start the program.

I have a GTX 770 and have had this problem from day one.   One of the most annoying things for me about this sim.

Sorry to hear that others are now having to experience this.  However, this latest update seems to have fixed this issue for me to a much better extent. I hear more hits and also there is a deeper bass sound from flak explosions that i can now hear from inside the cockpit.  I hope the devs keep working on optimizing the hit sound issue for everyone.  You should go to the Technical Issue section and post with your hardware specs.

I have had the hit sound issue since i joined which was around the end of 1.006 I believe. I also have found that this most recent update has shown an improvement in the flak sounds being heard exploding around the aircraft from inside the cockpit.

I have also heard some pretty distinct bangs and clunks, that I don't remember hearing very often before, as I have taken a cannon round or flak hit to a major component. Hopefully the issue gets sorted out soon for everyone.

I also have this very annoying feature since day one. Sometimes it seems to work and other times nothing.

I have never altered my sound settings (why should I?) they work good enough on every other game I own and play. I am sure there is enough folk saying this is a problem, but apparently the devs think otherwise.

A shameful display.

I'm using dolby digital live vía spdif, connected at one real 5.1 sound system. Sounds for me are good or aceptable.

Which sound system are you using?

Not all shots will be audible, but I can hear the enemy fighter shooting over me, depending of the distance, and others fighters shooting in other situations, and the impacts. Not all, but maybe it's realistic, none of us know this on reality, I think

"I have never altered my sound settings (why should I?)"     By that logic you would never alter your graphic settings either.....

For many the sounds work fine, this is a simple fact. some people hear hit sounds flak and many other effects

Therefore the actual sounds do work. (within the known limits of the sound engine)

They are not porked or broken because they do work on some systems, 2.1 and 5.1

What IS an issue is that there are many sound cards, sound drivers amplifiers, types of speakers onboard sound chips windows settings, driver settings etc, the variables are actually quite astounding

In a perfect world all possible setups could be tested and sounds would work as designed out of the box.

What does not help is blanket statements that the sounds are F****D the devs are stupid what a waste of money!!!! etc..

There have been many threads with people giving suggestions to various settings that have indeed helped to sort out the sound issues some are suffering from, BoS is not a AAA project with a multi million dollar budget a little patience and messing with settings may help to isolate the issue and allow positive results to solve the problem for others.

At the OP, I would suggest to see if when you installed your new GPU did you also install new graphics drivers? Nvidia drivers can have an effect on sound settings and relationship to windows sound settings

You say that it's a simple fact that sounds do work for some.

Then you say that this means the actual sounds do work.

But right after you say sounds do not work for some.

Do you see where you contradict yourself or should I point it out for you? Because right now it looks like you spent a lot of time pontificating in disagreement when some of your statements clearly support the other side.

Are you trying to just be difficult....if the sounds work for some/many this is a fact that they are not completely broken and non functional, it would be common sense to believe that there is a settings/hardware compatibility issue

There is no contradiction unless you are just trying to be obtuse for arguments sake...

Fact 1 - Some people hear hit sounds, include his hits in enemy planes ahead, these very loudly.

Fact 2 - These that hear, loose some sounds in many sounds situations - the the loud sounds muffles the lowest.

Fact 3 - Some people don't hear hit sounds

Seems that less sophisticated sound systems - onboard 2.1 sound, stereo (not 5.1, 7.1) speakers/headphones - help more in hear than sophisticated ones.  :)

Well with BoS I can't.   ;)

And since why are we talking about graphic settings in a sound thread? If my sounds work in every game I play why would I mess with them, they are not the same as graphic settings, didn't you know that?

ive had this problem since day one, there was a fix somewhere around the general discussion forum a long time ago (that worked for some people) and dont know if its burried now, it could have been something like "BoS sounds revisited" if i remember correctly

Here I think.

I cant comment on the receiving end of enemy fire, but I still here my own weapons impact upon target.

I hear my bullets hitting the enemy in SP an MP (this should be fixed).

And I hear the hitsounds on my plane in SP (no fault with the sound engine obviously), but I very seldom hear hitsounds in MP (fix appreciated).
