Hi Veteran, thanks and apologies to you and your team for that. I just got home and opened up the sound mix in my editor to check. There are indeed three separate samples of yours in there. Two of four second duration and another much longer one that goes for about 11 seconds. Certainly full credit to you for the creation of those. If you'd prefer I took them out just let me know.

FSM, I started your LW Afrika campaign in HSFX 7 again yesterday.

:salute:

Does that still work? When various AI planes became flyable and different units became available, a few things in my campaigns got broken. Anyway, I hope it does work and that you get a laugh out of it. It was fun to make.

Very good immersion, thanks again!

Please can we have this for single-player use?

You're welcome guys.

Mungee, the sample works in SP just fine. It will play out whenever the AI announce that they are wounded or bailing.

I find that the BoS radio messages are the most irritating out of all the flight sims over the last decade (even more so than Cliffs of Dover, which sounds like Peter Dinklage trying to impersonate C3PO). I have tried to find ways of improving the stock voices in BoS, but their repertoire is so limited and so repetetive that there is little I can do to fix it.

The problem is not the voice actors themselves like in CloD. It is largely the way the samples are delivered, with sentences being constructed from a shopping list of individual words. They are robotic and unnatural. The text, which flashes across black rectangular boxes is intrusive uninformative. Most of the irritating chanting is apparently done by your own unintroduced character, who really needs to be the silent protagonist. The ground controller just delivers a stream of useless and unwanted information to nobody in particular. It's like trying to make love while Raaaid is talking in the next room...

Great idea, I can't wait to try it!

Before I forget, I recommend SP players try just renaming the varCallsign subfolders in each of the eleven Actor folders titled Actor01, Actor02, Actor03 etc.  Add a " - " at the begining of each of these so the subfolders read -varCallsign.  This will cut out the worst of the repetition, but still leaves you with some semblance of company.  I've been doing this for some time and find its the best compromise.

Many thanks, Feathered_IV.

I tried both. I just love them. They make MP - and even SP - so much more immersive! Thank you so much!

Hi Reflected, that's great news.  I'm really glad you like them.  PM is on its way with some helpfull info.  :salute:

Is this for VVS sounds only?

I didn't rename anything and it doesn't sound repetitive at all. Mind you, I don't speak Russian nor German, so as far as I'm concerned it's a new sentence every time

So far Zami I've only renamed my Russian varCallsign folders.  I havent flown the Lufties for a while, but I imagine it would help there too.

I think I`ll do the same. Don`t understand a word they say

The german one gets quite repetetive over time but it surely adds some abmbience. I don't quite like the continous interferrence noises between different calls, which gets quite annoys.me over time.

Sorry about that.  I don't have many good German voice samples to work with, especially ones where I know what is being said.  I'll see if I can revisit it though and do a new improved version.  I'll make sure the incidental static is kept to a minimum too.

The download links gives out an error message, in any configuration I tried.

The forum does not allow me to edit an existing post to update a link. Try post #6 on page 1. I just tried it and it works.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me.  I'm working on updating and improving this, but need some advice.

When I use the mod in-game, each time the new radio sample plays there is a loud, sustained burst of static which occurs for about five seconds before the sample plays normally.  This is not a part of the sound samples I have made, nor is it an actual deliberate sound from the game.  It appears to be an error noise as the rep_wounded.ogg tries to play.

First of all, I'd like to know if anyone else experiences this.  Secondly, if you don't.  I'd like to know what your sound setup is...

Most importantly I'd like to hear some suggestions of what I can try to remove or minimise this annoying and unwanted burst of static.  So far I've tried:

  • Make first 10-20 seconds of sound sample silent to try and make loading easier

  • Add one small mike noise at start then make next 10-20 seconds silent before the main body of the sample begins.

  • Reduce bit rate of the sound sample to the lowest mono rate and size I can.

If a solution cannot be found I'll need to look at making the samples shorter and much more generic perhaps.  However if anyone can offer suggestions I'd be very grateful.  :salute:

This static sound is from game engine, I shut up the annoying  "I am wounded" and others BS, but sill listening the static (and read the message if the CHAT window if are on) even in MP...  :(

Thanks Sokol, I really appreciate the reply. I did some digging around and extracted the sounds from the game. It looks like the game is playing a sound called something like Radio Static 11 (away from my computer at the moment). Without a mods-on mode it can't really be edited out.

I've been working on a new version which uses 12 sound files rather than just one. It stops the radio chatter sounding repetitive, even when there is 50+ players and complete carnage going on.

Great addition, thanks.

Is there a way to increase their voulme a bit?

With new sound engine , they are quite low.

Snatched up the Luftwaffe one right away...Might there be one for the RAf and AAF coming as well?

Ya it’s very annoying,  not even a proper panpan or mayday...   no call out of location, alt, heading....

imagine modern flight emergency...

B777 Flight:...‘We’re crashing!’

ATC:..... ‘ok?’

I mean I’m not sure if radio etiquette back in the day but I’m sure it was a bit better then that...

id prefer no message at all... in MP if there’s gonna be a message from a player... it should come from  the player.  Not automated.
