Thought the E1 had 3 guns in each wing? Late April Fools perhaps?

My guess is that basic version will be one with 2 machine guns removed, as was the case quite often in Soviet Union, and 2 more .50 cals will be unlock.

Messerchmitt fodder( & has  a wicked high speed stall .This plane is going to go through some interesting FM growth when introduced...maybe more than the FW-190.... :o: )

Guys,

It did have 6 guns per standard U.S. Regs but according to Viks there were instances where 2 were removed to save weight or when guns were in short supply. So they made adding the 2 guns back an Unlock. So you will have 6 if you want.

Awesome news!

Thats an interesting landing gear desing. It folds and twists?

From a purely amateur perpective, that sounds like it would add more complexity and they would be more prone to failure.

make sure you supply us with FAB^s for the 3 hardpoints and to make use of that Droptank attachment point there...

and if the gun was removed, i bet the hole was patched over (3d!) or taped over (3D!)
nice catch on the flap, canopy angle, weapons details and stuff.

GOOD! really GOOD!

I like the idea behind the machine gun setup, as the Russians were fond of removing guns from the P-40 (and the P-39 as well).

Is it just me or is the chin intake just a fraction too small?

I think it is just the angle of the pics, plus the sharks teeth always make it look bigger in photos.

Genuine question:

Do you have any sources where I could read about the performance differences between the "gun-in" and "gun-out" variants?

No, unfortunately I do not have that sort of data. I did send a whole lot of original P-40 E data to the team, though, so there might be something there they can work with.

I know the 56thFG did the same thing with some of its P-47s to improve the roll rate. It's hard to imagine it made much difference.

Is this the M105 or the RAF version? I see only 4 x M2 .50 Cal machine guns? I thought it had six?

Allison Powered U.S. Lend Lease and you will have the choice of 4 or 6 .50's.

If the 4 mg is a field mod then the standar version should be the 6 mg one, and the 4 mg an unlock.

E-s had only central loadout (if not to count wing frag bombs - but mostly it wasnt used at all), so we will have central loadout with 250 or 500 kilo bomb.

3x point came with M/N models.

Just like with 190 4 cannons should have been standard and 2 cannon version unlock. Although I am not sure about soviet p-40s, maybe even most of them had only 4 .50s cals? I am sure someone here can come up with data about the numbers... ;)
