IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Moscow Pre-Order Program

Recommended Posts

I posted this elsewhere but realised this is probably the most appropriate place. BOM will cost me approx $100AUD for what will be an extra map, a couple of extra a/c and potentially a really basic campaign. Add to that the relatively empty servers (with most pinging >300 for me). Is it worth it? Also, is the BOS map going to be in winter white again?

I wouldn't necessarily call it a "legendary air battle of World War II"...

The attack was repeated with 115 bombers the following night. Kapitan Titenkov of 11 IAP and Mladshiy Leytenant Lukyanov of 34 IAP managed to bring down their second respective bombers in the illuminated night fighter zone 5. Soviet fighters and AAA claimed the destruction of 15 enemy bombers (the Germans admitted the loss of five). During the third Moscow raid on the night of the 24th, the attack force had been reduced to 100. Due to both the strong Russian defense and the impossibility to keep such a large portion of the diminishing German bomber force away from the growing difficulties at the front, the number of aircraft participating in each raid decreased from 100 during the third night to 50, 30, and finally no more than 15. Within short, the proud Luftwaffe 'offensive' against Moscow had been reduced to mere nuisance raids.

The most successful individual Soviet fighter pilot during the brief 'air battle of Moscow' was Kapitan Konstantin Titenkov, who scored one bomber on each of the four first raids, thus becomin decorated with the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star as a token of a Hero of the Soviet Union.

Regardless, I'm going to pre-order premium and am glad we now have the missing assets for BoS. 1st or 2nd battles of Crimea would have been better.

Done... yis!

I'm also disappointed about the exclusion of Moscow city from the game area. Please reconsider!

I'm curious why we can not pre-order a standard version? ther is only premium.

I know, this is a jump on the money, as I wrote before.

Still... tumblr_lwn7hvQ1EG1qdlkgg.gif

Bought and the key is activated, now for the long wait, and an explanation to the Minister for War and Finance!! 105$ is a bit ouchy, but I'm worth it, ....I think....

Yea..

Darn right I am. Do you work for your employer for free? Do you tell them they are just jumping on the money when they request payment from their customers?

Good to see that the price is lower then BoS.

Given that many of the aircraft we are getting are variants of BoS stuff it wouldn't be right to charge the same.

Just bought mine. Looking forward to possibilities BoM will open.

This is the annoying part. Companies are meant to self fund, release a finished product, then recoup their investment through sales, etc. Not get the community to fund every stage of the development so that its the community that bears the risk if they don't deliver or, as in the case of BOS, release something that isn't a fully finished product (I'm looking at the SP campaign). I'm happy to sit back and wait until the product is fully developed before I go investing my hard earned $$ into it. Why pay $100 now for something I won't get until 2016 when I could leave that in the bank, earn interest (pittance yes, but I still control it) then purchase the product...assuming its fully developed, QA'd and complete.

It's about $101ish Canadian but I'm thinking about it.

I would like to hear more about single player campaign plans and ways that both BoM and BoS single player campaigns might evolve. I think the base of what we have is a great start but they do need something more to spice them up and really let them shine. Future dev update?

I have serious concerns about this developer.

At the very least I want to see a mods on mode, a compelling offline campaign (Ala dcg), and custom graphics settings.

BUT...I spent $400 for a HOTAS warthog, and $90 for a 100mm extension for said stick! That's nuts! It makes $80 for a new theater and 10 planes look like a good goddamn deal!

I'll buy as soon as I get home after work.

And done...

Done, and done.  Easy call.  Looking forward to a stable of new airplanes.

Ahhh I have to wait until Thursday. But it looks like I have until July. So, if the wife says no I won't be so bummed! CONGRATS DEV TEAM. I really looking forward to this one.

Is the single "Campaign" of the BoM going to be the same type or form as the BoS?

Premium order for a premium game.  Excited to order!

Definitely pick it up at some point.  The bf110 is a personal favourite.

At the moment $110 South Pacific Peso's is a bit rich for me!

Good luck with the project.

Keep up the solid work guys. I'm excited to see another module coming up. Keep making them and we will keep buying them. Keep up the progress on the mission builder, bug fixes, and adding features if and when they become possible. We appreciate the interaction and feedback from you developers.

I know I'm not alone in wishing this franchise a bright and prosperous future. It's different and interesting to be able to play the betas as they are actively being developed. It's also a good way to make your customers part of the process.

What happend the last time where we supported them with the BoS pre-order. The Unlocks drama, The Custom Graphic Settings remove, Multiplayer player count before 64 after 32 now 45 drama,  Announced features "Mods on Mode from RoF" readable inside the Developer Diary was canceled this year 2015, but to Dez. 2014 you can read it was still planned to add it into the game.

And what they do to support us?

What is +-$10 more or less that is not a huge difference. BoS is still the better deal.

Are you kidding?

Nice !

Wow 80 bucks for preorder, holy macaroni batman !

EDIT: After looking at some comments, i don't understand why some are buying so early, they don't even know the full details, and yet they're ready to give 80 dollars for it.

They must really be true fans  :)

Yes.. true fans.. and there is nothing wrong with that and the product is worth it. I figure since ongoing work on updating the basic engine will still continue I think that by the time BoM is released we will not only have the new content from BoM, but by then hopefully we will have more missions, campaigns, who knows what other things will be accomplished between now and then. Who knows what the state of the sim will be when BoM is finally released.. None of us do and I don't think even the team does because it seems to me that they are doing this with a plan.. but also kind of on the fly and with a certain amount of flexibility.. Just because they are not doing things when some of us think they should does not mean that they are not thinking of doing them at some point. The way I see it.. BoS, BoM.. BoNext .. It's all the same thing just a work in progress.. and for me BoM Premium is like someone else said.. $8 - $13 a plane with new maps.. depending on how you want to look at it... but either price is fair as far as I am concerned..

Agonized over this one for a while - I still can't gin up any real enthusiasm for flying BoS given the bad taste left over from the unlock fiasco, loss of graphics options, and all the other things everybody has beat to death over the last few months, and the total lack of an immersive, historically sound SP experience at this point.

But, despite all that I keep finding myself drawn back in to BoS with every update to try again and hope things are getting better (and they seem to be), and I know I'm really going to want to fly that Bf-110 and Ju-88 (probably my two favorite German aircraft of the period for some reason dating way back to childhood).  Plus, like Mulder, I still want to believe.

So, in for a penny, in for a pound.

Hoping for more good things - I'm in.

I look at it this way with DCS.. The only module that I paid full price for was the Mustang. I don't do choppers (I found that out with BS 1) so nothing lost there.. and Combined Arms, FC3, The Sabre I got on sale.. and the 109, 190, Spit and P-47 when they come out were all part of that ill fated WWII thing.. but IL22 is here now .... and it is getting full support.. and it is a great sim.. It doesn't get everything right.. but it gets more right than it does wrong.. and it gets more right today than it did 45 days ago.. and will probably get even more right 45 days from now.. so I don't see this as a loosing propositin in any way shape or form and I am really looking forward to the day when I can fly a Mustang under this FM..

If nothing else this team has shown me that they can deliver, that they can be flexible, that in spite of what some may say they do listen.. (just because they don't respond the way we want when we want does not mean that they won't respond eventually.. ) and the sim is good... so for me it is better to just suck it up and buy it now for less.. than more later...

Comparing study(ish) sim to sim light.

I don't mean any ill in that statement, but there is a sim hierarchy, snd this sim and dcs sit on different tiers within it.

As with the AR vs AK debate the only true answer is get both!

Fantastic! Preorder mode ON!

Just curious, will it be possible to buy just some planes from BOM for us that already own BOS?

You'd need an official answer to be absolutely certain but it seems that unless something changes planes will be sold in the BoM pack (i.e. all or nothing +/- premiums). IIRC it was an early decision to sell 'expansions' rather than individual planes, someone can correct my memory.

I'd like the same to be honest or even single nation packs.

A decent campaign (kinda like ROF) would make me pre-order, for now though I will wait and see how this pans out.

I would like to wish all the devs the best of luck with their new product and I'm certainly looking forward to following all the dev diary's that's to come.

Mick. :)

That's what I will do.

Until that, I will try to stay strong

$105 Australian, that's a bit of a killer. Need to save for Mrs F_IV's birthday present next month before squirreling cash for BoM. Haven't decided what to get her yet. Pity she's not into flight sims. :D

Perhaps a model of a Sturmovic to put on her dressing table to remind her of you.

Well, DCS is already more populated and way more advanced than BOS, your argument is wrong sir  ;).

But i can see what you're talking about, buying a package instead of individual planes, i'm ok with that, but i'll probably buy the game's standard edition
