Jaws2002 Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 (edited) +1 The purpose of feedback in communication is to ensure that message has been understood. This topic is probably the best example that an undetermined numbers of members of this community didn't get the message properly. http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/1556-whats-your-plan-when-you-first-start-bos-beta/?p=35182 ... Actually it shows that the vast majority of players, based on the information available as late as the beginning of October, didn't expect such a limited "release". There was no message. FuriousMeow Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 (edited) The vast vocal players, I wouldn't call it the majority. Especially when you see the Tues-Thurs poll. There is a point in a developer diary - possibility of limited release. Good enough indication to be prepared for it. Edited November 2, 2013 by FuriousMeow
DD_bongodriver Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 The poll simply means most people can live with it, I'd still say the majority were not expecting the limit and were not particularly thrilled either. 1
FuriousMeow Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 (edited) I wouldn't. This place isn't over-run with 3000 players complaining of it, just repitition from a select few. I've never seen a game given access 7 months prior to it's release be anything but lackluster and fully incomplete. Edited November 2, 2013 by FuriousMeow
DD_bongodriver Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 lackluster and fully incomplete I don't think anybody expects any more, it's more to do with the midweek limitation, simply not complaining does not mean being happy.

FuriousMeow Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 It'll be more than double price for premium for the release version. So pay less now and get an incomplete title with a month of limited access and several unlocks plus couple skins or pay more and get less on release day.
EAF19_Swoop Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 I wasn't just paying for early access but to actually support BoS development and my favorite hobby. I've never been into beta testing as time is limited but I'm actually looking forward to being involved in this and watching this mature. Should bring a new meaning to friday updates. 2
DD_bongodriver Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 The 'support the devs' theory breaks down a little when you consider that by buying early they get less money.
Rjel Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 The 'support the devs' theory breaks down a little when you consider that by buying early they get less money. On the other hand, they get a lot of free play testers. For what that's worth. Might be a win-win.
Tone71 Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 The 'support the devs' theory breaks down a little when you consider that by buying early they get less money. I'd imagine they need money now though.
Jaws2002 Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 (edited) I'd imagine they need money now though. 1C makes some 500 millions a year. They sure could use some help...... Edited November 3, 2013 by Jaws2002
FuriousMeow Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 (edited) Valve makes tons of money as well. That doesn't mean developmeant studios that they publish ever see any of it. Edited November 3, 2013 by FuriousMeow
71st_AH_Hooves Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 (edited) So since we are getting the LAGG first, Im probably going to make sure all my controls are set up JUST The way I like. Rather than like when a I get a game at release, Im so excited to play that I skip a bunch of control schemes just to get into the action. Which inevitably results in me getting killed, or losing more than I should because I didn't have a key or axis mapped. Id also like to get my hands on some imperical data to compare my Aircraft to, like top speed at cruise, and max altitude. Then Ill probably try to land... Several times. Dakpilot Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 But then again, I haven't seen many sold for double price in this state either. How many times do you have to state this before you think it will become true? I would like to see (having pre-orderd the premium) how I can get the same package for 1/2 of what i paid now, at the official game release? please point me to this information, thanks for your time cheers Dakpilot 1
LG1.Farber Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 (edited) When I first start BoS, thanks to update 39 as I now know what I'll do, I'll get in the lagg-3 and take off (unless its an airspawn?) fly for about 5 mins, then quit and wait for the next riveting installment. Edited November 3, 2013 by 5./JG27Farber
ATAG_Slipstream Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 True, it could be airstart... TBH I have zero interest in the LaGG, or any Russian plane. So, I will have a quick look, then wait for the next release, when things hopefully will get more interesting.

Maybe what would help is pretending it's a captured aircraft which you have the chance to put through its paces and see what you'll be up against. Know thy enemy and all that. In my case I also had zero interest in the LaGG but since it's the only one on the table initially, I bought a book about it and now that I know something about its development and background I really look forward to giving it a go. It's unlikely to be my main ride but it'll broaden my horizons. Seems a waste to snob an aircraft just because it's not one's thing. 2

I could do that, I was thinking of just getting my squad mates on TS3 and when I come up behind them shouting "dakka dakka dakka dakka!", it'll be like when we were 8 and we used to play armies, a stick for a gun and stuff I fly my share of "carp planes" thank you very much! Waiting for your FMB tutorials!
A_S Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Hoping it doesn´t suck for some reason ... other than that....having confidence
Tone71 Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Seems a waste to snob an aircraft just because it's not one's thing. Agree. Also seems a waste to buy the Premium edition and then not actually help with any beta testing. 1
LLv34_Flanker Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 S! Really need to start thinking of a good control setup for the Thrustmaster Warthog :D Not too long anymore! :D
dburne Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 (edited) S! Really need to start thinking of a good control setup for the Thrustmaster Warthog :D Not too long anymore! :D I am going to base mine off the one I made up for Cliffs of Dover, just will need to know the appropriate key commands to assign to the buttons in Target. Cybermat47 Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Hmmm, now that I know there'll be no guns, I think I'll go into multiplayer and ram people
71st_AH_Hooves Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Hmmm, now that I know there'll be no guns, I think I'll go into multiplayer and ram people lol I wonder if there are even going to be MP servers. I think its just "online" to test the login servers? Or I may be way off the mark I haven't paid to much attention to this aspect.
Emgy Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 (edited) I'm happy to fire up Clod just to fly along a canal, look at the scenery and do some low-level acrobatics. Will be happy to do the same in BoS in december. Like Loft is doing here, lighting up trees and houses at night with his landing light. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=rLf6qt76gtQ#t=793 Edited November 5, 2013 by Calvamos
Jaws2002 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 I think i'll sneak up on people and go: taka-taka taka-taka taka-taka, then tell them on team speak "You could teach monkeys to fly better than that". 1

senseispcc Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 1/ install the part of the game I receive. 2/ Fly. 3/ fly again. 4/ fly even more until I know the plane and the map in detail. 5: fly until I drop....
Jaws2002 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 At least you have confidence in their teaching abilities. That was a scene in Battle of Britain: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DVKPS5aPvOc&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DDVKPS5aPvOc This clip didn't catch it all though.
TyphoonOneB Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Watch the bailout animation after having my wing ripped off from a pursuing enemy plane after ground strafing an enemy column in slow motion
