NiiranenVR Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 About Hendrix - one of my favorit If you have time here's a lot of Hendrix and if you stumble around you'll see all bands you can imagine http://tela.sugarmegs.org/alpha/j.html It's a lot of bootlegs 1 1
Gingerwelsh Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 1967 and I was at my usual venue on a Thursday night, Worthing Pier Pavillion, with my mates. Top of the bill was, Jimmy James and the Vagabonds. 3rd was Herbie Goins and the Nightmares. 4th was The Moody Blues. But the only one I can remember, was this one, 2nd on the bill. How could you not remember, someone playing the guitar with their teeth. ? I really got my 5 shillings worth that night.? 3

I was 14. The school athletics carnival was on. It was the prestigious bottom oval where Rugby and Cricket battles had been fought many times by athletes far better than I. I was sitting on a sloping embankment overlooking the oval (well actually it was rectangular) where the girls were strutting their stuff in their athletic gear. Life was good, the girls were even better, and no classes. It seemed girls really were made of sugar and spice and all things nice. I think I was growing up. And then, and I'll never forget it, an older longhair kid sitting in front of me and to my left had this new-fangled battery-operated cassette player. The latest in hi-tech. He pressed the play button and out of this machine came this sound that blew my young mind away. I never knew who that guy was but he changed my life. Such are the chances and weirdness of life.
LLv34_Flanker Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 (edited) S! Finally got some equipment to listen music with. The first song sounded off was Deep Purple's Child in Time. Oh boy the sound System is built around a Tandberg 3026A amplifier, Solid State Reference 12 preamp, Denon 700-series CD and Infinity Kappa 8 speakers. I am so happy yo hear music again, properly. Edited January 23, 2023 by LLv34_Flanker Corrected band..

Guest deleted@83466 Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 Was originally going to post this to mock @Zooropa_Fly but, joking aside, what a good song. I might have already posted this in this thread, but this is actually “what I’m listening to” before bed.
ST_Catchov Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 We'll never see the likes of these guys again. Such harmonies and humour. As an old fogie I'm glad I lived through such musical adventures. They really were bigger than Jesus. Omnipresent. An amazing period and a cultural revolution that changed the world forever. "In Spite Of All the Danger" written by McCartney and recorded in 1958 when they were all teenagers in a band known as The Quarrymen. The harmonies were already there and the rest is history. It may be an interesting anecdote for some .... 1

Guest deleted@83466 Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 (edited) Highlander: The only guy that had even a little bit of a convincing Scottish accent was Sean Connery, and he was playing a Spaniard…Awesome Queen song-> Edited January 27, 2023 by SeaSerpent
ST_Catchov Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 Hmm Queen. Not really my cup of tea I'm afraid. However, if we're going back to the 70's, here's a little number that that had a cool groove .... PS .... Sean Connery spoke Scottish no matter what he was in lol. He made a point of it. Legend.

I saw it back in late eighties. Queen stuck with me ever since. Clancy Brown made a hell of the villain in the Kurgan role. 1

ST_Catchov Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 Whatever happened to nice, wholesome music? Check out the key change at 1.25! And the dancing. Pure class. And then when I wanna really rock out and bust some crazy moves, well it's this .... wholesome but with a hint of danger.
ST_Catchov Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 Sometimes, when I'm feelin' a bit down I toon into this 'ere channel for solace and guidance. Available on all devices! I dunno .... is it the energy, is it the love, is it the magic of masterful music? Or sheer optimism, positive mindfulness, good hair, toe-tapping happiness and brilliant key changes?
