Has Anyone Made Any Pvp Co-Ops Yet?

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I'm looking for old fashioned IL2 style co-op missions, they don't need to be very complex 'Red take off with an escort objective and blue intercept' or similar type stuff.

At this time I do not have the knowledge of the FMB to build my own and was hoping to get something to get started with, possibly open up in the editor and modify for our own needs.

Many thanks in advance

Old fashioned il2 style is not posible. Its well known that the old coop style is not implemented. If I recall Habu correctly, not even the "almost never used" RoF coop style.

Hi Haashashin

Yes I understand we can't do it the old way.

Is this possible.

Two squads join a passworded server that I host. Reds spawn in restricted plane sets and at the same time the blues do the same so you have a flight of human Yak1 ready to take off and a flight of human 109s also ready to take off somewhere else on the map. The red pilots have a task which is to take off and escort Pe2s to a target zone which they bomb, meanwhile the 109s have to climb, locate and intercept them.

I'm basically looking for any pvp type mission that we can test with another squad and fly it in the spirit of the old co-ops even if the actual game style doesn't exist. Hopefully I can then open it up in the FMB and modify it to our needs.

Thanks for the reply!

Hi Emil,

Yes its possible to build something like that, but it will have to be deathmatch. You can restrinct the planes and asign different names to it ans only have to coordinate the mission with others. If I have the time I will make a simple one for you, that in case of one doing it first ;), as I have a lot of stuff on hands as it stands

Thanks mate I understand, I was hoping someone else might have already done something like this. I am currently watching the ROF FMB tutorials but at the rate I am going it will be weeks before I figure it out lol

Cheers

Doubt you would want a co-op mission to begin with.

With a co-op mission, once mission has started, no one else is able to join.

And if you get killed, or even a prop strike on take off, you can not re-join the mission.

Deathmatch is the way to go...

That's exactly what we're after.

I think that can be achieved by setting a maximum number of aircraft rather than unlimited, planning to test this tonight.

I'm just no good with this editor, I'm learning but it is going very slow and was hoping someone else might ahve made something that I could modify for our needs.

Cheers

Good luck to you both. I never played much co-op but I understand it is very desirable to much of this community. I'm hoping you can come up with an acceptable facsimile.

Isn't this more or less how it was with the 'OLD' IL-2? As far as I can remember it is. I know if I crashed on take off that the only way for me to rejoin was for the mission to be restarted. Of course we had the famous "Lobby" or mission areas to congregate in till we knew we were ready. Still ....

I really hope they will add good ol'fashioned coop. Our squad definitely played more coop than df in rof. It's true you can simulate coop in df, restrict and distribute individual planes a trigger mission, but still missing important feature and thats AI taking over unused planes. There maybe some hacky solution with triggers and counters, but still... DEVS PLEASE, WE NEED COOP MODE, THX

Yes it was annoying sometimes when people crashed on take off and you had to restart the mission but that was the way we had to make sure everyone took off at the same time and to prevent people respawning after they got shot down. It's perfect for Squad versus squad fights or battles with a fixed number of opponents. While we don't have that exact system in BOS we're trying a work around and instead of Hyperlobby we'll need to find a away of getting other squads to fight against.

I made a simple mission when 6 G2s could spawn at an airfield we're going to fill the slots up and get someone to crash to make sure they cannot respawn. If that works we'll have the same type of thing on the other side and then add some mission stuff i.e. AI, targets and flak. Prankster's video has been incredibly useful.

AI taking over unused planes.

Yep we were talking about that last night, I suspect there are people who know how to make this kind of stuff work.

I'm fairly sure they're never going to implement the kind of system we really need which is a lobby + co-op mode so we'll have to suck it up and work around it. I was wondering if a steam/Whatsapp or IRC  group for squads (or Cos) would work because at the moment the biggest problem will be finding opponents at short notice.

Completely agree. My squad lived off of the coop dynamic campaign generator from Lowengrin. I remember seeing a ton of coops going on too, while in Hyperlobby back in the day. I'd like to see coop missions available, too.

Well , whoever has participated in any IL2 online war knows that these missions were coop.

And anyone that has participated in this kind of wars knows that it was the best experience that you can have from Il 2, both old and new :)

I hope that coop will be implemented at some point in this sim, and Hyper lobby too.

If this happens you ll a have a completely different experience from what you had so far.

I have wrote some Coop style missions to run in a dogfight deathmatch server for rise of flight .

You can set Ai of various sorts in action from Air to ground actions .

Set some spawning airfields for players and put their side/aircraft type & available numbers with location for said aircraft

including load out in the server /mission brief.

Ai flights can be set to a timer delay before they take off from non selectable airfields by not making player aircraft selectable from that field even thou it is a freindly field.

When players spawn you can put in a caption set to a rasonable time by use of the mcu's with a brief set for only that side to see.Be sure the caption is in different screen positions for each field . It is also a good idea once a player selects a side

that there is a massive delay if they switch sides to discorage spy's :)Mention this in the pre seletion brief to stop people

switching and getting fed up . If random targets are also available or Ai are set to re-spawn after a delay multiple attempts

can be made to fly the primarys & secondarys etc and the coop almost becomes an arena . Once assigned targets are complete the

mission builder can set a mission rtb warning and all flights can rtb within a time you set before the mission ends .Statistics show up same as in a dogfight server. Save these triggers etc in groups ,once done they can be loaded to any mission and altered to suit .Not quite the same as COOP types your used to but fun just the same especialy as you can if set go grab another

aircraft if you are shot down .Server can also set a points value or trigger to load the next mission.

You're right. Cooperative mod is not implemented in BoS. It's a feature in RoF, but not BoS.

@ Emil : if you want i can provide you a mission i already done with AI. I have a HE111 group which need to be escort. It's a random activation, so they start from a different airfield. There is a message which tell you where they spawn. They are taking off, go to their objective, then go back and land. For the russian side, there are recon PE2 which can be Ai and Human. The Ai has a random objective. The mission is build to play as a german player, because i have Ai russian flight, but not german instead of Bomber.

The HE111 take amost 20 minutes to go to the right altitude before going to their objective.

Hi Habu

That would be much appreciated. It's great to get missions from other people as it gives me a chance to look at how they built them. I'm still learning the FMB but getting there slowly :D

Here it is.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/rjduu79u90pop87/Escorte_aleatoire_v1.6_Good.zip

It's a night mission, but you can edit the time with the editor. Do not be frightened if you have an error with integrity check, it's link to the Stalingrad city object. The problem is already solved in 1.10. You can play the mission with that error, we did it with 40 human players. be carreful, there are many Ai and object, so you need having a good server.

If you have any question feel free to ask. I will answer asap.

Thanks Habu!

My server is running on second PC which is a i5 @4200 MHz 8 gig of RAM and with 70 Mbps Down 11 Mbps up.

Does that sounds good enough? I'm not really sure what a good server is.

Thanks again

It should be ok for the server. Processor and RAM will not limit the mission. :)

Here is the server i and syndicate use for information (if they don't change, they have less RAM).

Windows server 2012
Processor : Xeon E3 1230 v2 @ 3.3 ghz
Ram : 32 GO

Bandwith : 100MB

On the quad core, i use only 2 physical core for one dedicated server. Do not use hyperthreading core. I use bill process manager to define which core i want to use for one program.

On big mission i monitored the processor at 3.43 GHz (which is the top for my xeon), the memory at 4 GO and the bandwith in upload at 11 Mbps. It's the highest value, not constant.

BoS has a really good coop mission generator included. It´s called campaign. You load a compaign mission, check the briefing map (make a screenshot of the map), save it to a folder and then make it MP and load it to your dserver. So you can fly your mission with your friends. Needs about a minute.
