Topic says it all.

Would like to open up a mission or two and deconstruct to further my learning in MP mission building.

Thanks,

Tip

Open the direct path of the mission file.

Eg. you got mission1.msnbin in your folder,

The editor browser wont look for it, as of the extension.

So type manually mission1.msnbin in the editor browser and open it.

Thanks for the above tip re opening msnbin files.

As the OP suggests, opening the files to deconstruct the logic flow.

It seems most experienced mission makers group the objects.

Hence I am unable to see the properties of the icons - the reason for my opening them in the first instance!

How do I "ungroup" I presume the objects so I can get down to individual icon properties?

You don't need to ungroup them. Select the group icon, right click on it, and choose, "Set Group as Working". You can then access individual icons in the group. Once you're finished in the group, right-click on a blank part of the map and choose "Reset Working Group", which allows you to access the other icons on the map.

By the way, "grouping" mission elements is really useful when making a mission, but also really useful when taking a mission apart in the ME. It allows you to really look at just one AI flight, say, or one triggered event, etc - always assuming the mission builder hasn't made a mistake when making his groups (I know I do!)...

Groups also make it really easy for you to, ahem, "pay tribute" to mission builders by re-using their groups in your own mission!

By the way, the campaign missions have no groups. Open one of those bad boys up in the ME and you end up with something that looks like it's been spat out of the Large Hadron Collider, or some such...

@JimTM I was not able to follow your advice as I have a dropdown menu with only *.mission extension. I was not able to add manually *.msnbin (or *.*). But I found that :...

I assume you are replying to this post. Sorry, I meant that you put *.* in the File Name box.  :)
