Hmm, I think the devs just wanted to find a way to thank founders. I pre-ordered because I have years of experience dealing with many of the IL2 BOS team members and because I wanted to ensure that the team could get money sooner than later, as a matter of basic finance, so help ensure that the team can release the best possible build by the general release date. I can't speak for other founders, but I have no problem with all customers eventually getting the 20 mm gun pods. Just as I ensured that the team enjoyed my money sooner than they otherwise would have, the team will grant me access to the sim sooner than they weill grant access to the customers waiting to order upon general release. Ultimately, upon general release, I have no problem with everyone being offered the opportuinity to purchase, or otherwise obtain, the latest build of all of the things that I will enjoy during the Autumn.  MJ

I think that might be the best idea all round, allow the gunpods to be available at a later date, i also don't mind if the devs take the gun pods back and decide to offer something else to the founders, or even nothing, im happy with just early access.

I think all people should have access to food,shelter and water, not gunpods

 

Leave my gift alone, dont use it if you want to be fair to those who dont have, but also remember not to eat and drink because there are some who dont have access to it

Restricting the availability of gunpods doesn't benefit the founders, it just hurts everyone else. It's not the end of the world, no, but it's a poor precedent to set for reasons that have already been clearly specified.

Somebody should now find out how much use those MG151/20 gunpods did see historically. For those who are worried about ability to fly historically correct missions. My bet is that the action they saw was next to none, but this ofc is just a gut feeling.

And btw, Kokakolo, nice to see you are one of those (rare) individuals who can admit their mistakes. So I guess I was wrong when thinking that you were not very mature

As for those gunpods, I think it's non-issue as there are severe drawbacks in using them and because I really don't think that they saw much action at all. And it was very nice gesture from devs. That said, I still rather had that everyone had a possibility to unlock them during the gameplay.

Great idea. This way both the founders feel special and non-founders can get a hold of the gunpods. First two months after release or so would do.

All this discussion. Guys should not forget that there ARE actually users that apprechiate the fact that the pods ARE exclusive. Discussing until they are no longer exclusive harms them. I mean that has to be thought of in all the discussion.

I'm grateful for the gift. It shows the developer's appreciation to the founders who have contributed their hard earned money to the project. Whether they are used or not, it's the thought that counts. The developers could easily have not offered any gifts & they become unlockable mods or even payable mods.

 

Strange that in todays world people are complaining about receiving something for free. In RoF, field mods have to be purchased.

Well as you can see, some people are *asking* to be able to buy the gunpod option, because it is planned not to be available at all.

When mods are being given as so caled gifts their prime purpes is not to award people already having preorder but as tricks to think this will attracked more people in pre-ordering game.

And this type of exclusive only mods it probably the main reson some people that are used to IL2-1946, IL2-CloD or DCS system, where if player wonts to use some weapon or equipment on airplane imidiatly after they buy game or airplane he can use it without being forced to play some single campaigns, will not be keen to order the game.

 

Especially not if some of that mods will be permanently lock to them if they buy game after it's released.

 

Removing Bf-109G and Yak-1 from unlocked list was step in right direction, but this desision to use wepon mods as exsclusive to small group of players is step back in trying to get those types of costumers

You guys are really great, after I got bored with gun-pod story I started to think about woman breasts, so I went to on-line dating site and grabbed meself a pair.

 

ATM I am not sure if I will have access to them, or is it gonna be pay to win, or play to unlock, or just plain free... who knows  (maybe I ll need to meet with dev team before getting access idk)

 

with full respect toward breasts owner here is cropped image with plain white skin, if you have suggestion on which skin would be better please say, maybe redstars ?

Doing high G turns with gunpods on 109, what a rookie. Devs dont have to model jamming of gunpods its hard to beleve any gamer would behave like this rookie pilot and shoot with wing guns in high G turns, didnt no one told that Rall guy that he can just boom and zoom...

The gift is the R7 weapon modification for Bf.109F-4 - 2х20mm MG151/20 gun pods that you’ll obtain in the game when it’s released. Note that this mod is unique and will only be available by preordering the game and joining the IL2BOS Founders.

I don't want to have any advantages over newcomers in the game, so i won't pre-order as i planned to do for this month. It's such a pity since i was really looking forward to play as soon as possible.

I have nothing against it, but this is just not for me.

I really love what the team is doing, this is going to be a great sim, no question! I want to precise that  i'm grateful to all the founder guys that financially helped the team when it counted the most. It is normal that they should be rewarded for their support   (even if i had prefered the team to find anther way to do that).

 

Anyway i will purchase 3 copies (one for me, one for my bro, and a last one for a team mate) instead, when the game will be released.

Because then i still will have a choice to use them when others won't, and i think this makes the difference. But it is just me.

 

I also thought about preordering but only play with the final released version. It will depend on my ability to have patience   (it will be hard given how great the sim already looks).

Making something permanently inaccessible to newcomers isn't a gift to the founders, it's a punishment to the newcomers. I don't want newcomers to be punished, and I don't think potential newcomers will much like the sound of that either. These are the people we're going to be playing with five years down the line if the game succeeds; do we really want to start building up resentment from the start? A lot of the old IL2ers I play with are worried that 777 is going to take equipment access in a poor direction, be that through nickle-and-diming purchase schemes or something like this. It's not exactly encouraging.

 

Possible compromise: make them Founder-only in ranked games, but let custom missions and servers make everything (or nothing, or maybe even arbitrary combinations of equipment) available to everyone.
