I'll add my voice to the "Where's the runway at" group. Had just taken off last night and had to make an emergency return to base. I could not see the base till I fought it out the side of my eye to the left. It would seem to me that perhaps the base or its perimeter would be a lot more defined, i.e. dirty looking from vehicle traveling. And thus perhaps more visual from the air.

Its ridiculously hard for me to see the runways even on final and to spot them from a distance is just not possible.

Do the real approach. Make a pattern over the field and use your compass to line up on the final.

P.S. Youtube clip what you posted is from 20. 10. 2014. Maybe it is secret for you but is 01. 03. 2015. Game was changed between this dates.

Err, hasn't it been pretty much confirmed that the video was shot with all the helps activated?

As in simplified physics and everything. IIRC some folks recreated it and everything.

 

There was a whole thread about it that went south when some folks started randomly insulting users.

I take your point, but prior to the updated textures you could at least get a visual of the runway. At times they are almost invisible and in almost all the other current flight Sims runways are visible most of the time. I don't know why the

Devs decided to make the change tbh. I like a challenge, but it has made the landing process from a visual aspect for me disappointing. I'm not asking for neon signs etc. I just hope that a future patch sorts this out i.e puts them back how they were.

I got lost looking for runways yesterday, so gave up for awhile and flew a Spit in CLOD I found the runway very easily ;)

I have the same problems. Lowering Anti-Aliasing to 2 improved it, but the stutters are not completely gone.

same here on micro stuttering pluse im sure that it is a lot harder to see  contacts

Dont buy flaps damages?

 

In some planes ( 109?) flaps can be jammed in some planes there is information that flaps jammed but still you could close them?

 

Only gear damage i found at high speed is gear covers.

same with me could not do it in 109 diving at 700 and yak at 600

2. cannot see runways! - agree with other posters, need some "traffic" markings/discolouration, airfield miscellany

I have only tried this version once but yeah I did notice that the airstrip was less visible. I was using the other map so thought that might be it. In any case that's what I found myself doing, paying more attention to the compass on the circuit.

Silk? BF rather that use the elevator he enters stol, almost turns kkkkk somersault, is moving as if he had no rudder ....
Is that noise wings the same wind in biplanes. simulation ta away until the 1946 Cliffs and we talk, then DCS World is 1000 years ahead,
 
What wrong investment in that game, empty servers, it is clear rejection yet of the game .....

Do you own BoS? I don't see a bar underneath your user name.

He does, but like him I have no bar as I got the standard edition as a present then upgraded with the premium aircraft. He has 0 flight time according to his stats though, which is interesting :unsure:

I have only tried this version once but yeah I did notice that the airstrip was less visible. I was using the other map so thought that might be it. In any case that's what I found myself doing, paying more attention to the compass on the circuit.

I do hope that the Devs make the runways just a little easier to see in the next patch but in the meantime its compass time. It's a shame because before the texture changes I think the runways were just fine, not glaring obvious but at least they were visible.

That would only really be appropriate for operational areas that had ground-based radar and thus the ability to vector fighters to a particular airfield, which was pretty rare on the Eastern Front. Otherwise, just rely on the radio homing equipment that some planes have to get to your home airfield.

I still couldn't see the runways! ;)  Seriously though, a very nice video. 

Looking at pictures of ski pistes next to areas of undisturbed snow the difference in texture and reflection does seem rather marked, and that is without any staining from smoke, fuel. I expect this is just an unintended result of the new snow textures?

I think you maybe right.

Are you are referring to this?

Because if you are then the answer is yes. I have played about with these setting a fair bit but I have noticed now and again some undesirable effects with clouds if the values are set too high. The clouds appear to suffer from a slowdown when viewing the terrain from above the cloud base. This is hardly noticeable when these values are in the default setting.  I really hope this is sorted soon because it was fine before. I love a lot of the things that the Devs have done with the new patch and I thank them for their hard work, but nearly invisible runways is not much fun :unsure:

I saw the airfield you were landing at. And to be clear to anyone reading our "I Can't Find The Runway" comments, I don't think we're looking to change a great game in any dramatic way. While appreciating all the hard work 1CGS has put into this great simulation, we're just looking for a good compromise.

While appreciating all the hard work 1CGS has put into this great simulation, we're just looking for a good compromise. Chief

It's just that, were all running different hardware, so your res/view may be different?  No idea what that is, have I missed a post or something?

 

Hmm, it's the compromise I'm worried about?

Dear Devs,

I have requested a Dserver account over a week ago and would like to know how much longer it will be. Its a great asset to the game to be able to make use of the Dserver

 

In fact I may have sent 2 requests because I thought I did something wrong after waiting a few days as you indicated

Thanks, LeutnantZot I'll remember that for next time :) Did you hear any new sounds? like when the wingmans rounds where hitting his target?  Never noticed that before. The oxygen mask breathing sound is the best Ivé heard so far!. I think great sound makes such a difference in respect to immersion.

Unfortunately with 1.09 not only AF are much worse visible but also planes are worse visibile again against air.  I set quite good planes visibility at 1.08 and with 1,09 planes beacome again less visibile against air.

The Question is: Would any of these examples impair vision?

Without treading on chiefs toes, if you check the position of the airfield from the mini map you can see that the runway is barely visible and I have only moments before taken off.

I have turned all the markers off and have turned back towards the general direction of the runway but for the life of me  see nothing to indicate a runway.

This would require, that mission builders for MP put in at least one beacon...

I set the time to 10am with clear weather. I have also played about with depth of field settings and it doesn't seem to make much difference tbh. The resolution in the shots is 1080 x 1920 but I have also adjusted this higher and lower. I have the same issues playing on a 42' (106.68cm)  or a 24' (60.96cm) monitor. It's a real shame because prior to 1.09 finding the runways visually was fine and not over the top.  The shot where I'm taking off is the most telling because you can see from the mini map that I am hardly any distance from the runway and its virtually invisible. I seriously hope that this issue is addressed in a future patch.

 

I really like this game very much and appreciate all the work the Devs are putting into it, but this has become a real problem for me and is taking a lot of the enjoyment out of flying (at least landing!) this wonderful sim :(
