Agree - didn't  vote for this skin because too much text didn't look good imo. But the single words looks real good now.

wow.

looks like none of the votes were wasted. Zargos - I'm with you on this one.

"Comrade"? Please...

Good night footage though.

The original (archaic) meaning of the Russian version of this term (товарищ, tovarishch) from Old Turkic tavar ishchi, meant something like "business companion" or "travel (or other adventure) mate", deriving from the noun товар (tovar, i.e., 'merchandise'). In the late 19th century Russian Marxists and other leftist revolutionaries adopted tovarishch (abbreviated tov.) as a translation of the words for "Comrade" which were used as a form of address in international (especially German)Social Democracy and in the associated parts of the workers' movement. For instance, one might be referred to as Comrade Plekhanov or Comrade Chairman, or simply as Comrade. After the Russian Revolution, translations of the term in different languages were adopted by Communists worldwide. As a result, even though many other socialists would continue to use "Comrade" among themselves (e.g., German and Austrian social-democrats and, for a long time, members of the BritishLabour Party), it became most strongly associated in public consciousness with "Soviet-style" Communism of the Marxist-LeninistStalinist and Trotskyist varieties. This is exemplified in its mocking use in stereotypical portrayals of the Soviet Union in Cold War films and books.

In the early years of Soviet power in Russia, the Bolsheviks used "Comrade" when addressing or referring to people assumed sympathetic to the revolution and to the Soviet state, such as members of the Communist party (and originally of other pro-revolution leftist formations such as the Left SR) and people from the "working masses". The more neutral republican form of address was "Citizen". Accordingly, supporters of the White movement in the Russian Civil War would use "Comrades" mockingly as a derogatory term for their enemies – although at the same time, the various socialist anti-Bolshevik forces such as the Socialist Revolutionaries and the Mensheviks also used "Comrade" among themselves.

By the mid-1920s, the form of address "Comrade" became so commonplace in Soviet Union that it was used indiscriminately in essentially the same way as terms like "Mister" and "Sir" are employed in English. That use persisted until the fall of the Soviet Union. Still, the original meaning partly re-surfaced in some contexts: criminals and suspects were only addressed as "Citizens" and not as "Comrades", and expressly refusing to address someone as "Comrade" would generally be perceived as a hostile act or, in Stalinist times, even as an accusation of being "Anti-Soviet".

The term is not used often in contemporary Russian society, but it is still the standard form of address in the armed forces and police, where officers and soldiers are normally addressed as "Comrade Colonel", "Comrade General", "Comrade Sergeant", or the like. The term is also used as part of idioms e.g., tovarishch po neschast'yu (fellow-sufferer, from German Leidensgenosse) or as a part of such words as tovarishchestvo (partnership) that do not associate with communism.

Well done, 1C.

Thanks for the update! That skin is cool!

And also the night action is great. I think the flares were done ok. People were saying they were too bright, but flares did that on a dark night.

I think people were talking about the signal flares vs flares to light up the sky. If you watch the movie Titanic they have the signal type flares, that don't produce light.

But they have the ones that light the crap out the night and those ones are bright like in BOS demo.

I guess we don't have to mind the complaints coming, like the comrade situation or the too perfect lettering. The Luftwaffe has perfect spirals on the nose cones. They didn't have computers to do perfect lettering, they used painter's tape / duct tape to bust out perfection.

Shoot look at Da Vinci, his stuff blows away the CG art on deviant art. ANd it was hundreds of years before the pc.

C'mon guys complain about something legit.

"Oh what do you mEAN! I have to PAY for this game!! What? This car is built wrong! You have to put gas in it!!. What! you mean I have to sit in this movie theater! THat's a glitch!" . "THis forest sucks! I can't see anything because those trees are in the way! This coffee is lame! It's hot!!. This monitor is broken! It doesn't have a black and white feature but, an old junk TV made in the 50's does!!"

Seriously some of you are making humanity look bad. Put down something useful mang . . .

We haven't even arrived at the rivet counting or the "CHARTSESES!" complaints yet.

I can't wait to start testing/playing it. Everytime I research something related to this game I start to get twitches and cold sweats. I need my fix!

When I watch this I just sit there and repeat to myself "How can they do that? How can they do that?" it is like they are gods and creating the world all over again. Amazing!

. . .

I don't need you to tell me what is legit or not regarding skins. Your opinion isn't more important than anybody's.

What is even the point of discussing or voting on skins if it is prohibited by your Highness to comment on a rather glaring error, namely lettering straight out of a Photoshop typeface collection from the 2010's on a plane skin supposedly from the 1940's?

To anybody with just a smidgen of visual/historical sensitivity it looks glaringly out of place as a triangular ejection-seat stencil would have looked on the Il-2.

Oh, but sorry for commenting, you explained that it wasn't legit. Hope to get a shortlist from you about the subjects we allowed to comment on...

Looking really great.  I hope they model the black exhaust smoke in the 109.  I've read that allied pilots could tell when 109 pilots pushed the throttle to the max because they could see the exhaust belch a dark cloud of smoke from the stacks.

Looks great!  Thank goodness for the Russians or we would have no serious flight sims to play!  Can't wait for release.

In the Live Stream I heard you guys talking about weather circumstances during wintertime in Stalingrad.

Maybe this weather info of the Red Army Military Situation Reports will help:

Any plans for making a custom skin for a 109?

I would try if I had the template !

:P

I was wondering what the whole fuss is about... Oh man! This whole 'comrade' thing is gonna make some people here in Poland pissed. Calling somebody "towarzyszu" borders with being ironic in some places to being plain offensive in others. :)
