Developer Diary, Part 87 - Discussion

I only have standard edition + the 190. I dont care at all, everything id want to use is unlocked and if i fancy trying bombers someday, ill grind those out learning how during offline campaign play anyway.

Its really not a big deal, its not like you are denied access unless you fork over 40 dollars and even then, its not a mortgage payment.

Like all good things, they come in time. I sincerley wish all are in good health, with out it we don't have much...

She or he is not a real player she or he has no joystick....

This is true :) , where is the joystick? Thank you senseispcc, good to see a sense of humour :salute:

Looking forward to the new maps. Especially Autumn for some reason... I think that will be exciting. I'm hoping that future development will also include some aircraft types that fit well into the Summer and Fall scenarios. I'll be pretty happy with that and hopefully the mission editor lets us do some cool stuff without too much of a learning curve.

If Fall looks anything like it does in my home state, there could be some amazing aerial views of the woodlands. Unless they model it after the leaves have fallen. I'll keep my fingers crossed it's more of the vibrant Fall colors

So if we activate unlocks will that also carry over to any future planes added?  Sorry if I missed this being answered already.

It is a moot point for me since I just followed my own advice and just got the unlocks done but I think this move should have been done for all founders.. Premium or Standard.. All those who cared enough to buy in early. That not being the case I still think a good move would be to just have a sale for the next few days...  I see no problem with keeping the skins locked.

Skins till locked, Booo, Hiss, Hisss, Booooooooooo !!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

I think its all a bit muddled now, its such a pity , I would at least recommend giving silver founders the unlocks for free, other than that happy with the news,i think silver founders had a vote when we were asked should all get weapon modifications along time ago.

Many thanks for the unlocks & for the variations in maps.

I spend most of my time off line in QMB  - fighter against bombers, or lone bomber against a few fighters.

Now gives me a few more options.

To the wingers about not receiving the unlocks who joined later - I like a good many others, paid for an unfinished, in developement flight sim that so could easily have folded losing money I had paid into it. Why shouldn't we be the ones that took a chance from the onset be rewarded?

Others have only joined on a finished product, after all the investment & work was done.

Just my thoughts   :P

PS - can we start on the topic of a flyable JU52 now?

Unlocking stuff for some but not others is just wrong... just my thoughts.

Here was a golden opportunity as a first step to get all people onside again...

Perhaps a fair compromise between "Premium" and "Standard" editions could be all skins and unlocks for "Premium", all unlocks but grind for skins for "Standard". Just my thoughts.

You and I both. I couldn't care less about the Official skins being that the unofficial skins that other users are creating better fit my needs.

I just want my free Bordkanone.  ;)

Unlocking stuff for some but not for others? Sounds like paying for Premium vs Standard to me.

The "standard" preorder customers were thrown under the bus with this one. Such a shame and it shows the mentality behind the actions. It's all about the minimum damage control.

Easy on the drama. They can still unlock things if they wish. For me, I might have added all preorders to the "all unlocks"group, but equally, the prmium members paid for premium, so I can see why they might get extra features.

The difference between premium and standard was explained in the release, changing things now, to widen the gap between the "value" of this two versions, is in a way  breach of contract. The "value" of the standard version dropped quite a bit after this announcement, don't you think?

At least the preorder standard customers should have gotten the unlocks as well, if not all standard customers up to now.

~S~ Everyone,

It's over. Accept the decision, and move on.

Blah-de-blah-blah-blah, is going no where. No where.

"Monday Morning Quarterbacking" is not going to change the outcome at this point.

The world is not fair, it works in tiers, you choose, and then take the hits for YOUR decisions.

Man up.

One could also mention that the standard preorder guys have already got more than they expected, given that some weapons mod are available to them that were originally supposed to go only to the premium members.

Don't get me wrong - I don't particularly care whether the premium or standard members get different stuff or not - but the traffic is not all one way. No doubt there are some premium members who are glad that they are getting something to acknowledge their higher contribution.

~S~ Everyone,

With updates pending, here is something that stands up to be sharing with others.

I thought I'd share this positive input, concerning TrackIR 5, and "Blackscreening".

The problem was solved by Repairing the software shown. Using Program Uninstall option of Control Panel, Programs and Features.

That is, Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 (Choose Uninstall, wait a few moments, then choose the Repair option when prompted).

The credit goes to the late "JT Dawg" (RIP), who reported this on the Cliffs of Dover forums, and for that, I am truly grateful. Thanks JT.

are you guys still on Win XP? because the newest .netFX no longer is 4.5.1 the latest versions are now win 7x64 and 8.1x64 "ASP.NET MVC 4 runtime". so your still running old "OS", software that is no longer supported, I know a lot of you guys are trying to push the envelope. but come on eventually your not going to be running any thing new soon.

That is complete [Edited] You man up. The reason the unlocks are now being given is because people who actually have  stood up and let the Devs know when they have screwed up. This has taken a longtime, but it is not fair for only part of 1c/777s' BOS Customer base to receive the unlocks. This is merely a ploy to make all the standard customers buy the extra 2 planes if they want the unlocks. We paid for all of this stuff up front, and this isn't the Devs being nice to us, this is the Devs finally acknowledging, without publicly admitting it, that they screwed up in the first place and that this is hurting their business. Whether they admit it or not, that is why this is happening. Furthermore, until they unlock all of the skins and bring back the Custom graphics and single player difficulty adjustments, they are still reining their control over their Customers desires because they feel they know better than their customers what their customers want. New maps, really nice, I mean that, it is really awesome, but  the rest of it is 1c/777 just trying to do damage control, and they are doing a half way job of it by not giving all unlocks and skins to all customers. They have a long way to go before I will even consider forgetting how they hamfisted the release of BOS  by killing the custom graphics adjustments, the difficulty adjustments, the locked skins and the absolutely awful Campaign. 1c/777 can right all of this and they know how  to right it, but it is just a question still of will they swallow their pride and Man Up make all of the corrections that BOS customers still want and have wanted since the debacle of the BOS release began. I suggest that you learn that standing up for yourself and what is right is Manning Up Sir, otherwise we are just a heard of cattle at the mercy of 1c/777.  1c/777 may be on the right track, but they have a long way to go to fix the makings of their own doings for the above mentioned reasons and win back the confidence of the bigger flight sim Community.  I am a patient man, but they will not see any endorsment nor another penny from me until they do what is fair and what is right. This is "Manning up" and stating the obvious.

Use spell check.  3000 since 20/1/2015.    Yea right, MMMMMMMMMMUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAA! okay, if you say so. I hope they all head over to MP, because it is quite lonely in there since BOSs release.

That will make a good size heard to control.

I think by debactle he means the response by the community, which has in turn lead to the 5.7 metacritic score and 6 steam score.

No one can say for certain that those scores would be higher if no unlocks and custom graphics were there from the get go. But it seems very likely that the scores would be higher and there would have been much less argument on the forums.

Removing stuff like the 16x acceleration only compounded the above issues.

I think for the most part his post is right. 777 is in need of better communication and pr, and a bit of humility on their part would go a long way.

I am glad that my post made you cheer up a bit.No need for doomsday drama. And yes,you are right,I did the calcualtion wrong. It is in fact only 1650 new members since 20.1.2015.What a tragedy :o:

LOL @ Brano. The difference between 3000 and 1650 is the difference between landing in SFO on the flight from Honolulu and joining Tom Hanks in the middle of the Pacific.

Sort of like the difference between the compelling sim for which we paid and the boring crap we received....with no ME to even try to make it fun.

I am convinced that there is a small cadre of folks who, no matter what this team did, these guys would find a reason to crap all over it and try to incite whatever discord or malcontent they could.. so they could go back to their cave and cackle about it saying..."Heee heee hee see what we did there...! Lets see what they do now...!"

Regardless to what any of us think about the recent concessions made by this team the truth of the matter is that concessions were made.. and for some of you folks to come here to pee all over that is disingenuous at best and bordering on trolling at worse. In the beginning the big beef was over unlocks of content... so they change that and now it is over unlocks of skins... for some... and it is not just the expression of displeasure but the manner in which it is done which makes me say that... These skins are a non issue. Be glad the content got released. When the ME and DS are released... and they will be... all this will become moot as far as the skins go. What will you folks have to beef about then? Granted IMO it could have been done differently and there are still things that can be done to smooth things out a bit.. but as of yet they are not being done. Truth be told I doubt they would still satisfy a small segment of this community.. and if presets and all things were unlocked tomorrow in a few weeks or sooner some of these folks would have something else on their plate to hold this team's feet to the fire for...

BladeMeister how about all those like myself and Bearcat that also stood up against UNLOCKS but choose not to get outspoken about the subject? Personally I'm glad the UNLOCK issue is over with what ever their (the Dev's) reason(s) were for doing it. At least for most of us anyway.

Good point.

It's all getting a bit boring, and to be honest it makes me want to not visit these forums any longer.

This is a real question. Please someone, truly, treat it as such:

Will the ME/FMB, whenever it is given to us (who did pay for it) allow creation of campaigns with some life?

Now that is the key question for me too, assuming that the stock SP campaign is not going to have major changes in philosophy and execution.

DCG for Il2 1946 and PWCG for RoF both do this, plus there are scripted campaigns for both, but in each case the core game already had features like pilot identifiers, unit designations and historic formations built in. BoS does not.  I am hoping that clever campaign designers will be able to get these features in, but the basic design may make it hard.

Indeed. I am optimistic that the delays are partly because they lost their programmer.. and partly because they wantr to make sure that they bring us the most functional ME they can but I believe that Jason has said pretty clearly that to get a Pat Wilson kind of thing with this we will need someone to step up.. if only Uber D and Crazy Scmidt and pat Wilson  could team up to do this.. Can you imagine.. I mean after all this is the 21st century.. with Skype and all... and high speed internet... if the stars could all align..

I can dream can't I?

I've flown a bit in the Operations server and it is pretty impressive so far. It was not populated with many humans but the bots were numerous and even dynamic - they reacted to the shift in the battle depending on what you did. Even as a solo Jabo I could cause re-inforcements to shift by bombing/strafing the snot out of a particular sector.  Frame rates were excellent. I have yet to see a large air battle over the large ground battle but I'm sure that will be stress tested as well. It's only a single scenario for comparision but I think the answer to your question is (probably) yes.

~S~ Everyone,

So, yeah, it's 2015 isn't it? Hasn't trolling gone out of fashion yet?

We've all read about this whole matter, retold, ad nauseam, by many members.

What more, of anything, does anyone left who has not re-stated the very same things seek to gain in it? You've won all that you will get.

Sure, you have unlocked the responses of many of us, who are happy enough to be patient, and let development come as it may, when it does.

Congratulations. Give yourself an achievement unlocked merit badge, or perhaps, splurge on an extra box of Hot Pockets, the next time you leave the basement.

At least I've learned that there's some modern Microsoft Software available for my Windows 7 64-bit machine by offering something constructive to the community.

I will take my half of the victory in that, and leave the rest of you vultures trolls mutants children to circle the drain of your own discontent, and enjoy my time again.
