The slowdown happened to me too (in mission 2), and the 1st mission still doesn't work.

Posted

The first mission shows the airfield from a distance and there is lots of activity, very cool, but it never changes the perspective and I can't get into the plane, ie cockpit mode.  Auto pilot doesn't work, I can't speed things up ... Nada.

Thanks for all the help everyone, installed, works like a champ, love the detailed airfields, now, off for some practice missions, flight training! Very cool!

Does it get you into the car that drives you to your aircraft?

I had the same problem when I manually placed the files. I deleted them and unzipped the download to the root BoS file as per the read me (that is easily misunderstood the way it is written) and all is well.

I get a quick outside shot that warps to the cockpit.  I thought people were joking about the car.

Hi Everyone,

I tried the Veteran 66 missions and it works. Amazing job.

Nevertheless I noticed something very strange in mission 2.

Even if my rig is not very powerfull (i7920 + GTX570) when I play mission 2 and the stukas and other Yaks are coming the game is a pure slide show... What is strange is that during the slide show the FPS are not so bad (I mean for my rig) they are around 40-45 fps...

What I mean is that the number of FPS does not match at all the in game experience which is like if I had less than 10 fps...

Can someone explain this? Is my CPU bottlemecking something or is is something else? I do not understand...

Another question I have and it is related to all other missions, if you want to play in full real and deactivate all the icons, technochat and all other things by pressin the H... You can no longer read the radio messages on the screen which is quite annoying... Is there any way to deactivate everything except the radio messages??

Thanks for your help!

And last the Veteran 66 missions give a good idea of what the FMB will allow and I am even more waiting for it.. It's impressive

You fly with Ikons on?

Switch it off you get some fps back.

It is a hart limit missions ;)

Thx for the very quick answer Veteran 66

Even with no icons... I have a slide show.. What is strange is that my FPS counter does not show too bas FPS.. I stay around 45-50 FPS... but the game is in slow motion...

I assume I have reached the limits of my rig...

Very nice work anyway!!!

For those who are having problems with the first mission and only see the airfield from above at mission start - This can happen when you don't have the file "Vulkan_an_Ahorn.bik" in the ...Missions\VeteranenMissions\Chir_Front\Media folder. Make sure you have unzipped all files into the correct folders.

I've done the first 3 missions. They start off fine but once I enter combat, the game seems to slow down to about 1/4 speed even though frame rate seems fine. Makes for a long flight home.

Guess its time to upgrade my aging rig as well.

I had no issues with the first two missions.

I'm excited to see what the FMB can do and this is just one example of the many that are going to come. With more time and more people working on them, this game will improve a lot!

I too suffer a bad slow down when there are a number of planes in the air, feels like I am flying in molasses even though the FPS are fine. I usually play on high settings and have suffered no issues before this.I turned everything down to the lowest settings I could , including resolution but the problem is still as bad, FPS are great though

I do realize my system is in need of a major upgrade but wasn't there some issues before (including with ROF) of the game engine not being able to handle large amounts of planes on screen at one time? I thought this was the reason there were not very planes in the air during the campaign that came with the game.

With a lot of folk having the same issue is this a pc limitation where an upgrade would fix it, or an engine issue where even with an upgrade there would still be this slowdown with a fair amount of planes in the air?

Mick. :)

Got it working with everyone's help here.  The key for me was just unzipping into the main BOS folder ... per the read me.  I was unzipping to BOS missions folder.

Very cool BTW!

Spoiler - "entering" in the Bf 109 video.

I had the same when I installed the Hotfix only ... if you have only 5 missions this is the case :-)

to all of you having the "slow down" issue please do the following, CTRL+ALT+DEL and open task manager then select performance tab leave the window open and then start the game. when the slow down starts minimize the game and see what your cores are doing along with your memory.

That Ju 52 is looking great!

I just wish the devs would include some static Ju 52s as ground objects as well. Just like with other aircraft. And while they are at it - La-5 and Fw 190 static objects could also be added? (all other aircraft have their static object equivalents except those two planes).

Maybe it's because the germans actually build and used a lot of cool shieeet? :)

I really hope devs decide to make Ju-52 flyable.

Just give it the same price like the premium aicrafts and let the money roll in :)

Hi eveybody. I have tried to try the missions. First I got the "not your account message", but reading this discusssion, I run it in offline and fine.

However, I must be doing something else wrong, right from the first mission and I would appreciate any help.

I get into the plane, start up, taxi to the runway and take off. All fine up to there. I also tell my swarm to follow me. They taxi to the runway and then they seem to do nothing, although they announce ready to take off.

Just now, I have circled the airfield for 10mins calling them to take off, but nothing happened.

Any ideas??

Many thanks.

If it's a problem (there are solutions suggested in the Veteran66 Campaign thread), maybe just try the version of mission one where you start on the runway!  ;)

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I have tried the runway version as well, but again problems. I take off, tell the swarm to follow, they start as well and then they either crash at take off, or brake the take-off run, or other peculiar things. I have tried it 3-4 times, always the same experience.....

Gregg66,

Start your plane and taxi to runway - but don't send any order for AI before takeoff.

Place you plane in the left side of runway, close  to windsock to leave space for AI because when they taxi  - one be one -  will announce "ready for take off" (individually) only if stop in right place (scripts/triggers are tricky).

After they announce the tower will send "clear for takeoff" - await the radio message and not only the flare - then take off quickly, or AI will run over you. :)

These missions SOUND interesting , and no offense but when I take off it's a bunch of endless flying with no action .Biggest difference for me - theres no waypoints . I can't tell where to go , can't find anything to shoot at . I'm a navigational noob I must admit . What's the trick to finding the enemy ?

Making the Ju 52 flyable would appeal to a large amount of people, i have always dreamed about flying transports in ww2 combat areas, theres something about limping a damaged transport with dozens of lives at stake, miles into stalingrad, to resuply the 6th army hugely appealing. Besides, flying transport planes in ww2 combat game hasn't been done before, at least as far as i know, and i believe it would draw more people in to play this game.

The Stalingrad Luftwaffe Airlift was a HUGE operation during the campaign, and if it wasn't for those transport pilots the Germans would have lost a lot sooner. So having missions that relate to the great Stalingrad airlift is very historically accurate.

If the devs aren't willing to make it flyable i would be glad to start a fundraiser to get some modders who can!

Here are some statistics about the stalingrad airlift.

Not spoil anything, but for a start AI JU-52's would be enough for me.

If flyable - great, but I doubt that it will be an aircraft many will spend more than a couple of hours in.

I would rather see the limited development resources used more flyable fighters.

As mater of curiosity ~1998 Warbirds Online allowed fly with Ju-52 and drop "suicidal" paratroopers commands.

Not sure, but think that the most ancient Air Warrior too. In this games the paratroopers had a purpose, capture the enemy field.
