Reflected Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Sometimes when I'm being attacked I push the stick forward, but it can cause an inverted spin (FW and 109) I can't seem to get out of. What is the trick? Thanks!
LLv34_Flanker Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 S! I got out of the inverted spin by luck I guess, but I think revving the engine between idle and full power did it.
I/JG27_Rollo Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 (edited) I think using the rudder in the (at least for me) counter-intuitive direction - need to try it out again sometime. Requiem has done a video about it some time ago... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hj3tiBtQz2s Edited October 28, 2014 by I/JG27_Rollo
Finkeren Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 There's a very simple 3-step process to get out of it: 1. Open canopy 2. Jump out 3. Pull chord 2
I/JG27_Rollo Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 That's the process for inverted spins below 1500m. Above that you may wanna try to save the crate.
=LD=Hethwill Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 1. Try to do as Requiem shows in the video. 2. Pray that it works. It is the normal procedure to get out of them, the great ( not! ) thing is that it won't every time so keep Finkeren's notes at hand.
Bearcat Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Chop throttle Opposite rudder Forward stick Drop flaps
FlatSpinMan Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 My only advice would be Step 1: Do not enter one.

What is the trick? Thanks! Instead of pushing the stick forward pull it all the way back and to the left put in full left rudder at the same time and do a snap roll. It will throw their aim off and make them fly right past you. I've used this tactic a lot when I can't shake an enemy.
AndyJWest Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Chop throttle Opposite rudder Forward stick Drop flaps Forward stick in an inverted spin? I don't think so...
Gort Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 During inverted spins, it is common to pick up the roll direction and input the wrong recovery controls. The eye will pick up the left roll and miss the right yaw for example. You want to apply rudder opposite the yaw direction, not the roll. Therefore, using the cockpit turn indicator to show the yaw direction is good advice. Upright or inverted, apply rudder opposite the turn needle.
Bearcat Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Forward stick in an inverted spin? I don't think so... Acckk!! I didn't see inverted! I just saw spin and tghought flat!! I don't think I have ever been in an inverted spin...

Pull chord What kind of chord progression would you recommend? Would A minor sus chord progression be dramatic enough when you are plummeting towards the earth? Church organ would suit the best, I suppose. (Sorry, it's a cheap shot, but I couldn't resist) Edited October 29, 2014 by PitbullVicious 1
AndyJWest Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Acckk!! I didn't see inverted! I just saw spin and tghought flat!! I don't think I have ever been in an inverted spin... I don't think any of the BoS aircraft will hold an inverted spin with neutral controls now (Requiem is actually holding into-spin rudder in his video) - the Bf 109 would in early versions, but I couldn't reproduce it later. Probably just as well, as it was very reluctant to recover: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QG6Yt8yfq8s Earlier thread on inverted spins: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/2485-bf-109-inverted-spin/?hl=%2Binverted+%2Bspin
