They (RRG Studios) can do nothing. The engine of the SIM is comming from DCS (Edge). So we will see what happen in the future. I'm afraid that the focus of this engine is not on MP air combat.

At the moment it is a real pain in DCS MP with the mustang. If there are 20 aircraft on the server and somebody shoots the fps drop to under 20fps. Absolutely unplayable now!!!

This is what I feared my friend, I have no real interest in flying against the computer (never say never though) no matter how realistic it is, I play to socialise with my online friends, it`s as much a part of the enjoyment as the game itself. No dedi-server and 20fps with 20 to 30 online doesn`t float my boat. DCS WW2 is tied to ED, so it is their shared problem imo, I`d like to see it solved if possible.

Ps there`s a new update of the 109`s finished cockpit, looks excellent.

New dev update on the Kickstarter site, 109 pit is looking sweeeeet!

The cockpit looks great. Maybe they can add a little bit of those reflections that can be seen on the gauges of the P 47 panel.

So I went to the DCS website and was surprised to see the announcement of the partnership with Eagle Dynamics and Oleg and others to create a WWII sim with them, when they are working on this IL2 title (BoS) at the same time. What's the deal with that? Is it unrelated to 1C Game Studios or something?

Note: Sorry if this is old news, but I have been living under a rock when it comes to flight simulations ever since I went to college. I used to constantly play them as a kid growing up, but have been quite busy getting a degree and obtaining a PPL and instrument rating!

Nothing to do with 1CGS.

Oh okay. So are you saying that Oleg isn't working with 1CGS on this title???  Even though IL2 was his baby wasn't it?

Oleg left before the release of Cliffs of dover, Luthier was.........fired/resigned? when Cliffs was cancelled, neither have anything to do with  BoS, 1C now own the IL2 franchise and have teamed up with 777 to form 1CGS to create BoS under that franchise.

Wow! Okay that explains a lot. Thanks for the update.

I don't think Oleg is actively involved (if at all) besides that video. It was pretty much clear he is only interested in the project if there is money.. and the kickstarted wasn't that successful IMHO.

The KS got past the post and got the stretch goal 262. Not bad going I think, everything after that was a bit to much of a stretch in anyone's opinion. I don't know about level of invovlement but it was a painful thing to watch that video. Oleg is cool don't be mean.

I think they reached the kickstarter goal and even pass further.

That's a very good thing imo (i sadly missed it) and i will follow very close this devlopment.

If they can give us a complete WW2 sim involving European 1944 theater and matching the already existing fantastic DCS P51 standarts, it will be the ultimate WW2 simulation for me.

But still remains some important factors to be cleared up.

Oleg is heavily involved in the DCS project - I interviewed him for SimHQ.

But this thread is for 'other 1C games' so DCS is off topic.

Moved to FS.

Very very very Nice!! One of my favorite radial engined plane in ..ahem.. War Thunder.

Nice, but it needs to be scuffed up a bit. No piece of military hardware is going to look that pristine past day 1 of it being built.

Done!

The cockpit looks really photorealistic. Wow!

I backed it because I love WW2 sims. I was not impressed by the KS and Luthiers PR, but, well everybody needs a second chance and to have another combatsim on the horizon is great.

Imagine that was a North Africa map, then imagine hunting Afrika corps columns in those dunes and ripping them to shreds with the big'ol cannons slung under a Hurri.

We think alike, that would be amazing  :salute:

The desert map from FB was my favourite

Actually I was think 109 and 190 :P

Yeah blowing 109's and 190's to pieces is good too.... :P

Man, that looks good. I don't see any texture 'quilting' and the topography is very nice. Is 'Edge' the reason that this Las Vegas map looks so next gen? I mean, all the other DCS maps look like old IL2 1946 maps, but this one is an obvious step up in quality. Do these pictures actually represent the quality of DCS WWII?

Why have they made a map of Nevada?

That's what it looks like from the link by Krupi, under the desert pic.

Nellis air force base where A-10's do a lot of training I think.

Posted

Yes, it`s supposed to be used as training area. Not a bad idea at all, even if I would have preferred  a new war theatre. But anyway, we will get one with DCS WW2.

That picture is from terrain builder I think. But as far as I know EDGE is superior graphic rendering engine when they get it for customer market (currently using older version for professional simulators). But as far as object count and texture quality goes I think it's pretty safe to assume they can make really detailed representation of Normandy if they have enough time and manpower.

That picture is from ED's Nevada map, it's still in WIP and lighting needs some fixing etc.

Can't wait to get to kick those yanks with my Me262!

Correct, Nellis and the surrounding area is a very big training ground not just for American pilots, but also foreign air forces as well. It's where Red Flag is held, for instance.

Some pics taken by a good friend a mine a few years back at Nellis: http://shotbyme.at/redflag08.html

100% wrong. Just wrong. ED are just as aware of the huge importance of the MP aspect of the sim as the BOS devs.

I'm really, REALLY interested by the ME 262 flying experience, using the DCS standarts.

I remember last time i was in the 262 cockpit, it was with "old" IL2 many years back, and i enjoyed it so much!

But i don't catch something...It's gonna be 1944 Normandy focused map, right?

Of what i know, no ME 262 were flying there...even if Germans high authorities (mainly Hitler btw) thought about using the 262 as a bomber to help rejecting Overlord, it never happened... so why this plane for the Normandy map?

Maybe they are looking forward for a 1945 BoB (battle of Berlin) map?...

Posted

I'm not sure why there 262 is being built for the Normandy map. The Fw190D and Bf109K were not there either (perhaps an Ardennes map would have been better?) I think it's just Luthiers way, as he frequently makes plans without considering all angles.
