VeryOldMan Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Beautiful stuff, Im craving this new Sturmo like never before. Nice 3D, nice materials, amazing cockpit My only statement, globally, is: maybe the snow (around the plane and in the runway area) is too clean and white. Gasoline, vehicles and personnel should have Made it quite dirty. Keep the good job up guys! pff.. you underestimate german paranoia with organization
79_vRAF_Friendly_flyer Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Gasoline, vehicles and personnel should have Made it quite dirty. Keep the good job up guys! That depends really. If it is cold enough and a bit windy, snow drifting along the ground would quickly cover up any dirty snow, and the low temperature would stop it from melting. At the first calm, sunny day, all the dirt would very quickly thaw through though.
=BKHZ=Furbs Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Outstanding.... ! It looks like the tires are in snow even though they are on concrete.. Do you think the cockpit shake would be as pronounced IRL considering the way the body involuntarily kind of cushions the eyeballs .... It looks great though.. Can't wait for the finished product. I think this is more the frame shaking and not your eyes shaking, if that makes sense.

BFsSmurfy Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Didn`t a lot of Luftwaffe pilots have dogs as mascots?????, in that case the sim lacks realism as I didn`t see any yellow snow!!!!! Joking aside this is alpha, can you imagine how fantastic the release date product is going to be. Get on TS and talk to the man if you have any doubts about pre-ordering, he answers everything you can throw at him, can`t say fairer than that.
Uufflakke Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Didn`t a lot of Luftwaffe pilots have dogs as mascots?????, in that case the sim lacks realism as I didn`t see any yellow snow!!!!! Listen again to the posted YouTube vid at the previous page and scroll to 8min30sec untill 9min30sec and you definately hear a dog barking.
=BKHZ=Furbs Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Zak, is there any chance of the utube vid with english subs being uploaded in 1080 instead of 720?
Freycinet Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Karaya, thx for the upload. Looking forward to the subtitled vid tomorrow. It is going to be a long night Zak! Just want to tell you guys that doing that much subtitling from one day to the next is considered quite exceptional in the translator business, so let us all appreciate that it is being done so fast. The 109 F looks fabulous. What especially blew me away was the subtle bumpmapping on the wings and on the terrain. Makes both the plane and the ground look fabulous. Work of art for sure. Also, for the first time I feel good about the cockpit detailing. I thought the heavy front canopy struts looked very good from inside the cockpit. Nice tubing and welding...
Zak Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 Zak, is there any chance of the utube vid with english subs being uploaded in 1080 instead of 720? Sorry but no. We streamed and recorded 720p and 30 pfs this time and we'll keep it this way for some time. Later there'll be full hd videos for sure.
leitmotiv Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 thanks for upload Karaya ( if i see you in chute i won't shoot ) , stream was good as last time, can't wait to see what was talked about during show on russian 1
Recon Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Here's the video: Might still take a while to process as the upload literally just finished (a >2GB file after all), once its done it should go up to 1080p! +1 thanks!
Heywooood Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Hey guys, Thanks for hanging out with me watching the feed. Even better turn out than last time. I always enjoy hearing your questions. We covered a lot of ground. Thanks again! And I apologize for the slow start. I had just woken up. Jason another California slacker! looks good in the 109 'pit Jason...I can't wait to fly it in the New IL2
Skoshi_Tiger Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 It all looks very nice! Thanks for the video and hope the development goes smoothly.
FuriousMeow Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 From the feed... <photo deleted to save Bandwidth> That does look amazing. As does every flight in RoF, so no suprise BoS looks better. I do wonder about the 109 in that type of snow though, I seem to recall seeing photos of mechanized units that would pack down the snow for the runways in photos for the the VVS and LW. Unpacked snow would certainly be terrible runways. Just an observation, I turn down the shaders from maximum to high in RoF because of that reason - the lumpy ground looks great but at the same time, no plane could take off from that. Amazing screenshot either way!
kestrel79 Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Update looked great, can't wait for the English version tomorrow. I really dug the sound of that thing. To me that sounded like the best sim 109 I've heard. Can the dudes in the Teamspeak please switch to a push to talk mode though? I think we heard phones, dogs barking, wives yelling, kids, heavy breathing.

6./ZG26_Emil Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 If it was my dog that was barking you'd all jump out of your skin. He's only a Labrador but sounds like something far more ferocious. He's particularly fond of terrifying the postman :D
HagarTheHorrible Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I've said it before, but I'll say it again, I really liked the pilot and pilot movement. It, for some reason, seems to give the whole aircraft an added sense of believability and not just some sterile computer generated object. I really, really, really hope that the A.I pilots, avatar, whatever you whant to call them, behaves in a believable way to threat situations, or strains to look around the nose of the aircraft when taxying etc (Like in that real, modern IL2 vid). Sure it's not essential to the game but, it just makes the whole game come alive (just before you kill them) to think "Hey there's someone in that cockpit". For me at least (realistic looking pilot), it's one of those qualative differences that seems to set BoS above what has gone before, even if it's really only a silly little detail.

The first time I saw the pilot animation giving the thumbs up I actually thought it was amateur CGI. The other thing I've found amazing about ROF is the way the aircraft bob about in the wind and the general movement of them when being put through turns/rolls etc. Hope that will be the same as well as the pilot animations. ST_ami7b5 Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Excellent! And very interesting and informative TS3 session with Jason.
csThor Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 From the feed... Nice skin. Too bad it's a year off. That modification (overpainting the topside camo with RLM 70 or 71) was common for fighter aircraft based in Romania in 1941 (to masquerade as Romanian aircraft). It fell out of use in late 1941 and probably disappeared completely when III./JG 52, II./JG 77 and III./JG 77 were reequipped with new material in late 1941 or early 1942. Not that this matters much, but ... Just saying. 2
JtD Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 That explains why it matches Steinbatz' aircraft so well. It's a 1941 F-4.
csThor Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 For Stalingrad all of JG 52 was long past the F-4. I. and III. Gruppe received their G-2 in late July, II. Gruppe and Stab in early August. In the timeframe specified for BoS only III./JG 3 still flew a few Bf 109 F-4 and even they already had a number of G-2 then. 2
Mac_Messer Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I really like the way you guys avoided the swastica thing. Far better than nothing or just some generic logo.
J4SCrisZeri Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I hope you guys shoot alot in the next livestream: shooting, damaging something, showing us tracers and bullets, that kind of stuff!
PA-Sniv Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 (edited) I hope you guys shoot alot in the next livestream: shooting, damaging something, showing us tracers and bullets, that kind of stuff! Jason said yesterday that those effects were still placeholders at the moment and that they wouldn't show them untill they are perfect... even though Loft pulled the trigger right after! I think we heard phones, dogs barking, wives yelling, kids, heavy breathing. At one point we had a Russian fella join in who appeared to be worse for drink and was definitely in the wrong channel, reminded me of a time in TS on UK-Dedicated 3 when a guy joined TS and asked where we all were, we told him we were in K4 numpad 3 and he insisted he was in there and couldn`t see us..........he was in K4 numpad 3 on a different server!!!!!!!!
VeryOldMan Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I hope soon I can see footage of the FW-190 i bought with the premium edition
Freycinet Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Props to the Russian fellow for managing to get on Teamspeak while both he and his dog were barking drunk!
OBT-Psycho Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 (edited) is it just my damned imagination or could we hear the pilot breathe while blacking out from high G? if so, this is clearly a nice touche, both for the sims and for the interaction between dev and the community! remember the poll about this particular thing? ^^ Edited August 30, 2013 by OBT-Psychopoak

OBT-Psycho Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 yep, I know... but it is a common thing in filght sim world I guess. It's a nice touch though, that put emphasis to some details that make you feel in the brain of the pilot. It will certainly lead to some comment on how over or under represented all this features are, but it will be nothing compare to what is to come. Wait until the release of the alpha to see the beginning of the Great "FM/DM are Porked" war!
VeryOldMan Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I claim dibbs on the Fw190 bar thread first post!
OBT-Psycho Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 DAMNED!! I wanted that one so, dibbs on the "the 109 is über compared to VVS", cause you know... Lagg...
Wulf Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I really don't want to sound like an overly excited schoolboy but I thought the cockpit looked absolutely 'fantastic'. There is a very real sense of depth to the instruments and surfaces, the whole thing was as close to 3D as I've ever seen in a flight sim. Even little details like the latches and the attachments for the head armour were just so beautifully executed. And the vibration is simply spot-on in my view. Even allowing for the fact that the images came via a feed you really had the impression that you were in an aircraft. Oh yeah, and the terrain; I thought the terrain was just great. The reflections off the snow looked amazing. This is very exciting!
Roast Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Around 11.00 someone asks if a picture [or ashtray] in the cockpit. It isn't that important but could that be an nice option? Regarding the ashtray, someone [Jason?] mentions that he's from Colifornia, so he is forbidden to smoke. So now we have swastika's forbidden in some countries, and ossible ashtrays not allowed in others! And surely a patch to solve such 'problems'
