Rjel Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I can't really believe the tone some of u guys are using.... No doubt. Some people here are far too self involved and feel far too entitled. Threatening to stop playing a game and leave it? Go ahead. Nobody else cares. BoS isn't everything I want either. But it's EXACTLY what I was told it was going to be. Over and over. I'll play it as it grows. One question, if anyone cares to answer, in the first campaign "film", does the film stutters every few seconds or is it just on my system? The audio doesn't pause so I'm assuming it's a stylistic presentation. 2
dburne Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 This! I may come off as an ass stomping my feet and throwing a hissy fit. But there are those of us who only play on line, never play single player in any game. I think on line "locks" should be set by the server side. Sure in single player you're going to start at well the start and work your way up but on line should be different. If I don't grind I will not have the same weapons or skins on line that others have. I think that is wrong. I can hear the "grind to win" post now. But it is what it is Well speaking from the single player viewpoint, at least in my case, I could care less about having to grind - earn XP - to unlock things. This has no appeal to me at all. I want good in-depth quality campaign gameplay, that is what will keep my interest in BOS. One question, if anyone cares to answer, in the first campaign "film", does the film stutters every few seconds or is it just on my system? The audio doesn't pause so I'm assuming it's a stylistic presentation. Played very smooth for me , no visual or audio stutters at all.
SYN_Haashashin Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 As far as I can see Eagles Nest are up, also the airquake servers(wich has players though, but not my cup of tea).... Airquake servers are official ones, so no surprise they are up. About the Eagle Nest been up, maybe they did send the dserver allready but most probably our guys are enjoying the saturday afternoon out so I have no news about it. No doubt. Some people here are far too self involved and feel far too entitled. Threatening to stop playing a game and leave it? Go ahead. Nobody else cares. BoS isn't everything I want either. kaboki Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 (edited) Yep Eagles Nest is up ( a popular server), currently has three on. However it is early in that part of the world... Useally I find alot more people on at this time expecially on a weekend, it's the server I mostly use and it has never been this quiet. Not everyone playing there is based in US even if the server is US based. Im from Europe myself... But I will check in later too see, but I suspect the MP numbers will get affected until everyone has grinded up their favorite unlocks... And even the airquake servers isn't as busy as they useally are, infact most servers are quite low populated. But hey, maybe everyone is "enjoying" the "GREAT" campain and does care about MP anymore.... Edited October 4, 2014 by kaboki
FlatSpinMan Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 They should make posible to play campaign in some kined of coop with 2-4 frends, and old and new kids would be pleased and even maybe do trainings like a squad in campaign and do proper mission. This was mentioned as a desirable thing by Loft in a recent vid IF the intial product sells well. I'd love this, and I'm not an onliner at all.
1./JG42Nephris Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Isnt it possible to keep unlocks off private servers? I mean you cant earn XP in MP anywasy, so there is no reason to make a server "rated".
Yakmaster Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 This was mentioned as a desirable thing by Loft in a recent vid IF the intial product sells well. I'd love this, and I'm not an onliner at all. Ok i miss that one then, then it seams they know what they are doing, in mine opinion this would be big plus for game
SYN_Haashashin Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 All servers I see up are Russian. None of the usual servers are up, such as Eagle Nest or LD server. Lets see when we get the dserver files, happily I will have enought time to get my favorite planes armed up.
FlatSpinMan Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Can I just reiterate that our perspective on this, as experienced Early Access users, is different from how people who buy the game after official release will see things. We've had months to fly around and get used to things. someone brand new to the game, and more so, brand new to the genre, army find the brief tutorials and incentive based missions quite rewarding.

Adamfp3 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 This whole unlocking stuff in campaign is horrific. I played three missions past the tutorial and im already bored out of my mind and have gained nothing towards unlocks. The thought of having to do this 10+ times for each aircraft is excruciating. Until such a time as I don't have to grind through a single player campaign to unlock skins and mods for planes, through a purchase system like ROF or whatever im out. It has totally killed my enthusiasm for the game. I don't have the time, energy or want to do this. Not to mention the fact that the multiplayer has been been severely effected by this design decision for multiple reasons. Good Luck with your upcoming air battles pilots. Salute. 4
IRRE_Belmont Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Don't try to use the 111 during the campaign, it is bugged , and you will not be able to quit the game

Exactly the way I feel too, unfortunently Im such a sim junkie, and in lack of better WW2 sims I have to put up with this. But Im gonna think twice before I buy any addon planes... Some may throw their hands up and roll their eyes but IMO that was the best way, download a free game with basic planes then buy only what you want or need. As a bomber pilot I don't need many fighters but over the years I have bought them all. If it was that way and with a good single player campaign it would have been better. My ROF squad has grown because guys who fly other games with us could download it, see what its like then they can buy the planes they want if they liked it. The Eagle's Nest server is no more as of 7:24am Pacific. It was fun while it lasted. As in gone for good?
dburne Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 (edited) The Eagle's Nest server is no more as of 7:24am Pacific. It was fun while it lasted. Sad news, and I don't even do multiplayer. I know it was very popular though, and I knew if I ever decided to delve into multiplayer, that would have been the server I would have chosen. Plus my pings were the best on that server as well. Guest deleted@30725 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Since I knew the campaign was coming I played without upgrades and have still had a load of fun. The game is mostly about being good at flying and in mp about being good at tactics and out flying your target. Thankfully you don't get given a broken plane to upgrade. I guess I don't really care about the unlocks because I live in an area where the prime time to play gives me poor internet so having a high ping is more important than missing 2 cannons from the 109. If I can fly better than the other person then all the unlocks in the game are not going to give him the edge. I can see how this will polarise people though. They want it all and they want it now. I want to be an ace in this game. Where is the unlock for that.
senseispcc Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Could you see this xp system like a representation of your appreciation by your commanders (Soviet or German is the same) this appreciation that give you some advantages in your front pilot live?! Could this be possible?! Sorry but in the game there are no leaves to see you loved ones! So because you are better and xp proves it you can chose your aircraft, aircraft modifications (armaments, skins, etc.) does this not feel realistic and logical in a GAME?
MACADEMIC Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 (edited) Just as a reminder, it's not even my idea, but if it bores some of you so much to unlock in SP campaign, get a neighbor's kid to do it for you and pay him $5. You'll make him happy, he may even become so good he'll shoot you out of the sky one day, and you'll have your unlocks. :D MAC Edited October 4, 2014 by MACADEMIC 2

Thinking about it a bit more, this might all have been part of an elaborate game development strategy, to force the old veterans out of their mancaves and let some new uninitated kids take control for a bit. And as we all know, once you're exposed to that virus... MAC
GhostLine06 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I just wish that I could play. Stupid first tutorial has a bug where if you try to land and crash (as I did) you don't get enough xp to unlock the 2nd tutorial mission. Ugh. Insert Spiderman behind a desk meme here. "All the other early acces players are out flying and I an just sitting here mastur...". You get the idea.
Dakpilot Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 The bug is acknowledged hopefully a fix is on the way sooner than later...I wonder if you have a fast internet if a delete and re-install would help or the progress is still kept? Cheers Dakpilot

Trooper117 Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I've spent an hour flying this, so far this is what I have done... Unlocked the second part of the campaign 'Op Uranus'. Reached level 3 of my young pilots certificate. Gained 8 air kills. 2 ground kills. Flown 17 sorties, of which 10 were completed as a success. Was awarded a medal for completing 5 missions whilst wounded. Unlocked various skins and weapon modifications. Granted I'm whizzing through them just to show how quick it can be done, and I know that doesn't help the multi player chaps. But it is easy enough to plough through it 1
oneeyeddog Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 What a GREAT POST! So, like Custom Settings but accruing points for unlocks. +1. Thanks!
Nankeen Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I'm not sure how the; Search for skins, in the menu will work? Anyone?

You're not being just a touch dramatic there, kaboki? If so, I suggest you change your name to "kabuki", a form of traditional Japanese theatre. As Trooper just posted, it's taken him an hour to get to part 2 of the campaign.

As Trooper just posted, it's taken him an hour to get to part 2 of the campaign. I played what atleast felt like an hour, it may have been 15 minutes though, but it FELT like an hour. Just to damn easy, boring as hell, unlocked the svhak for the soviet plane and the "remove headrest" for the ME109 but I was so bored that I quit playing, got to almost level 3. Just 2 unlocks...Now Im just gonna stick to the default planes because there is no way in hell Im gonna finish the campains(I rather go shoot myself first). I may be dramatic sometimes, but in this "campain" complaining im dead serious. It would have been so much more rewarding to been able to unlock things in MP where it actually takes some skill to shoot down someone, and not shooting at those sitting ducks AI planes.. And no, my nick stays because it is a reason I use the nick(internal joke, won't explain because no one would understand anyway ).
Requiem Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Anyone that really doesn't want to fly the campaign to unlock their gear: Choose mission, choose Normal mode / short mission - hit autopilot - increase time x16 - repeat. Sure, you'll have to babysit and no doubt there will be missions that the autopilot AI will fail but at least you'll complete the campaign more quickly than if you fly it manually. I started out doing this, but now I just do short intercept missions in expert mode and use autolevel and x16 time. I take control at action point, shoot down the bombers, go to exit waypoint. A bit faster than letting the AI do it (since I'm controlling the shooting) and double the xp.

Afwastus Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 (edited) So with the Eagle's Nest server killed, what are the plans to provide an alternative for those of us in the US who frequented that server with another historical mission based server? I have to say, I'm disappointed now. Killing off NA MP isn't going to make friends. Edited October 4, 2014 by Afwastus

I have to say, I'm disappointed now. Killing off NA MP isn't going to make friends. Im dissapointed too, but they probably had good reasons to do so. Running a server takes time and money and it was a private server so we can't really blame anyone... Edited October 4, 2014 by kaboki 1
