Reflected Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 The new update is amazing, I just have 2 questions: 1) Is it normal that I cannot select the FW or the La even as enemies? I haven't bought them because I don't want to fly them. But I was hoping to be able to shoot at them, like in RoF. 2) Is it just me or the Stalingrad map is lacking airfield buildings and objects? The other 2 work fine, but Stalingrad airfields only have the runway textures. No tower, no sheds, nothing.

You should be able to have them in the sim, the only restriction is being able to fly them.
15[Span.]/JG51Chajas Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 INCREDIBLE !!! Thank you all for your efforts
ScotsmanFlyingscotsman Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Hi Hagar, Och that just goes to show that there' s no knowing why some can get an some cannot, but a wee bit of patience goes a long way, I personally think it's just how busy the server is when you try to connect. But enough people were also having problems so that the grown ups can see that and fix if they can, We just have to be patient, a few days here or there is no great shakes ....so its not bank balance then ha ha
ScotsmanFlyingscotsman Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Love the Heinkel ladies and gents, Managed to take off, rudder takes effect about 80kts, Wobbled into the air and bombed a lot of snow around an enemy car, landed first time. Swopped planes and made one smoke a lot but the gunners are VERY accurate so had the quiet descent while my 'target' flew off.... I do wonder if gunners were that accurate, but that's not a critism, If I was gunner I'd want to be that accurate and I've read where the B-17 guys noted if you put up a wall of fire the enemy would bimble off and find someone else so leave you alone. Beautiful aircraft Dev's thank you

skouras Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 the 111 is awesome not a single crash from take off one just play with the left right brakes untill the rudder became takes effect about 80kts 1

JtD Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 (edited) Regarding the reworked cockpit, while there's a dedicated topic, I thought some may just go through this topic. It's a huge improvement graphics wise, smoother, more detailed textures, and a lowered bar, with the sight lowered along with it. On the bottom line, the view over the nose is not better (very tiny bit worse in fact), but the instruments are visible now, also the lower row with the head a little bit backwards. The attached screen shot is wide angle with default head position. New pit on the left, centred on crosshair. Edited August 24, 2014 by JtD 2
Ballermann Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Very good update thanks to the Taem for the great work! Greeting Ballermann!
senseispcc Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 This is a video with the HE 111 ...?! http://youtu.be/-R7qnvAQhMs Sorry.
dburne Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Just got an opportunity to try out the new update this morning, looking really good. I was pleased to see my performance is still just as great after this update, no problem running on Ultra setting with great fps. I still though would prefer the ability to turn individual graphics settings on/off or raise/lower with advanced graphic options. The HE 111 looking really nice, I fly the Yak and went up against a couple of them in the QMB, their gunners can certainly be deadly. Managed to catch their engines on fire and made it back to base, however my aircraft was highly crippled and probably totaled... Regarding the QMB, it still seems to randomly set the number of friendlies and enemies no matter what I select in the QMB. I am sure that will be addressed eventually. My being a single player exclusively, it would be nice if this part of the QMB worked properly... I realize this update was mainly about the HE 111 and multiplayer code...

They could certainly be added to the one's HOTAS, much like I do for other sims...
avlSteve Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 That video is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Absolutely brilliant.
gregor_h Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 I bought this game on Friday and everything was running OK and I loved it. After the latest update I cannot run it. I receive Runtime Error. Anyone else with similar problems? What should I do?

And then multiply because different a/c have different procedures and controls. I mean ... Seriously? How's that for a waste of development resources? Edited August 24, 2014 by csThor 2

sport02 Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 it's already interesting to have this automatic procedure , it's seem's to me that it was not provide for at the begining of the game .

Rjel Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 (edited) I love the new map, more choices are always better. I think some mission builders are going to make some great missions for that map. I'm enjoying the Fw-190 also. The view seems just about right to me although I'm not an expert on the plane. The 109s are a joy to fly now. Much much improved. I'm finding it is the best plane for me in this sim just as it was in the original (classic?) IL-2. I only did a test hop in the He-111. Beautiful plane model. Not a personal favorite but it's going to be fun to hunt. I noticed last week and again in this update I can snag the upper branches of the trees without it automatically tearing off my wing, aileron or the elevator. I actually clipped one hard enough it caused my plane to skew sideways a little but didn't send me crashing to the ground. It didn't even put a tear in the wing like used to appear before the wing tore off. Hitting the trees always kills my engine still. I spent a couple of hours last night flying low level just looking around on both of the big maps. Anyone who thinks the terrain in this sim is bland isn't really being honest with himself, IMO. So much detail and variety in textures. The sense of speed at low level surpasses the original game by a mile. And I always have thought IL-2 gave me a better sense of speed than anything before or after in sims. Edited August 24, 2014 by Rjel
Endy Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Just tried the 111, what a beauty, fantastic detail. Came in for a lovely landing approach, good speed, glide angle, everything spot-on, good flare, then -- both engines cut, both props broke, stopped very quickly. Forgot to lower the wheels, duh.

dburne Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Having a lot of fun in the QMB fighting those 111's with my Yak 1. Love watching them burn! So can that AI gunner in the 111 be killed, I seem to be having a problem with that, but it may very well be my poor aim. I would like to get rid of him so I can get on their six and lay some lead to em.

Don't forget to GUMPS. Gas, Undercarriage, Mixture, Power, Switches. I do it every time in the sim or I forget the damn stilts. Have to do it in real life. Might as well do it here. SCG_Neun Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Many thanks guys on the excellent work contained within this latest update.
dburne Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Yes, all crewmembers can be killed Ok thanks, obviously I need to work on my aim.
Eldur Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 You can now shoot flares Nice find, there are so many awesome little things that came with the new update! But still the G-2's throttle is pretty much effed up, let's hope the devs will have a fix on that in one of the next updates. I hate it when all the thrust comes at the last 10% of my lever. I want it as linear as it is in all other planes. There isn't even a technical reason for that exponential throttle input curve. Probably just a simple variable or code line beefed up. Nevertheless, this update ist just stunningly showing we're getting closer to the finished thing, keep up the good work devs Here's "one" of the engines: The DB 610 is practically two 605s (one A and one B whereas the B just rotates in the other direction) put together, so it's technically a 4 engine, but just 2 prop plane. The Focke Wulf again. I was happy to see the new Cockpit and then this What is this? A bug? Before the Update it was not there? It is noticable. Did someone notice this, too? Do you mean those small gaps? They've been there since the FW-190A-3 is in BoS. I don't think it's a bug, though I don't know how this strut's details looks like IRL.
Eldur Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Because the canopy guides cause the canopy to narrow as the canopy slides back when opened. This allows the plexiglass to not crack when the canopy is opened and closed. Not a bug. Now this is something DCS hasn't done right... nice to know, thanks
Livai Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Yes, all crewmembers can be killed Is there a DM that show the damage?
Gort Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Because the canopy guides cause the canopy to narrow as the canopy slides back when opened. This allows the plexiglass to not crack when the canopy is opened and closed. Not a bug. See, now that's why this early access is worth the price of admission. The things you learn around here. I had noticed the hinge on the first release and thought it was just a pragmatic construction technique. The cowling fasteners on an airplane I am building use a hinge like that to fasten the top cowl to the bottom halves. A lot of homebuilts are like that- you pull the hinge pin to separate the cowls. Cool bit of information on the 190. 1
