Blooddawn1942 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I hope so. I took the link posted first. Now I am suffering a horrible slow download. Well...I will remain patience ;-)
6BLBird-Dog Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Had an idea for something different for skins and posted it here http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/2255-thread-gather-your-suggestions-current-version/page-5
SvAF/F19_Klunk Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 (edited) clouds looked really great.. fantastic to fly through... a bit clunky from afar, but that might just be my settings. a huge improvement though.... finally a real sim with cloud action.... Edited April 18, 2014 by F19_Klunk
BeastyBaiter Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Agreed on the clouds. The old ones looked great from a distance but were on/off when it came to interacting with them. The new ones give a very fluid transition when flying through them, but look grainy and strange from a distance. Hopefully they will get a bit more work.
GRehalkov Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Completly new instalation, but now there are no single missions except Il 2 and there are no servers in MP, is it my fault or WAD? And yes, there are new animations and lightings in the hangar...
6./ZG26_Gielow Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 hmm...my launcher screen is in russian Just click on the windows close to the _ and x boxes and switch back to english. Invisible skin ?!?! Interesting
DeafBee Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Ithink you are misunderstanding. The "approved custom skins" will be selectable in MP but just random made skins that arent in the approved list wont be allowed. Its just like RoF. Community votes in skins. The best thing for a skinner to do is add in ALL of the varients in tail number. Though this might lead to a very large skins folder as basically every skin would need its alphabetic or numerical version. And there is no way to quickly add your custom tail. IE: a spit with YO-A as oppEsed to YO-B. these would be two entirly different skins in BoS. Which is not a very effiecint way to do it. But as far as custom skins in MP. They just need to be on the approved list. Take a look at the rof approved list. Its quite extensive. And includes many prominent squads. Were do you know this from? Its not how I read the latest news. But I really hope you are right.
Zak Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 hmm...my launcher screen is in russian Switch to English if you prefer it in the upper right corner. Completly new instalation, but now there are no single missions except Il 2 and there are no servers in MP, is it my fault or WAD? Come on, you can create ANY single mission in the Quick Mission mode!
CPSWolff Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 At my age I have to take a nap during the download. So today I got to take two naps. Thank you.

Brano Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Spasiba Zak and Gielow.I must be blind.I changed it ingame, though.Good to know azbuka from my school years 25 years ago.
Zak Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 EU multiplayer servers are online, working at US server atm.

Zak Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Still "Failed to update" How old is your game version? It has been released less than 2 hours ago, so please make sure you're using the most recent one. The link is the same as always http://il2bos1.s3.amazonaws.com/IL2_setup.exe
HagarTheHorrible Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 How big is the file ? At the moment mine has downloaded 1.8 GB's of 1.68

BMA_West Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 (edited) Ping in MP is going up & down where it used to be steady between 30 and 40? I started out with seeing up to 500, right now under 40 and there we go again over 200 ... anybody else seeing this? It must be that welder, grounded his kit on a definit no-no However no lag that I can see ... wierd Edited April 18, 2014 by West
dburne Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Ok got the new one installed , having a backup of the contents of my input folder, and copying it back in, did the trick it kept all my controller settings. I notice with this build, the launcher stays open and running after exiting the sim, whereas before it did not. No big deal I guess, can just close the launcher as well. Sad to see those neat SP missions gone...
Streiff Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 (edited) Come on, you can create ANY single mission in the Quick Mission mode! Does that mean you removed the existing sp missions, where you for ex. can spawn on the runway and just fly around. Or is it a bad installation if one cant see any besides 1 IL2 ground attack mission. Kind of important to know if i have to do it all over again (uninstall and download) before i do it. This is a correct installation, we removed SP mission on purpose. I believe that we've warned you about our plan not to make those missions and give you more freedom to get yourself some customized entertainment.

This is not something that we've announced, this is not how it will work in IL2BOS. Please, don't confuse ppl, Hooves. Pardon me Zak, but you said it will be like RoF. Thats how RoF is yes? Approved Skins available for Download? You can't change the individual letters, you have to change the whole skin. What am I missing? No one told me anything. Im going off what YOU said. You said it in the update today the answer to question 8. "Its like RoF" is your answer. Im not trying to confuse people Zak. Im trying to explain how (How I understood it anyways) that RoF was. Since you said "It will be like RoF"

71st_AH_Hooves Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 It doesn't sound so crystal clear to me. See Zak's post here: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/5826-developer-diary-part-62/?p=109086 Im just responding to how RoF was since he said in the update it would "BE like RoF" where you can't add custom letters to the skin, but the whole skin has to be changed. If they don't want people explaining how RoF worked. Then Devs don't say "it will be like RoF".

Since you said "It will be like RoF" Hooves, I think you read something into that question 8 answer that is not there. Here is the question and answer: 8) How will numbers and emblems be put on the planes: as entire skins (RoF) or like decals (1946; CloD)? Like it’s in RoF. So, what is like RoF is the manner in which numbers and emblems will be put on the planes, not how the overall skin system will be managed. Edited April 18, 2014 by arjisme
71st_AH_Hooves Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 (edited) I was simply stating how RoF was. And if an Answer to the skins question is "Like in RoF", well thats the answer. Not my fault that the answer given leads us to believe it will be the same. But a charge from a dev that I was Making stuff up as fact is inflammatory and insulting. I simply explained how the system worked before. Edited April 18, 2014 by SYN_Hooves
feuervogel Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 (edited) Update worked fine for me. Well, in hangar there is a guy welding something in a corner, I guess parts for the Heinkel ...? I am missing the built in missions a bit, of course you can build your own in QMB, but the completed bombing, intercept or escorting missions were quick and easy to use. Maybe it will be possible to save a QMB scenario in future ... Clouds looking good, it look like they are in motion now ... (however, bit staccato like for me, maybe my graphic is at its limit) Now I am glad to have a well working installation without any problems so far. Big thank you to the dev team. Edited April 18, 2014 by feuervogel
senseispcc Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 aaaah new hangar animations./ lighting / effects. I like!!! D Sorry I do not like it at all, I hope there are no problems with persons with some medical conditions! 1
Nil Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Sorry I do not like it at all, I hope there are no problems with persons with some medical conditions! Dislike it to, but I don't think it's 'flashy' enough to set off someones epileptic seizure
HagarTheHorrible Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Is it just me or has the lighting been improved ? Also there seem to be some new and improved sounds. I'm also not sure about the welder arc light. I like the idea but it seems a bit distracting at the moment.
334th_L0C0 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 "5) When will we have the chance to make skins for aircraft? Personal markings and numbers? Kill markings on aircraft?Making paint schemes for planes in IL2BOS is a quite complex process. Those who have experience in creating skins for ROF aircrafts know that there are various materials used in planes’ structure and making a proper camo is a sign of a true master. There won’t be any ingame editor, we have no time for it. Nevertheless it will be possible to add your own skins, and we’ll provide you with necessary tools for it. You’ll be free to create anything for your offline missions. Neither campaign nor multiplayer will be playable with custom made skins. Because, firstly, you may draw a transparent plane and gain unfair advantage, and secondly, your creative ideas may be offensive to other players in our worldwide community. Further details about user made skins will be revealed later, before the launch." This is nonsense imo. If someone is using a skin that all don't agree with, we boot him using the abilities given to us. Please let us deal with them if needed.. It just seems as though we're going backwards and have less things we're allowed to do as the community. Just google "IL2 skins" and you will see how important skinning is to us. Hundreds, if not thousands of skins made by players out there.
ph1317 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Just a short test flight with latest version so far, but many things seem to be working very well already. And the game UI says it's only 45% finished....
Rivet Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 in hangar there is a guy welding something in a corner, I guess parts for the Heinkel ...? All that flashing took me by surprise. I thought it was a glitchy install at first. Now I've checked again and spotted the guy welding in the corner. The only thing detrimental I've noticed this time around is that my mouse cursor is now very laggy and sluggish in the hangar screen and the map screen compared to the previous version.
Jaws2002 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 (edited) I was simply stating how RoF was. And if an Answer to the skins question is "Like in RoF", well thats the answer. Not my fault that the answer given leads us to believe it will be the same. But a charge from a dev that I was Making stuff up as fact is inflammatory and insulting. I simply explained how the system worked before. There were two questions answered about skins. #5 and #8. #5 explains that, except the ten skins provided by the developers( and we'll have to unlock in offline campaign), custom skins will not be available in multiplayer and campaign. Question #8 deals with the decals/ numbering system. Il-2 had a good system where you could get a blank skin for the whole squad and the game will add different numbers to each plane, so you know who is who without the need for individual skins. The answere to this question was "we'll have a system like in ROF". That means the numbers and markings will have to be painted on the skin. ....But you can't make custom skins for online and campaign as per answer #5. Edited April 18, 2014 by Jaws2002 2

SYN_Luftwaffles Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Yeah, I think it should be made like RoF's skin practice with user-made skins being available (historical only imo) at intervals at a later date once the game is all launched and sitting pretty.
zippyPerrserker Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 15) Will planes and modifications be flyable outside the campaign before they are unlocked? I can appreciate the unlock system in the campaign, but would like all planes to be available for custom/quick missions. We’ll think about it. The current decision covers the entire unlock system, which means that you unlock content in campaign only. It’s one of the game’s rules, it’s a given. -- I really hope you do reconsider, unlocks in the campaign are one thing (I might not agree with it, but I can see some merit) but not having all planes and modifications available in quick and custom missions seems like a recipe for player frustration for no particularly good reason. As a single player flyer, why not let me fly what I'd like in a quick or custom mission? I just don't see what would be gained by that. Anyway, just a thought-- Enjoying the early access so far when I get a chance to play it, off now to check out this weeks update!
Felix58 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Thanks for the informative post on the DM. I was curious about the DM versus previous titles, so to know that they were under-modeled is a revelation. As you say, a 20mm round can do a lot of damage.
Rjel Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Boy, this thread needs some hugs. Just a little testy in here from some unexpected people. 1
