Albino Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Yes, it's roughly the area we had on the Bessarabia map from the old Il-2. Not a bad choice. How big is that?
Juri_JS Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 I think a little over 300 x 300 kilometer. When we get the necessary planes this map could also be used for 1944 scenarios.
Juri_JS Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Everyone who likes to know what to expect from such a map, I suggest to take a look at the website of Yogy, who build the old Bessarabia map for Il-2 1946. It has some detailed background information on this area:http://www.yogysoft.de/Bessarabia.htmHere's the old text from the Il-2 1946 4.09 patch readme on the map:http://www.yogysoft.de/DL/Bessarabia_Readme.pdf 1
ShamrockOneFive Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Odessa! Smart move! We can use a lot of the aircraft we have now and it would work (although we really need early Ju87, LaGG and Yak versions) just fine. Great idea!
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 No need for Yak-1s or LaGG-3s - by the time Odessa was overrun these were only beginning to be introduced. The core of the Odessa defense was MiG-3s, I-16s, I-153s, SBs and Su-2s. ...and 55 IAP was there!
Lusekofte Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 The I 153 fought well in the mountains. And the IAR80 would be a nice addition
Feathered_IV Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 The I-153 is one of my all time favourite aircraft. One can only hope... 2
ShamrockOneFive Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 No need for Yak-1s or LaGG-3s - by the time Odessa was overrun these were only beginning to be introduced. The core of the Odessa defense was MiG-3s, I-16s, I-153s, SBs and Su-2s. ...and 55 IAP was there! So in some ways... Even better! We're missing the I-153, SB-2, and Su-2... but its not a huge stretch to sub in the Moscow planeset to "make it work". Even better if we actually got those types... but that's me being greedy :D
Juri_JS Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 According to Zeus the final map size will probably be around 280x280 km. So it will be possible to show the whole Bessarabia campaign (Operation München) in 1941. Hopefully we will also get some ships. The Black Sea Fleet played an important role during the siege of Odessa. 1
BlitzPig_EL Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Another big city we won't be able to fly over? Unlike Moscow, flying over Odessa will be necessary.
216th_Jordan Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Another big city we won't be able to fly over? Unlike Moscow, flying over Odessa will be necessary. First of all Odessa isn't Moscow size-wise and secondly as you surely saw when you studied the last posts of this thread Odessa lies in the middle of the map.
BlitzPig_EL Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Just asking. Not a snarky comment on my part, sorry you took it that way.
216th_Jordan Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Just asking. Not a snarky comment on my part, sorry you took it that way. Roger that, got it wrong then.
BlitzPig_EL Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Communication without spoken words, across this cold format of the internet is really hard, isn't it? I still wish that we could all meet up somewhere for a giant weekend of flying the game together and sharing a few cold ones, It would smooth out a lot of bumps in the road methinks. In vino veritas. 3
Brano Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 (edited) I'm lookin forward to see famous Potemkin stairs Check famous film by SergeyEisenstein https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battleship_Potemkin Todays... Edited July 18, 2016 by Brano 1

Yes I wish they would put together a Meet and great 777 Studios and 1C games, at least once every 5 years or so to talk, eat sleep and think Aviation, maybe a weekend Air-show, like a tiger meet here in the states? During the vacation months for the EU guys to make it out here and help them find nice but cheap accommodations.
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 The Russian people from Wings of Liberty do regular meet-ups, usually in Moscow. Some country-specific ones would already be a charm, I'm pretty sure every European country and each state in the USA, Canada and Brazil have at least 5 sim jockeys willing to meet at a local bar
Bert_Foster Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Goody more flat featureless terrain .... at least Kuban has some mountains ! 2
707shap_Srbin Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 A little secret: want to meet Devs - come to Volgograd on 9 may
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 I went to the last press conference Held in Oakland, California 2013 at the USS Hornet, It was great; I meet all the Developers and they are very dedicated group, they love this genera and express nothing but great respect for the community and the Flight Simulation, of WWII, and WWI. I hope to see some more Conferences in the near future.

No601_Swallow Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Brilliant, Zeus! Fields start to look like fields! Great work! (And if I was to poke latitude and longitude into Google Earth this would be...? In other words, are we still near Odessa?)

216th_Jordan Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 (edited) Thats amazing work zeus! Very looking forward to this Btw: In the picture the shimmering like in BOS summer map is visible. (upper right quarter of the picture) it seems that some parts of texture seem to be elevated a bit over the map level when viewed from further away and this causes the shimmering effect. Do you know where it comes from?cheers Edited August 1, 2016 by 216th_Jordan
PA-Sniv Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Very nice, Zeus!!! One more: http://forum.il2sturmovik.ru/topic/492-kurilka-kartodelov/page-9?do=findComment&comment=434580 3
Juri_JS Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 The summer textures look good. I hope we will one day also see summer textures for the Moscow and Velikie Luki maps.
NachtJaeger110 Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 That looks amazing!!! Can't wait to fly over there Fantastic work!
Brano Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Can't wait to parachute into waves of Black Sea from my burning Tchaika :D

Juri_JS Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 (edited) Are there any plans to create ships for the map? If I remember correctly, someone was working on ships for the Murmansk map. Is the work on these ships still continuing? Edited August 2, 2016 by Juri_JS
