Hello!

Today we're assembling Ju 88 A-4 cockpit consisting of 4 crew stations. Required animations are being made right now. We plan to have working quick mission mode for Moscow map by the end of this month and start campaign beta-testing in early March.

 ..............

1.107b version changes:

..............

A bit more info about Battle of Moscow. Today we can show you preliminary (there are no trees in the city yet) screenshots of Moscow as you'll be able to see it in the game from the border of flyable area.

..............

We can show you some more autumn Moscow map screenshots as well (it is 90% completed):

Moscow looks lovely. :)

Not allowing us to fly over it, land in it etc, constitutes cruel and unusual punishment.  :(

Nice, thanks! Improvements looks good.

Moscow map looks great!

New patch next week, that`s always good news  :salute:

As always: Very good stuff there :salute:

About the corrected cooling on the MiG. Does that mean, that the degree of overheating stays the same, but only really kicks in at higher altitudes, so that there is less need for opening the rads at low altitude?

Looking forward to next week  ;)

Can't wait for Moscow that is beautiful!

> 21. AI gunners will fire at any planes, not only fighters;

Very nice!

Glad to see plenty of fixes and new material coming every patch.

Since i didnt see it anywhere: is the new Pe2 RPM increase rate hiatorically accurate? It only increases like 1% per second. It takes forever to make any changes in RPM.

Text one says "die kuhlerklappen durh den luftdruck geoffnet" which means that radiator was opened by approach flow.

Actually it says the radiator is opened by the pressurized oil ("Drucköl", not "Luftdruck").

Yes, it took up to a minute. Later Pe-2 had alternate system for obvious reasons.

Great guys, really one step forward all.

What exactly is the Fitness ratio?

Posted (edited)

What does Fineness Ratio mean? O.o

Probably the glide angle - altitude lost vs. distance covered.

Fineness* xD

Probably the glide angle - altitude lost vs. distance covered.

Yes it is ; more exactly the ratio : distance covered / altitude lost.

Can be also calculated like this ratio : Horizontal speed / Vertical speed

Modern gliders have fineness around 50 or more and can fly 50 km for 1000 m altitude lost (theorical).

Cessna 150 / 152 have a fineness no more than 7 to 9 and max 4 to 6 with flaps extended. I think it's not better than this for a WW2 fighter.

i suspect the He111 may be the best of the planeset in this trial.

Beautiful, beautiful update! The improvements are all very welcome and oh my, that Moscow map! I've seen that view both from home and from aircraft while landing and every single detail is spot on! I expected it to be beautiful but I must say this exceeds my expectations by far :salute:

Yes,one can recognize many city sites like Kreml,Krasnaya Ploshtschad,Bolshoy Teatr,Manezh,Chram Vasiliya Blazhenogo etc.More over those are real 3D objects, only simplified, kind of placeholders. They could be easily interchanged with more detailed buildings later on.It gives us hope that maybe one day complete Moscow will be available to fly over ;) Could be a good idea to open competition for enthusiast 3D modellers to come with their advanced creations. Judged by devs and if meeting requirements, would exchange previous placeholders.

My bad, finesse ratio indeed :)

If yak finesse ratio is increased with flaps out, it mean it will have more drag in the next patch. It's likely to correct what a lot of people are complaining about, yak handling with flaps out.

The details on the map of Moscow are impressive

Barrage baloons over Moscow would add to the immersion.

Really interested in this modification to the yaks...

After some research Fineness Ratio is:

  1. the ratio of the length of a streamlined body (as a fuselage) to its maximum diameter

.

Although this will effect drag its not necessarily talking about the lift to drag ratio/glide angle.

DEVs can you please explain exactly what this is please!!!!!!!!!!!!!

12. Fineness ratios of all planes were re-checked with their flaps extended.

I never heard the fineness ratio in connection with flaps. But if they say so, it has to be a value for the drag regarding the flap position and will change the glide angle for flaps extended.
