But would it be possible to respect the rule of the forum by putting your screen shot either in despoil or be hidden Hakenkreuz .

please respect like everyone else . :salute:

Yeah I saw that but I didn't want to move your Wespen around because I might mess it up. There are a couple of others in the ones you made that are like that. I wish the stretching wouldn't happen. I'll try and mess with it but I'm sure I'll mess it up, LOL.

A short story about these markings & this aircraft:

Way back in 1958 I found the first hardbound book  that would begina life time of interest in World War Two aircraft: William Green's Famous Fighters of World War Two that featured 17 well known & some not so well known fighters that served in that conflict. It cost a considerable $4.00 at the time - a big purchase for a kid on a weekly 35 cent allowance! Within its pages were aircraft many boys who built Aurora ,Lindberg & Revell models : P-40, Spitfire, Me ( oops Bf) 109, Zero etc., but there were quite a few many 9 including me ,) American kids had never seen or heard of -Typhoon,,Shiden,Beaufighter ,Me-262et al.The one that really attrcted my eye was thwe bf-110,principally i think because of the beautiful 3 1/2 view done by the airbrush artist Gert W. Heumann. The author, Mr. Green gave the plane itself a rather so-so review with only one short paragraph being devoted to its night fighter role. The artwork for its time was far more interesting.Believe it or not virtually nothing was known about Luftwaffe camouflage , color or markingsby most enthusiasts ( I remember an RAF Flying review article at the time asking readers to write what they could remember about German aircraft that were shot down near them inthe Battle of Britail & what they could remember 18 years later...not much that was accurate as it turned out.) BUt here was this artwork that clearly showed off a fairly accurate rendition of the 110,splinter camouflaged  and all.Ironically not one bit of info was given about it.Nothing about color, unit, where it served or how the artist did the research. One just had toguess.

I was a beginning amature art at the time & I brought my small talent fully to bare on the 110 with several garish water colors.Later when Aifix models became more availble in the U.S. I built several 110's but never dared to attempt the Wasp marked one that we are now very familiar with.

I never dreamed someday we would be able to fly ( virtually) in CloD & BoS this beauty & i have to say thankful a few talented skin painters have taken the time to do the markins justice!

Oh almost forgot:

BTW Here is the bf-109E also fairly accurate of an early war E.I have seen this aircraft featured in a Life magazine of the time .I've alway wondered if the artist saw it there too?

EDIT: Made some small changes to the paint edges, made the tail cross line up correctly and changed the Règia Aeronautica insignia to the middle.

Italian non-historical skin.

Experimenting with homemade cammo patterns. What do you think?

As far as I know it's not very historically accurate.

No no no! 3U+KT never had RLM79 uppersurface! It was usual 71/02/65! RLM79 uppers was only on Bf110E/Trop's,

and was painted in factories.

Simular aircraft:

Look on the upper camo - You can see lighter areas - RLM02 and darker - RLM71.

(I have never heard before that Werner Moelders had flown a 110. In combat? As Inspekteur (edited : correct rank is General) der Jagdflieger?

Please, Gustav... ;))

W.Molders used two different Bf110's:

Bf110C-1 "SE+JQ" and Bf110E-2 "DI+LG", both as liason aircrafts.

I am lokking for tailfin photos of that "DI+LG".

At this moment I am making nightfighter skinpack for NJG1, 2, 3 and 4. Then will be more for Stab./ZG76 and (Z.)./JG5. Then - ZG2.

Hi!

Do You want to paint a "desert sand" colored skin or "Green-gray" colored skin?

Posted

Hello Panzerbar,

I just want to paint as close as the original one was painted during the North African campaign (If my source is correct...about middle 1942) ;) ;)

So, need some better documents, because all pictures seen on the web (I do not have a lot of documents) show only desert camo scheme.

About 3U+KS - here You are. Foto is very "yellowish", so dont think it is "desert" camo. It is usual RLM02/71/65.
